Serene Sanders has been appointed as Spa Director at Mii Amo at Enchantment Resort

An accomplished professional with more than 20 years of experience in the holistic health industry, Sanders arrived at Mii amo from the tropical beauty of Jamaica where she provided spa consulting services at Round Hill Hotel & Villas in Montego Bay. Previously she was Spa Sales & Marketing Manager at Joya Spa at the Montelucia Resort and Spa Director at Scottsdale Plaza Resort, both located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Sanders brings wide expertise to her new position at Mii amo, including licensed expertise in massage therapy, certification as an Aura-Soma practitioner and Natural Force Healer, and credentials in metaphysical and holistic studies. A native of Bellevue, Washington, Sanders is thrilled to now be making her home surrounded by the red rock splendor of Sedona, Arizona.

Alondra Saldarriaga has been appointed as Spa Director at Hotel Matilda

Ms. Saldarriaga joined the staff of Hotel Matilda in August 2010 as Assistant Spa Director. Prior to Hotel Matilda, she was a sales representative with Natura Bissé International in Mexico City. In Toronto, Canada, she earned a diploma from the Humber Esthetician & Spa Management College, where she also completed esthetician training at the school’s Humber Spa. Spa Matilda is an integral component of the lifestyle-focused guest experience at Hotel Matilda. An intimate haven of comfort and sophistication, it offers integrated spa experiences that combine traditional and innovative spa therapies, beauty treatments, fitness services and wellness offerings. Treatments are customized to the individual needs and personal goals of the individual guest. The Apothecary showcases indigenous healing traditions with hand-blended treatment products inspired by the regional culture and composed of locally procured artisanal ingredients.

Heather Hannig has been appointed as Spa Director at Mandarin Oriental, New York

Heather brings with her more than 10 years of spa industry expertise. Most recently, she was Spa Director at the Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa at the Plaza Hotel, the North American flagship for Caudalie’s French retail brand. Prior to her tenure at Caudalie Vinotherapie, Heather spent three years as Director of Spa Operations for Plus One Management opening and operating spas for brands including Fairmont, InterContinental, Loews, Trump and AmeriStar Casinos. Heather’s extensive experience also includes Spa Manager posts in New York for both the famous Soho House Cowshed Spa and the Trump International Hotel & Tower’s spa. Heather began her career with Hilton as the Spa Operations Manager for Hilton New York. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology.

Jeff Kohl has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer at Red Door Spas

With over 23 years of operating leadership in the spa and hospitality industries, Jeff comes to Red Door with a global relationship network that will support Red Door Spas’ domestic and international expansion plans. Prior to joining Red Door Spas, Jeff was Director of Global Hospitality Sales for Precor Incorporated, where he served as the primary relationship manager for multiple hospitality companies and real estate developers worldwide. Throughout his career, Jeff has held senior-level positions in the luxury spa industry, including: Spa Director, The Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa, in Sonoma, California; Spa Director, The PGA National Resort & Spa, in Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Director, Spa Operations for Princess Cruises, overseeing spa operations, leading a global staff of 1,200 associates, and developing marketing programs to increase revenue and profitability; and Manager, Spa and Fitness for The Disney Institute and Disney Cruise Lines where he successfully launched their spa business.

Paul Hawco has been appointed as Spa Director of Talise Ottoman Spa at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray

Paul Hawco recently joined Jumeirah Zabeel Saray as the Spa Director of Talise Ottoman Spa from the Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver (Canada). Graduating with honours from Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 2000, Paul started his career at New World Fitness Health and Wellness in Canada before joining Mount Pearl Chiropractic and Massage Clinic as an Operator and Massage Therapist. Paul has 16 years of experience in the spa and wellness industry complemented by his nine-year tenure with Fairmont Resorts primarily in Canada. Paul is also currently studying for his Executive Leadership Certificate with ECornell. In his role Paul will lead the day-to-day operations of the spa and build on the considerable reputation of the Talise brand.

Lindsay Madden-Nadeau has been appointed as Spa Director of Talise Spa at Madinat Jumeirah

Lindsay Madden-Nadeau is the newly appointed Spa Director of Talise Spa in Madinat Jumeirah. She joined Jumeirah in August 2011 from Raffles Dubai and brings with her a wealth of international experience following six years working in Bermuda with the Fairmont Southampton, inclusive of the pre-opening of the Willow Stream Spa as a therapist and trainer. In 2007 Lindsay moved to the United Arab Emirates as an Assistant Spa Manager in charge of Treatments for the pre-opening of Raffles Dubai. Lindsay was also involved in the pre-opening of Raffles Seychelles where she assisted with training, structure and set up. Her 14-year experience in hospitality reflects her passion for service and excellence. Lindsay studied at the Canadian Therapeutic College where she obtained a full license in registered massage therapy. In this role, Lindsay will ensure that Talise Spa and Wellness facilities in Madinat Jumeirah are enjoyed by in-house guests and residents of Dubai alike.

Veljko Savic has been appointed as Spa Manager at Four Seasons Resorts Lanai

With a background in physiotherapy, Savic brings a wealth of knowledge and forward-looking methodology to The Spa at Manele Bay’s health and wellness program. A native of Serbia, he obtained his Diploma of Physiotherapy at the School of Medicine in Belgrade and then continued his studies with a Certification in Manual Massage Therapy from the Djuro Salaj Educational Center in Serbia. As a licensed massage therapist, Savic has incorporated his knowledge of physiotherapy and the workings of the body – such as anatomy and physiology, and combined them with a holistic approach, including aromatherapy, bio-energy and psycho kinesiology, when designing beneficial treatments and programs for guests. His health and wellness philosophy is to close the gap between treating the symptoms as in Western practices and treating the cause associated with Eastern practices.

Victoria Nickle has been named Spa Director at Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas

international Bliss Spa, winning the Condé Nast Traveler award for Best Urban Day Spa in 2001. Moving to the United States, she joined Steiner Leisure as corporate director of operations for Mandara Spa,s where she was responsible for the daily operation of 17 national and international resort spas. In 2006, she gained the additional responsibility of director of special projects, opening new spas for Steiner with partner hotels including Disney, Kerzner, Hilton and Marriott.

Milana Knowles has been appointed as Spa Director at Mandarin Oriental

Milana has an extensive, diverse and impressive background with a range of spa’s where she has served, including most recently SpaFinder Inc in New York, Avon located in the Trump Tower, The GreenHouse in New York, and Equinox in New York. She began her career in the Spa industry as Vice President of Business Development with the GreenHouse in New York, followed by various spa and managerial roles with the company. Milana is a native of Croatia and is fluent in Italian & Croatian. In her new role, she will oversee all aspects of Mandarin Oriental, New York’s Spa.

Shoshana Weinberg has been appointed as Spa Director at Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong

As a New York woman of high standards and discipline, it is a surprise to learn that Weinberg spent her early twenties in remote villages in Asia, with a backpack. Her travels took her through Thailand, China, Laos and Cambodia, and it was on this tour that she realised a once childhood hobby, in making herb poultices, would shape her future. Living in Asia, Weinberg had been privy to learn herbal medicine among village tribes, which on return to her native land, led to her forging her path to achieve three things: "I wanted to learn to heal myself, learn to live off the land and learn to help others." She then moved to Orient Express Hotels to open their spa at the Maroma Resort on the Mexican Riviera, and was eventually brought into the company’s head office as director of spa development. From 2006 through 2008, Weinberg travelled the globe learning trends, creating trends and opening new spas. In 2008 Weinberg took herself away from the corporate environment and launched Shree Spa, a company that would enable her to open new spas and assist smaller businesses that needed ad hoc management and marketing expertise.

Sherrie Huebner has been appointed as Spa Director at the Spa at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge

With more than 15 years of spa and wellness industry experience, Huebner was most recently director of spa services for the Natural Wellness USA, a retail, spa and movement space based in Arlington, Texas. Prior to that, she served as spa director for Lake Austin Spa Resort in Austin, Texas, and at Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix. Additionally, she helped conceive, launch and operate the luxury spas at Hyatt Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio and the St. Regis Hotel and Spa in Los Angeles.

Leslie Johnson has been appointed as Spa Director at La Quinta Resort & Club, a Waldorf Astoria Resort

Johnson formerly operated Transformational Spa Concepts, a spa management and development consulting business, and has been involved with Spa La Quinta up to now as a hands-on consultant – conceptualizing a new spa menu inspired by indigenous elements, developing intensive new staff training procedures and overseeing spa upgrades. Her ability to take vision to form is evident, as Spa La Quinta recently received SpaFinder’s 2010 Readers Choice Awards in three categories. Previously, Johnson was contracted by Sea Island Resorts to develop, launch and operate the acclaimed 65,000-square-foot Cloister Spa and Fitness Center in Sea Island, Ga., and was instrumental in attaining Forbes Five-Star status for the Cloister Spa. She also spearheaded and was charged with the development of the award-winning lifestyle programming, and the development, training and operations of the 40,000-square-foot spa, Lotus Salon and Retail, at The Lodge at Woodloch in Hawley, Pa. She was the director of spa services and fitness for Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort; and general manager of The Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center and Medical Practice in Patagonia, Ariz.

Claudia Sierra has been appointed as Spa Director at Hotel Matilda

Sierra comes to Hotel Matilda from the St. Regis Hotel, Mexico City, where she was Lead Therapist at the Remedé Spa. Previous positions include: Assistant Spa Director, Maya Spa, The Tides Riviera Maya; Operations Manager, Willow Stream Spa, The Fairmont Mayakobá, Riviera Maya; and Sales & Marketing Manager, Willow Stream Spa, The Fairmont Acapulco Princess.Spa Matilda is an integral and defining component of the cutting-edge, lifestyle-focused Hotel Matilda guest experience, which combines everything from innovative international dining to a vibrant, gallery-like ambiance filled with eye-popping contemporary art.

Sharilyn Abbajay has been named VP of global Spas and Retail at Marriott International, Inc.

Abbajay is responsible for Marriott’s portfolio of nearly 100 spas worldwide under the Ritz-Carlton, Marriott, JW Marriott and Renaissance brands, including operational standards, vendors, spa design and the financial strategy. She will also oversee the company’s retail stores, including its online retail sites - shopmarriott.com, shopcourtyard.com and collectrenaissance.com.

Linda Lynge has been appointed as Spa Director at Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa

Lynge arrives in Bedford, Pennsylvania from Colorado, where she spent a year as the Spa Director of Vail Resorts RockResorts Spa at The Lodge at Vail. Her experience in the industry runs deep. In 1990, she designed her first athletic club & spa as General Manager of the University Athletic Club in Littleton, Colorado. From there, she moved onto Las Vegas, first joining Caesars Palace for the opening of their spa as the Spa Desk Supervisor before becoming Spa Manager of Mandalay Bay and then Assistant Start-Up Manager for the opening of the Paris Spa by Mandara.

Erika Johnson has been appointed as Spa Director at The Peabody Orlando

The Peabody Orlando, is pleased to announce the appointment of Erika Johnson (pictured) as the new spa director for the hotel’s new 22,000-square-foot spa. In this newly created position, Johnson, a corporate team member of WTS International, will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the new spa and fitness center, which is set to open September 23 as part of the hotel’s $450-million expansion. WTS International and Johnson collectively bring more than 40 years of hospitality, spa and recreation experience to The Spa at The Peabody. Prior to joining The Peabody Orlando, Johnson held various roles at Walt Disney World Resort, South Seas Plantation Resort and Pinehurst Spa & Resort. While at WTS International, Johnson has worked as an account executive overseeing more than a dozen WTS leisure facilities and was involved in numerous openings and the daily operations of spas, fitness centers, residential community clubhouses and resort activity centers throughout Florida. Her move to The Peabody Orlando allows her to focus in on developing the best spa and fitness facility Orlando has seen. Johnson is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University and has a bachelor’s degree in recreation and leisure management.
