Deutsche Hospitality has joined forces with the Reiner Meutsch Fly & Help Foundation to assist with the building of schools in developing countries. The aim of the project is to provide young people with access to education. The group recently contributed €60,000 from the monies raised within the scope of its "Deutsche Hospitality 1x1" donation programme, and these funds are currently being used to help construct two schools in Sri Lanka and Uganda. Both schools have now celebrated the formal laying of their foundation stone.
The Akaryn Hotel Group has unveiled plans to become a single-use plastic free hotel company by 2020. The group's newest opening, akyra TAS Sukhumvit Bangkok, scheduled to open in May 2018, is set to lead the charge in this initiative by not having any single-use plastic in its rooms or food and beverage outlets. "Our eco-friendly approach in Bangkok began by sourcing glass bottles and containers, with a commitment to no single-use plastic used in the restaurants or bars. The hotel will extend the initiative for guests on the go with stylish akyra stainless steel water bottles presented on arrival that can be refilled anytime during their stay," said Anchalika Kijkanakorn, Founder and Managing Director of Akaryn Hotel Group.

An incredible act of salvation has taken place in China. Historic trees and traditional Chinese constructions were in jeopardy of being erased before Chinese businessman Ma Dadong decided to uproot both the trees and buildings and move them to just outside the prominent city of Shanghai. Dadong has managed to preserve nearly 80% of 10,000 trees that were in danger of being felled to make way for a new reservoir, along with 50 Ming and Qing dynasty houses spread over 30 ancient villages 800km from Shanghai.
