Cloudbeds Reveals Top 10 Revenue-Generating Distribution Channels for Lodging Businesses in the United States

Cloudbeds, the hospitality management platform powering more reservations and happier guests for lodging businesses around the globe, revealed its top 10 revenue-generating distribution channels for lodging businesses in the U.S. The company found that the leading demand channels, Booking.com and Expedia, performed the highest for U.S. lodging businesses with Airbnb climbing the list to no. 3. Airbnb continues to perform as it rises in popularity with more traditional hotel businesses adopting the channel in recent years, signifying the continued convergence of the hotel and short-term rental industries.

Spectacular interiors of rediscovered Orient Express carriages revealed

For years, several vintage Orient Express train carriages lay, forgotten, at a small railway station on the border between Poland and Belarus called Malaszwewicze.One day in 2015, French railway fan Arthur Mettetal spotted the distinctive blue carriages in a YouTube video, kickstarting a journey across Europe to track down the lost trains.Hospitality group Accor purchased the rediscovered carriages and enlisted Parisian architect Maxime d'Angeac to meticulously restore them, ready for operation on a Paris to Istanbul rail route that's set to operate from 2024.The first glimpse of the renovated interiors suggest a glamorous travel experience combining Art Deco glamor with modern luxury.

Ageing gracefully - what should modern senior living concepts look like?

The population in Europe is continuously aging. A declining birth rate combined with a higher life expectancy (women: 83 years; men: 78 years)1) are the main reasons for this development. According to the European Commission, people aged 65+ will represent 30 % of the total population in Europe while they currently represent 20 %2). Besides the increasing challenges in the labour market (the last birth cohorts of baby boomers are retiring within the next few years), we also need to think of attractive and dignified living solutions for seniors. At one point all people must ask themselves how, where and with whom they want to live when they retire. Usually, the answer is quite clear. People want to stay in their apartment or house where – in most cases – they have been living for many years. Nevertheless, many factors can make it challenging for seniors to stay in their familiar environment. Besides the potential need for assistance (with the household, groceries etc.), loneliness – for example, due to divorce or loss of a partner – is a severe issue considered to be a hidden pandemic as per the World Health Organisation.
