A Hands-on Mentality Aimed at Enshrining Sustainability

Conserving resources for future generations requires a pro-active approach. The Steigenberger Grandhotel Belvédère Davos in the Swiss Alps has become one of the first active participants in the Davos Climate Fund, which was instigated today by the Destination Davos Klosters Tourism Office and the not-for-profit organisation myclimate. The goal is for the town to become carbon neutral by 2030. The financial resources made available via the fund will be used for purposes such as the establishment of renewable energies, investment in electromobility equipment including e-bikes, e-cars and charging stations or special measures to raise awareness amongst guests and the local population.

EHL Sustainability Week 2020: A Virtual Edition

In early October, EHL held its 2020 Sustainability Week, which had been postponed due to the Coronavirus lockdown in March. The events held throughout the week were organized in collaboration with a cross-functional project team (volunteer staff members & students) and were available both online and offline in order to allow student and staff to participate no matter their location, and on our three campuses: Passugg, Singapore and Lausanne. Indeed, both Singapore and Passugg organized online panels, respectively on Sustainability in Tourism and The Zero Waste Philosophy.

Promoting innovation and e-mobility - Rainer Zietlow, an experienced tour driver with the Mannheim-based special agency CHALLENGE4, sent out a strong signal for the future viability of e-mobility this afternoon as he embarked upon on a marathon 20,000-kilometre trip through Germany in a VW ID.3 electric car. Deutsche Hospitality supports this ambitious project by sponsoring overnight accommodation and catering costs. Airbnb is working with hosts from across the Czech Republic to provide first responders, doctors and emergency responders in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, with secure accommodation while they carry out their vital work. Through this global initiative, hosts have already offered up nearly 200,000 places to stay in over 160 countries and regions. Frontline staff can book eligible and available stays in their area. Airbnb will waive all fees on the first 100,000 stays booked through this program.
