New World Beijing Hotel will open October 2013 as the first five-star hotel in Chongwenmen, one of Beijing’s fastest growing commercial areas. The hotel will have the distinction of being the closest deluxe hotel to the Temple of Heaven, as well as conveniently located near to Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the famous shopping streets of Wangfujing.
Annie is responsible for hotel market studies and financial feasibility studies, operator selection, hotel evaluations, and performance reviews in the hotel consulting business for HVS throughout China. She has hotel development experience in Beijing, Tianjin, Jiangxi, Hunan, Fujian, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Yunnan and Mongolia.
Peter Wynne is announced as area general manager – Beijing. He is the former general manager – Projects and Development at Swire Hotels. Peter has over 20 years of experience in the industry since settling in Asia, primarily with unique operations including Aman Resorts and Taj Hotels. Prior to joining Swire Hotels, Wynne opened the Raffles Beijing for the 2008 Olympic Games. His first assignment after graduating from Bournemouth University was at Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, initially as resident manager and later as general manager.
Michael Faulkner is appointed as general manager at EAST, Beijing. Faulkner’s experience includes five years with luxury hotels in China and Australia, as well as several years at the Metropolitan in London where he was director of Sales and Marketing.
The award-winning Grace Hotels has announced the appointment of Jui Kretzu as General Manager of Grace Beijing. Jui joins Grace Hotels with an extensive background in the travel and hospitality industry. A Taiwanese national, Jui grew up in Brazil and has lived in the United States, Taiwan and China; she is fluent in Mandarin, English and Portuguese. Jui spent the early years of her career in the airline business before undertaking a series of roles with Ritz Carlton at their properties in Laguna Niguel, New Orleans and Key Biscayne in the United States, and Guangzhou and Shanghai in China.
Originally from Romania, Cernia graduated from the Business and Commercial Institute. With an international career spanning more than 15 years, he has held variety of managerial positions at The Ritz-Carlton Hotels and Bulgari Hotels & Resorts in several countries including Japan, Indonesia, the US and the United Arab Emirates.

Lee landed in Beijing earlier this month directly from InterContinental Hong Kong. Since then, the native of Singapore has been adapting instantly into the culture of this historical and vibrant city. He sees Beijing's culture as playing a vital role in the successful running of a hotel. Lee started his career in hospitality as a trainee at Le Meridien Singapore in 1994 after graduating from hotel school. Later he joined Shangri-la Hotels Group and worked in Singapore, Hangzhou, Chengdu and Tokyo. In 2009, he worked as hotel manager and acting general manager at Mandarin Oriental Sanya before he joined InterContinental Hotels Group in 2010, as resident manager of InterContinental Hong Kong.
Prior to joining Conrad Beijing, Kassatly held various general managerpositions at Fairmont hotels in Montreal, Quebec City and The Plaza Hotel in New York City. As Hilton Worldwide reported, in 2007, he was transferred from Canada to Cairo to spearhead Fairmont's move to the Egyptian capital, overseeing the renovation and opening of the Fairmont Towers Heliopolis. He then moved to Asia as area general manager for Raffles hotels in Cambodia. Prior to his current appointment, Mr.Kassatly wasgeneral manager of Grand Millennium Dubai. Mr. Kassatly studied hospitality at Montreal's Concordia University and Cornell in New York, later graduated from the Advanced Management Program for the Hospitality Industry at the University of Guelph in Ontario. He is also a member of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs and L'Amicale des Sommeliers and throughout the years has been involved with many charity organizations at the fundraising and board level.

The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited (00045) (HSH), owner and operator of the Peninsula Hotels, announced the retirement of Mr. Donald J. Harrington, General Manager of The Peninsula Beijing, who will be replaced by Mr. Joseph Sampermans, currently Hotel Manager of The Peninsula Hong Kong. Mr. Sampermans will assume his new role on 15 October 2012.Mr. Sampermans joined the Company in 2004 as Director of Food Beverage at The Peninsula Bangkok. In 2007, he was promoted to be the pre-opening Executive Assistant Manager, Food Beverage for The Peninsula Tokyo and a year later, he was promoted again to be the Resident Manager. In mid 2010, he was transferred to Hong Kong to become Hotel Manager of The Peninsula Hong Kong, HSH’s flagship hotel property. Aged 42, Mr. Sampermans is a Dutch national and a graduate of the Limburg Zuyd in The Netherlands with a Bachelor degree in Finance. His career path has taken him to Thailand, Germany and Cambodia.

He heads to Beijing from his most recent general manager position in Pattaya, Thailand.
Marc C. Brugger has been appointed managing director of Rosewood Beijing, scheduled to open Summer 2013 as the first China hotel for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. Mr. Brugger brings 20 years luxury hotel experience to his new role. Rosewood Beijing will be located in the central business Chaoyang District, opposite the iconic CCTV Tower. The company plans to add 10 properties in Asia within five years. Most recently, Mr. Brugger was general manager of Crown Towers Hotel and Casino Macau. Other positions he has held in the destination’s upper echelon properties included vice president VIP gaming services for City of Dreams Casino Macau and vice president hotel and F&B for Altira Hotel & Casino Macau. Previously, Mr. Brugger was director of food and beverage for Four Seasons Hotel Dublin, the largest food and beverage operations of Four Seasons in Europe. His former nine years with Hyatt International included food and beverage management positions at Park Hyatt Goa and Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, with additional postings in Mexico and Malaysia.
The 279-room Rosewood Beijing will open Summer 2013 as the first China property for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts®, spearheading its ambitious Asia expansion plans. The hotel will be located in the central business Chaoyang District, opposite the iconic CCTV Tower. Designed by Melbourne-based Bar Studio, the ultra-luxury property will represent a number of firsts for both Rosewood Hotels & Resorts and Beijing. "Guests will see A Sense of Place® – our guiding philosophy to reflect and celebrate each location's culture, history and geography – exquisitely expressed in Rosewood Beijing," says Radha Arora, president of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. "Contemporary and warm, homelike and refined, energetic and serene – all these aspects will be incorporated into the hotel's design and ethos."The hotel will offer more landscaped outdoor space than any other Beijing luxury hotel, with terraces, gardens and balconies integrated into the design of many of the restaurants, spa, recreational facilities, meeting and function areas. Bangkok-based P Landscape, acclaimed for its resort landscaping, will apply the same sensibilities in this urban hotel. With their residential-style layouts and floorplans, guestrooms will be designed to evoke sensations of luxury apartment living and, at 538 sq.ft., they will be amongst the largest in the city. The wide proportion of the rooms will allow maximum window aspect, enhanced by window seats. Natural finishes and textural overlays, spacious bathrooms and walk-in closets, and non-traditional, residential components and accessories with subtle Oriental overtones, will complete the sophisticated, homelike surroundings. Seven restaurants and lounges will serve authentic international cuisines amidst innovative design style.
