Matt Canning has been promoted to General Manager at Hotel Vermont

Matt Canning began his tenure at Westport Hospitality as a key member of Hotel Vermont's opening in 2013. Having worn many hats including Front Office Manager, F&B Manager and Assistant General Manager, Canning is well prepared to succeed van Wees as General Manager. A South Burlington native, Canning's passion for local food and beverage has influenced Vermont's hospitality scene, particularly through his work in beer tourism, agriculture, and restaurant development. "Having worked closely with Hans over the past decade, I am eager to take what I've learned to continue elevating Hotel Vermont as a leader in the hospitality industry," says Canning. Justin Chapman has been appointed as General Manager at Hotel Champlain

Hilton Burlington Lake Champlain, soon to be Hotel Champlain, is pleased to announce the appointment of Justin Chapman as the new General Manager of the hotel. Bringing over 14 years of hospitality experience, Justin has moved up through Aimbridge Hospitality to step into the role of General Manager at Hilton Burlington Lake Champlain, soon to be Hotel Champlain. He was previously General Manager of the Embassy Suites by Hilton at Destiny USA in Syracuse, New York, another Aimbridge Hospitality property.

Hilton Burlington Lake Champlain Announces Rebrand to Hotel Champlain (Burlington, VT)

Today, the iconic Hilton Burlington Lake Champlain announced plans to rebrand to Hotel Champlain and join the Curio Collection, part of the Hilton portfolio. Through the end of summer, Hotel Champlain will undergo exterior and interior renovations of key spaces within the hotel, including food and beverage outlets, event and gathering spaces and fitness areas. The property will remain open during the renovation.

The design concept, "All Things Culinary", is inspired by The Essex"s noted Cook Academy and its critically acclaimed restaurant, Junction, where a team of professional chefs bring the best of Vermont"s bounty to the tables of the resort. Hans van Wees has been appointed as General Manager at Hotel Vermont

Canning, President of Westport Hospitality, LLC based in Burlington, announced the appointment of Hans van Wees as General Manager of the NEW Hotel Vermont. When the contemporary, LEED-certified hotel begins welcoming guests in Spring 2013, van Wees will be responsible for managing the hotel including all operations, sales and marketing and overseeing food and beverage. A seasoned hospitality professional with extensive Vermont hotel experience, van Wees arrives at Hotel Vermont following senior leadership roles at hotels across New England, Europe and the Caribbean. Trained as an officer in the Dutch army, he launched his career in the Netherlands with Sonesta International Hotels and Resorts before transferring to Bermuda as Resident Manager of in various senior management positions at the 400-room Sonesta Beach Resort and Spa. Van Wees then moved to the U.S. as General Manager of the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. He also provided consulting services to a variety of businesses throughout New England, including Jay Peak Resort in Jay, Vermont, where he led the opening of the boutique Tram Haus Lodge - a key component of the resort's $200 million expansion.

Mari Breen Palace has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at The Hilton Burlington Hotel

The Hilton Burlington Hotel announced today that Mari Breen Palace has been named director of sales and marketing. In her new role, she is responsible for leading the day-to-day sales and marketing initiatives for the 258-room hotel. Palace most recently served as group sales manager for the Sheraton Providence Hotel in Rhode Island. Prior to that she was general manager for the Residence Inn by Marriott in Shelton, Ct. Her extensive hospitality career includes director of sales and general manager positions for a number of hotels in Rhode Island and Connecticut. In 2008, Palace served as pre-opening director of sales and marketing for NYLO Hotel in Warwick, Rhode Island, responsible for all hotel opening sales and marketing initiatives.
