The Forum Hotel boasts 198 guest rooms and 10 suites, 22,000 square feet of meeting and events spaces and classrooms, a flourishing arboretum and botanical garden, and two state-of-the-art dining concepts led by executive chef Eric Brownlee. Birch & Bloom, a modern American steakhouse, works in partnership with local growers, butchers and purveyors to provide the freshest choice cuts and seasonal produce. The Good Sport, a lively neighborhood beer bar, offers an array of familiar pub fare and several beers from local breweries and tap houses.

Ricky de Jesus has been appointed as Director of Catering at Kimpton The Forum Hotel

Originally a Florida native, Ricky joins The Forum's opening team offering over 15 years of hospitality experience with a focus in boutique hotel management. Ricky cut his teeth in restaurant operations and event management with three years at Imperium Food & Wine in Celebration, FL, and has since served as a food & beverage director while implementing his passion for service through various business models. Ricky's attention to detail and customer service coupled with his passion for hospitality have primed him for his role as director of catering at The Forum. Ricky will be tasked with catering sales and operations for The Forum's 22,000-square-foot meetings and event spaces, offering unique ways to gather and celebrate in Charlottesville.

Darby Gyscek has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at Kimpton The Forum Hotel

Darby brings 25 years of hospitality sales experience to The Forum's sales team, including the past 15 years specializing in university-affiliated properties at the University of North Carolina, Duke University and the University of Virginia. Darby has experience working for many household names in hospitality, including Disney, Hyatt, Fairmont, Starwood and Aramark. She obtained a bachelor of science degree in hotel, restaurant & tourism management from Western Kentucky University.

Kelly Brown has been appointed as General Manager at The Forum Hotel

Kimpton tapped seasoned hospitality professional and Kimpton alumna Kelly Brown as its general manager for The Forum Hotel. A 16-year hospitality veteran, Kelly began her career with Kimpton, holding managerial roles at its properties in Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. She rose through the ranks at the boutique hospitality company to her most recent post as the general manager at the Kimpton Cardinal Hotel in Winston-Salem, NC. There she was awarded by the local Chamber of Commerce with an annual leadership award for her leadership on the property and in her community involvement. Now relocated to Charlottesville and settling into her new role, Kelly will lead the team at The Forum and oversee all aspects of the hotel's opening and operations.

Kimpton Reveals Name of First On-Campus Hotel, The Forum Hotel at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in Charlottesville

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts' Luxury & Lifestyle Collection, announced the name of its first on-campus hotel, The Forum Hotel at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in Charlottesville , and the appointment of its leader, General Manager Kelly Brown. Set to open in spring 2023 on the Goodwin Family Grounds of the Darden School, The Forum Hotel will reflect the vibrant atmosphere and purpose-driven culture of the Darden community by creating a dynamic meeting place for students, alumni, faculty and guests. Hector Pabon has been appointed as Executive Chef at Quirk Charlottesville

Quirk Hotel Charlottesville, the first boutique art hotel in the city's historic downtown, announces the appointment of Hector Pabon to Executive Chef. Pabon brings an impressive culinary background to the hotel, having worked nearly 20 years in the foodservice industry and extensively for Hyatt in Tampa Bay, Clearwater Beach, Atlanta, and most recently Santa Clara. In his new role, Pabon is responsible for overseeing and directing the hotel's food service operations.

Whitney Dang has been appointed as Area Director of Sales & Marketing at Quirk Hotel Charlottesville

Dang was previously the assistant director of sales and marketing at the Thompson Chicago hotel where she led five national and regional accounts, while also securing several new on-brand partnerships to successfully increase leisure travel. Dang kick-started her career based at the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago where she touched on every aspect of the hotel's sales department, leading her into her six-year long role at the Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile where she serviced events as a Convention Services Manager and ultimately rose to Senior Catering Manager. Dang has found success in each role driving revenue and implementing strategies to streamline processes to consistently deliver substantial financial results.

Matthew Brink has been appointed as General Manager at Quirk Hotel Charlottesville

With an extensive background within the Hyatt portfolio, including experience with hotels across the country from Miami Beach, FL, to Long Beach, CA, Brink will bring twenty-five years of industry knowledge to Charlottesville's newest boutique art hotel. Most recently, Brink served as hotel manager based at The Confidante Hotel where he was responsible for all hotel operations, while also overseeing the corporate design and food and beverage program. Previously, Brink was the director of food & beverage at the Grand Hyatt Dallas Fort-Worth and Hyatt Regency Long Beach. Throughout his career, Brink has persistently delivered high guest satisfaction through his personable manner and genuine care to each situation and person he encounters.

Frank Paris has been appointed as Executive Chef of Heirloom at Graduate Charlottesville

Chef Paris joins Heirloom after an impressive career at some of the top hospitality brands and restaurants in the South. Paris developed his taste for fine dining during his childhood, always looking to add flavor and finesse to his meals. Realizing that the best way to regularly enjoy elevated cuisine was to create the dishes himself, he began his journey to become a chef. After graduating with a degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University, Paris completed an intensive apprenticeship program at the Greenbrier Hotel & Resort in West Virginia, laying the foundation for his later experiences working in hotel dining. Following his apprenticeship, Paris held positions at Joel’s Brasserie in Atlanta as well as Chef de Cuisine for the Greenbrier Sporting Club. Finding inspiration in the hospitality arena, Paris went on to work as Executive Sous-Chef at Primland Resort in Virginia where he developed a passion for locally sourced ingredients. During his time in Charlottesville, Paris served as Chef de Cuisine at the Farmington Country Club before opening his own ramen & donut restaurant, Miso Sweet. Paris’s colorful journey in the culinary arts combined with his travel experiences ultimately brought him to Heirloom at Graduate Charlottesville, where he has refreshed the menu to reflect his passion for locally sourced and globally inspired fare. The full-service menu offers small and large plates with southern flair, paying homage to its Charlottesville roots.
