Hyatt Hotels to Unveil Restoration of Historic Architectural Landmark, Cook County Hospital

Hyatt Place and Hyatt House Chicago Medical/University District, the first combined Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels located in Chicago, is set to open this summer in the Beaux-Arts classical-style landmark formerly the site of the remarkable 106-year old Cook County Hospital, at 1835 W. Harrison St. on the Near West Side. This 342,000 square foot adaptive reuse project, part of a $150 million multiphase plan spearheaded by Murphy Development and SOM, in a design-build collaboration with Walsh Construction, Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc., and KOO, will also feature over 4,000 sq. feet of meeting space, open concept public spaces, a 24-hour fitness center, a food hall, medical offices, and a museum paying tribute to the hospital's legacy. Upon opening, the hotels will be operated by Aimbridge Hospitality.

The Unbound Collection by Hyatt Brand Grows with the addition of the Chicago Athletic Association

Following a multimillion-dollar, eight-month renovation, DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago Midway Airport opens today as Hilton's closest full-service hotel to the nearby international airport. Raymond Hall has been appointed as Head of Human Resources for the Americas at Jll in Chicago, USA

Hall will serve as a member of JLL's Global HR Leadership Team and the Americas Executive Committee - working closely with Americas CEO Greg O'Brien - and will head the Americas HR Leadership Team. Joining from the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies where he served as CHRO, Hall will relocate from Salt Lake City to Chicago. Hall began his career with the U.S. Army and then worked in a variety of industries and roles at organizations including the International Paper Company, Cargill, Ulteig and Flowserve Corporation. Hall brings broad experience in talent management, diversity and inclusion, leadership development and coaching, executive compensation and succession planning - both in the U.S. and abroad. Melissa Bolster has been named Catering and Conference Services Manager at World of Whirlpool

BENCHMARK®, a global hospitality company, has named Melissa Bolster catering and conference services manager for World of Whirlpool, in Chicago. Ms. Bolster's new position represents a promotion for her. Ken Jesina, Benchmark's general manager at World of Whirlpool, made the announcement. Melissa Bolster joined the World of Whirlpool planning team as a Catering and Conference Services Planner two years ago, coming from The Walt Disney World Resort where she was Catering Guest Experience Manager. She previously held multiple roles with White Lodging in Chicago.Ms. Bolster has a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Roosevelt University and is currently working on her CMP designation. She resides in Bloomingdale, Illinois.
