Rick George has been named Partner at Hotel Assets Group, LLC (Hotel AG)

Hotel Assets Group, LLC (Hotel AG), announced today that Rick George has joined the firm and will open the Hotel AG Chicago office. A graduate of Cornell University, Rick joined HREC Investment Advisors (HREC IA) in 2003 as a principal owner and partner in charge of the Chicago and Los Angeles offices. During his tenure at HREC IA, Rick helped build and train the human capital infrastructure of the firm, while focusing on transactions from the lower to the upper mid-market segments, as well as capital markets production and debt placement. In addition to revenue production, Rick was also responsible for the macro management of the HREC IA brand, national client marketing efforts, technology, and personnel management in the field.

Patti Koehn has been appointed as General Manager at Kinzie Hotel

Koehn hails from both large scale and boutique hotels throughout the Chicagoland area. Beginning in 1986, she was appointed as the Director of Rooms Division at the Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center where she provided leadership to staff, budgeting, forecasting, and customer satisfaction. From here she moved into a management track at Arlington Park Hilton, Arlington Heights, in 1993, as the Assistant General Manager. Continuing in this role at the Radisson Hotel & Suites, Chicago in 1994 and General Manager at the Talbott Hotel, Chicago in 1997, she successfully oversaw both an $8 million and $15 million renovation. Additionally, Koehn led the hotel from a 3-star to a 4-star rating during her time at Talbott.

Stefan Mühle has been named General Manager at Oak Brook Hills Resort

After graduating from Washington State University, where he earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Hotel & Restaurant Management and Business Administration, Mühle moved quickly in impacting the hospitality industry. Starting on a management track at Drake Hotel in Chicago and leaving as the Director of Catering Sales, he gained quality experience to lead other properties to award-winning status including the Orchard and Orchard Garden Hotel in San Francisco, the Harvest Inn in the Napa Valley from 2001 to 2011, and Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa in Sausalito, CA in 2011.

Mark Lauer has been appointed as General Manager at Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers

Most recently Lauer was the general manager at the Hilton New York Midtown. Throughout his 30-plus year career, which started in Chicago at the Downtown Marriott, Lauer has held a number of leadership roles, including hotel manager at The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. From Salt Lake City to San Francisco, Seattle and Omaha, Lauer has a proven track record and a wealth of experience that he brings with him to the Windy City property.

John Cordeaux has been appointed as Executive Chef at Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park

Mark Huntley, Regional Vice President and General Manager of Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park, announces the appointment of John Cordeaux to Executive Chef of the hotel. In his new position Chef Cordeaux will oversee the culinary operation at Fairmont Chicago. From Aria Restaurant and Aria Bar & Sushi Club to the Lobby Bar and In-Room Dining to the social catering and banquet culinary operation, Chef Cordeaux brings nearly 30 years of experience and a global perspective to the hotel's food and beverage team. Chef Cordeaux joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in 1988 as Sous Chef at The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, quickly rising to Executive Sous Chef and finally Executive Chef. During his time at The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, he was part of the pre-opening team at The Molson Centre as The Queen Elizabeth was awarded the management of the centre's restaurants and private boxes. In 1999 Chef Cordeaux transferred to The Fairmont Royal York in Toronto as the Executive Chef where he held the role for six years, moving into the Director of Food & Beverage position in 2005.

Tom Garcia has been appointed as Vice President | General Manager at Eaglewood Resort & Spa

Benchmark Hospitality International®, a leading U.S.-based hospitality management company, has named Tom Garcia vice president and general manager for Eaglewood Resort & Spa, a Benchmark Resort® and Benchmark Conference Center® located in Northwest Chicago. Greg Champion, Benchmark's executive vice president and COO, made the announcement. In his new leadership role, Tom Garcia will continue his responsibilities as vice president of operations, overseeing several of Benchmark's Midwest properties and the company's Food & Beverage division. Mr. Garcia was appointed to the position in 2012.

Shannon Schurr has been appointed as Director of Sales at Hyatt Place & Hyatt House Chicago Naperville Warrenville

Commonwealth Hotels, Inc. today announced that Shannon Schurr has been appointed Director of Sales for the Hyatt Place and Hyatt House Chicago Naperville Warrenville. The Hyatt Place has 123 rooms and the Hyatt House offers 123 suites. They are both operated by Commonwealth Hotels, LLC.Prior to joining Hyatt house and Hyatt Place, Schurr began her career with Marriott Hotels and Resorts. She has over 17 years in the Hospitality Industry where she held supervisory and management positions in sales, front office operations, convention services and reservations. She also held management positions within Embassy Suites and Hyatt Hotels. Shannon has a wealth of hotel sales and operations background and is a dedicated sales professional. Shannon is originally from the east coast and has been residing in Illinois for the last 18 years. Shannon is looking forward to leading the sales team at the Hyatt house and Hyatt Place, located directly in the Warrenville Naperville area between Winfield, Ferry, and Warrenville roads.

Dean Lane has been named Hotelier of the Year at Illinois Hotel and Lodging Association (IHLA)

On December 19 at the State of Illinois Hotelier of the Year Awards, the Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association (IHLA) presented Dean Lane, General Manager of the Palmer House Hilton, with the Hotelier of the Year award for the State of Illinois. The IHLA represents over 450 hotels across Illinois, making this award highly selective and prestigious. Back in October, Lane won the regional Hotelier of the Year award for Chicago, which qualified him to compete for the state title. Lane will now move forward to represent Illinois at the national finals in April 2014.

Simon A. Fricker has been appointed as General Manager at Le Meridien Chicago

Le Méridien Chicago – Oakbrook Center, slated to open April 2014, announced the appointment of Simon A. Fricker to General Manager. Fricker joins with over 20 years of hospitality experience across world class hotel brands in Zurich, New York, Las Vegas and Miami. Born and raised in Switzerland, Fricker moved to the United States after graduating from an elite program at the Swiss Hotel Management School. His career excelled in Manhattan where he held several esteemed positions at renowned properties, including The Gramercy Park, an Ian Schrager hotel, The Peninsula and The St. Regis. In 2009 Fricker joined the opening team of the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas. The team made history when FORBES awarded triple Five Star designations, for each, the hotel, spa and restaurant. In 2011 Fricker repeated this success with the Mandarin Oriental Miami, including an AAA Five Diamond designation.
