Garan, who began his career with the group in 1985 as banquet manager at the New York Marriott Marquise, has filled key roles including banquet manager, director of events operations, director of food and beverage, and general manager at various Marriott properties around the world.Garam took on his first Middle East assignment as director of food and beverage at the JW Marriot Kuwait City, followed by general manager for Marriott Executive Apartments Manama, Bahrain, and was most recently the general manager at the Doha Marriot Hotel.

Jaouad Sbihi has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at Fairmont Raffles Hotels International (FRHI)

Fairmont Raffles Hotels International (FRHI) has promoted Jaouad Sbihi to the position of director of sales and marketing, Qatar, and tasked him with setting up a representation office for the group in Doha. Moroccan native Sbihi started his hospitality career 13 years ago as a front desk agent in Morocco before moving to Dubai in 2001. Sbihi then joined the pre-opening teams of the Shangri-La Hotel and Kempinski Mall of The Emirates, reaching the position of sales manager travel & trade GCC.

Sue Wheatley has been promoted to Director of Sales & Marketing at Raffles Dubai and Raffles Praslin Seychelles

Sue joined Raffles Dubai as Director of Sales & Marketing in March 2010, having relocated to Dubai from the UK in 1998. Since moving to Dubai, Sue has held senior positions at first-class hotels across the city. She was Assistant Director of Sales at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, guiding the property through its opening, and later promoted to Director of Sales at Emirates Towers. In 2001, Sue took up the position of Director of Business Development & Marketing with Burj Al Arab, later becoming Director of Commerical Development, Global Sales.

Christian Grage has been appointed as VP Operations for Arabian Peninsula at Hilton Worldwide

Grage, formerly Vice President of Operations for Hilton Worldwide's Egypt & Levant region, brings over 25 years of hospitality management experience to the role. Based at the company's Dubai area office, he will be responsible for regional strategy development as well as overseeing all operational matters for 13 hotels across the GCC including UAE, Oman, Kuwait and Qatar. A graduate of the renowned Swiss Hotel Association, Grage, a German national, has a hospitality career which spans six countries and four continents. He is also a founder member of La Chaine des Rotisseurs in Czech Republic, one of the most famous global organisations in international gastronomy.

Andreas Searty has been appointed as Cluster General Manager for Dubai at Hilton Worldwide

Andreas Searty, currently serving as General Manager at Hilton Doha in Qatar, has been appointed to the role of Cluster General Manager for Dubai with responsibility for three Hilton Hotels & Resorts branded properties - Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort, Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Residences and Hilton Dubai Creek. Searty, a fluent Arabic and German speaker, is a seasoned professional with a 30-year international hospitality background. He has worked across the world including UK, Kenya, Oman as well as Qatar, where he was responsible for the opening of Hilton Doha, the company's first hotel in the country which, in its first year of operation, has become an attractive and popular addition to the city landscape.

With 20 years of hospitality experience, Rajat Chatterjee first joined Marriott in 2002 as director of rooms before becoming director of operations at the 355 room JW Marriott, Mumbai. In 2005, Rajat was a part of the pre-opening team of the 236 room Courtyard by Marriott, Chennai as General Manager and helped establish the Courtyard brand in India.
