Winfried Helmetag has been named Executive Chef at Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai

The globe-trotting German national has spent more than 20 years in the Middle East, ten of those years based in the UAE, from hotels in Ajman to Abu Dhabi. His career in the Arab world began with a stint in Cairo in 1980, returning to the country a number of times throughout his career. He has also spent a period in Bahrain and two separate spells in Jordan, one of those years working as a personal chef for King Abdullah II. For the last seven years Chef Winfried has worked as Executive Chef for two Kempinski Hotels in the UAE. His wanderlust was not restricted to the Middle East, however, and he has also spent periods working in Scotland, London, Cyprus and Moscow.

Rouxshin Vajifdar has been appointed as Director of Sales at Holiday Inn Dubai

• New Director of Sales at the Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha is Rouxshin Vajifdar, who has been promoted from her former role as Assistant Director of Sales. Since joining the hotel in March 2010, Rouxshin has been responsible for the Sales, Revenue and Reservations Department, as well as assisting with food and beverage promotions. Rouxshin has been in charge of these departments for the past one year. Her previous associations have been with Habtoor Hospitality, Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts and Hyatt International.

Jardine Ong has been named training manager at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates

Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates as appointed Jardine Ong as its new training manager within the hotel's Human Resources team. With a career in human resources training and consultancy spanning seven years, Ong is expected to play an important role in fostering a healthy and productive employee culture as well as boosting effective performance within the organisation, a statement said. Ong moves to Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates from Azadea Group ‒ one of the leading retail franchise groups in the UAE ‒ where she served as a training manager since 2009. Ong holds a Bachelors degree in science in Human Resource Development and several specialist trainer certifications including an internationally recognised DiSC Certification in Psychometric Behavioural Profiling.

Yannis Anagnostakis has been named Area General Manager at InterContinental Dubai Festival City

InterContinental Dubai Festival City has appointed Yannis Anagnostakis as its new area general manager, replacing Tom Meyer who has relocated to Bali with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). Anagnostakis is moving from his position as general manager for Emirates Towers, having previously worked for Hilton in Athens, Cairo, London and Durban. He has also worked extensively for IHG, the world’s largest hotel group by number of rooms, before, in Miami, San Francisco and Toronto.

Jean Michel Offe has been named vice-president, food & beverage at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, a luxury brand known for its award-winning restaurants and skilled culinary talents, has announced the appointment of Jean Michel Offe as vice-president, food & beverage. Most recently group director, food & beverage for Shangri-La Asia, Offe’s past experience includes a range of food & beverage and operation management related positions with Shangri-La Hotels and executive chef posts with InterContinental Hotels in Dubai, Oman and Indonesia. His detailed understanding of the food & beverage industry, in particular restaurant repositioning and reconcepting, combined with his international exposure will help Fairmont continue to deliver exceptional service as it grows the brand in global markets. As well, his food and beverage philosophy mirrors that of Fairmont, which is to offer local and authentic cuisine that provides a true reflection of the destination. “Whether it’s local flavours, sustainability or fresh and healthy cuisine, diners today are much more knowledgeable and discerning when it comes to the nuances of a fine dining experience. Paul Hawco has been appointed as Spa Director of Talise Ottoman Spa at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray

Paul Hawco recently joined Jumeirah Zabeel Saray as the Spa Director of Talise Ottoman Spa from the Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver (Canada). Graduating with honours from Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 2000, Paul started his career at New World Fitness Health and Wellness in Canada before joining Mount Pearl Chiropractic and Massage Clinic as an Operator and Massage Therapist. Paul has 16 years of experience in the spa and wellness industry complemented by his nine-year tenure with Fairmont Resorts primarily in Canada. Paul is also currently studying for his Executive Leadership Certificate with ECornell. In his role Paul will lead the day-to-day operations of the spa and build on the considerable reputation of the Talise brand.

Lindsay Madden-Nadeau has been appointed as Spa Director of Talise Spa at Madinat Jumeirah

Lindsay Madden-Nadeau is the newly appointed Spa Director of Talise Spa in Madinat Jumeirah. She joined Jumeirah in August 2011 from Raffles Dubai and brings with her a wealth of international experience following six years working in Bermuda with the Fairmont Southampton, inclusive of the pre-opening of the Willow Stream Spa as a therapist and trainer. In 2007 Lindsay moved to the United Arab Emirates as an Assistant Spa Manager in charge of Treatments for the pre-opening of Raffles Dubai. Lindsay was also involved in the pre-opening of Raffles Seychelles where she assisted with training, structure and set up. Her 14-year experience in hospitality reflects her passion for service and excellence. Lindsay studied at the Canadian Therapeutic College where she obtained a full license in registered massage therapy. In this role, Lindsay will ensure that Talise Spa and Wellness facilities in Madinat Jumeirah are enjoyed by in-house guests and residents of Dubai alike.

Bruno Fischer has been appointed as Executive Assistant Manager (EAM) at The Crowne Plaza Dubai-Deira

German-born Bruno Fischer has joined the team as executive assistant manager, bringing 18 years’ experience to the post, 11 of which have been spent with IHG. Fischer joins from Crowne Plaza Hotel Bahrain where he was director of rooms.
