The 108-suite Residence Inn by Marriott hotel in La Quinta, California opened its doors in December. Located at 79-675 Highway 111, the all-suite property will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned by LQ Hospitality Group, LLC and managed by Sunridge Hotel Group of Mesa, Arizona. General Manager LaShan Pope and Director of Sales Emily Steiding lead the management team at the property for Sunridge Hotel Group.
Nested beneath the Santa Rosa Mountains, La Quinta Resort & Club is known as the original Hollywood hideaway where Foelske will oversee the day-to-day operations at the iconic, 777 room resort. In addition, Foelske will work closely with staff to ensure all resort functions are efficient and organized across the resort's amenities including 41 outdoor pools, 21 tennis courts, seven distinctive restaurants and the award-winning Spa La Quinta. An industry veteran with over 25 years of hospitality management experience, Foelske most recently served as the Director of Food & Beverage Operations at Hilton Atlanta where he was responsible for budgeting and forecasting, strategic planning, marketing, and special projects for all food and beverage, banquets and events at the 1,249-room convention property. Prior to that, Foelske worked for Sheraton Hotels & Resorts where served as General Manager at Sheraton Poznan Hotel in Poznan, Poland and Hotel Resident Manager at Sheraton Warsaw Hotel in Warsaw, Poland. Foelske has a track record of successful business development in increasing occupancy, guest satisfaction scores, and revenue streams. Throughout his career, Foelske has been credited with improving profit margins, heading teams to double digit growth year after year, and leading hotel operations teams during extensive Hotel and Food & Beverage refurbishment and renovation projects.
La Quinta Resort & Club, A Waldorf Astoria Resort announces the appointment of Christina Cabrera as Director of Spa and Fitness. The original desert hideaway and longtime favorite escape of the Hollywood elite, La Quinta Resort & Club offers a holistic wellness experience beginning at the 23,000 square-foot Spa La Quinta and state-of-the-art fitness center. Cabrera will oversee operations and programming at Spa La Quinta, including spa menu development, product selection and the creation of seasonal promotions. Cabrera will also manage the resort's extensive fitness program that includes a wide variety of complimentary classes such as high-intensity spin, TRX, rejuvenating flow yoga and meditation.

La Quinta Resort & Club and PGA WEST, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, announced the appointment of Lynne Rolley as Executive Director of Tennis, effective December 15, 2015. Rolley will be responsible for the leadership and oversight of all tennis operations at La Quinta Resort & Club including instruction, clinics, seasonal tennis camps and educational/social programs serving the 776-guestroom resort and members of The Citrus Club at La Quinta Resort. Consistently ranked one of the top tennis resorts in the U.S., by Tennis Magazine, La Quinta's state-of-the-art facility includes 23 courts (5 Har-Tru clay, 18 hard courts) and signature tournament-style stadium center court, as well as a pro shop and Center Court Cafe. A USPTA certified teaching professional with more than 40 years of instruction and coaching expertise, Rolley previously served as Director of Tennis at Berkeley Tennis Club in Berkeley, California where she was responsible for all member operations since 2007. She also held posts as Tournament Director for the Girls' 18 & Under National Championships and the Pacific Coast Senior & Family National Championships. Her lifelong passion turned career also included posts as Director of Women's Tennis for the United States Tennis Association (USTA) wherein she coached Jennifer Capriati and U.S. Open winner Lindsey Davenport to center court. Rolley was also Director of Programs for the USTA's Player Development including collegiate tennis. She is also the first woman to coach a men's NCAA collegiate tennis team in the U.S., early in her career at St. Mary's College in Moraga, California. Ranked in the top ten as a junior player in the USTA, Rolley resides in Palm Desert and is a certified PTR and USPTA Elite Pro 1, member of the ITF International Coaches Commission and 2008 inductee into the Northern California Tennis Hall of Fame.
Ely joins La Quinta Resort & Club and the Hilton Worldwide family from the Fairmont Newport Beach, where he served as director of group sales. During his tenure at the Fairmont, Ely was credited with achieving the hotel's best year ever in sales performance, leading his sales team to achieve a number two ranking among the 122 Fairmont Brand hotels. Ely has a solid background in hospitality sales with noted achievements at Caesars Entertainment, Fairmont Mayakoba - Riviera, Mexico, LXR Beach Resort of Sanibel & Captiva Island, Florida, Marriott and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.
A veteran of the hospitality industry with nearly 25 years' experience, Rutland previously served as director of sales & marketing at the coveted Stein Erikson Lodge Deer Valley -- Utah's only Forbes 5-Star/AAA 5-Diamond property -- in addition to management of three additional portfolio properties, The Chateaux Deer Valley, The Chateaux Residences and Stein Eriksen Residences. During his tenure with SELMC, Rutland was credited with a series of major accomplishments including generating $1.2 million in group revenue for the new Stein Eriksen Ballroom, boosting mobile and integrated web booking by $1.2 million and annually outpacing sales projections by up to 124 percent. Rutland also held executive positions at a number of prestigious California-based properties including The Beverly Hilton and Raffles L'Ermitage in Beverly Hills and dedicated 19 years to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, holding multiple posts throughout the U.S.
Herman will oversee all aspects of marketing and communications for the renowned desert resort featuring 796 elegantly-appointed casitas and suites, Spa La Quinta®, three restaurants, 23 tennis courts and famed PGA WEST which includes five award-winning public golf courses. A veteran of the leisure hospitality industry with over 15 years of experience, Herman previously served as regional director of marketing for KSL Resorts in La Quinta, Calif., in a newly-created position which included multi-property oversight, repositioning of new properties and strategic development of the hotel management company's desert portfolio. During his tenure with KSL Resorts, Herman was credited with a series of major accomplishments including the successful launch and rebrand of Montelucia Resort & Spa and boosting market share for the Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa product. Raised in New Jersey and a current resident of La Quinta, Calif., Herman received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from the University of Maryland, is a member of HSMAI and has been named a "Top 40 under 40" by Palm Springs Life magazine.
With more than 25 years of hospitality industry experience, Blackburn worked with the Marriott Global Sales team for five years, providing strategic leadership for a team of well-seasoned sales professionals. Prior to that, he was the director of sales and marketing for The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas, where he helped significantly increase property revenues, achieving record-setting room sales for the five diamond resort. He was also area director of sales and marketing for three distinctively different Marriott properties in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. He began his hospitality career at Marriott International in Atlanta, GA, holding a series of increasingly responsible leadership positions in food and beverage and sales and marketing.
Johnson formerly operated Transformational Spa Concepts, a spa management and development consulting business, and has been involved with Spa La Quinta up to now as a hands-on consultant – conceptualizing a new spa menu inspired by indigenous elements, developing intensive new staff training procedures and overseeing spa upgrades. Her ability to take vision to form is evident, as Spa La Quinta recently received SpaFinder’s 2010 Readers Choice Awards in three categories. Previously, Johnson was contracted by Sea Island Resorts to develop, launch and operate the acclaimed 65,000-square-foot Cloister Spa and Fitness Center in Sea Island, Ga., and was instrumental in attaining Forbes Five-Star status for the Cloister Spa. She also spearheaded and was charged with the development of the award-winning lifestyle programming, and the development, training and operations of the 40,000-square-foot spa, Lotus Salon and Retail, at The Lodge at Woodloch in Hawley, Pa. She was the director of spa services and fitness for Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort; and general manager of The Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center and Medical Practice in Patagonia, Ariz.
A seasoned hotel executive with more than 20 years of experience, Pedone was most recently vice president of sales and marketing for Hotels & Resorts of Halekulani, a position he held for six years. In his role with this venerable Hawaiian hotel company, Pedone directed the sales, marketing and public relations efforts for the 455-room landmark Halekulani and the 297-room Waikiki Parc Hotel, both luxurious oceanfront properties on Honolulu’s famed Waikiki Beach. In addition, he has served as director of sales and marketing for a number of other high-end hotels, including the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica, the former Ritz-Carlton Huntington Hotel & Spa in Pasadena and the Hyatt Regency Hilton Head in South Carolina, as well as the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach. He was also the general manager for Adam’s Mark Hotels and Resorts in Houston and San Antonio, and began his career with Sheraton Hotels and Resorts. Pedone is affiliated with several professional organizations, among them the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and Chaine de Rotisseurs.
