Radisson Blu Edwardian is definitely a hotel group with a sense of humour; a delicate wit, you might say, bringing a gentle smile to the face rather than a belly-laugh or a chortle - but still a sense of humour that many hotels don’t possess. This sense of playfulness is evident in the design of the same group’s Guildford hotel as well as in the quirky decoration of its Mercer Street Hotel, which as far as we know is the only luxury hotel in Covent Garden with its own sheep mascot. The UK will only welcome an additional 330,000 international visitors as a direct result of hosting the London 2012 Olympics, reveals research at WTM Vision Conference London. Euromonitor International Head of Travel and Tourism Research Caroline Bremner told senior travel industry delegates, at the event organised by Reed Travel Exhibition"s World Travel Market, the UK will welcome 29.4m international visitors this year, a 2% increase on 2011, or 588,000.

Which? has denounced prestigious establishments for charging as much as £85 for little more than a cup of tea and a couple of scones, branding the practice ‘highway robbery’. The consumer watchdog found that the five-star Lanesborough hotel in Knightsbridge offers an £85 per person afternoon tea, albeit accompanied by a glass of 1998 Prestige Krug champagne.
