Accor's Fairmont Brand Planning for 2025 Opening of Phoenix Property

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, part of world leading hospitality group Accor, together with Thunderbird Legacy Development, today announced the signing of definitive agreements for the development and management of a new Fairmont Hotel and Residences in downtown Phoenix. Scheduled to open in early 2025, Fairmont Phoenix will offer a luxury hotel and residential experience unlike anything in the downtown market and will join an impressive portfolio of iconic luxury hotels in North America, including brand flagships such as Fairmont Grand del Mar in San Diego; The Plaza, a Fairmont Managed Hotel in New York City; and the recently reimagined Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, among others. Fairmont Phoenix will be located in downtown Phoenix at the southern end of the Central Business District, just a short walk from the Phoenix Convention Center, the sports and entertainment district and the emerging Warehouse District. The 25-story property will feature 225 guestrooms, including 34 suites, and 151 Fairmont branded residences. The generously sized guestrooms will represent the highest quality room in the downtown Phoenix market with sweeping views of downtown, the South Mountains, Tempe, and Camelback Mountain.

Abby Murtagh has been appointed as General Manager at Arizona Biltmore, A Waldorf Astoria Resort

Debuting May 1, 2021 after a landmark transformation, Arizona Biltmore, A Waldorf Astoria Resort is pleased to announce the appointment of Abby Murtagh as general manager. A renowned hotelier, Murtagh will usher in the groundbreaking reimagination of the sprawling 39-acre Frank Lloyd Wright inspired desert gem. As general manager, Murtagh will oversee general operations and development of the next chapter in the legendary resort's history. She holds over two decades of executive leadership experience within heritage lifestyle, hotel and entertainment brands including Hilton Hotels & Resorts, The New York Palace, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and Hershey Entertainment Resorts. As executive director at The New York Palace, she oversaw a $35 million food and beverage renovation of seven onsite restaurants and bars. She then went on to become the resident manager at the Waldorf Astoria New York where she managed all guest room operations and launched a New York Times-reviewed dining concept. Prior to joining Arizona Biltmore, Murtagh served as general manager of the Hilton Salt Lake City Center where she successfully led the downtown convention hotel through its highest levels of profit in 2019 and remained open through the pandemic.
