Sonia Lefevre has been appointed as General Manager at The Langham, Sydney

Sonia Lefevre has been appointed general manager of the newly rebranded The Langham, Sydney, formerly known as The Observatory Hotel. With 15 years of solid experience as a sales and marketing specialist for international luxury hotels, Lefevre will play a pivotal role in leading The Langham, Sydney’s team to raise the hotel’s profile, drive sales and marketing initiatives and ensure the delivery of quality products and enchanting hospitality to guests. Prior to joining The Langham Sydney, Lefevre was the hotel manager of The Langham, Hong Kong for two years.

Marcus Hanna has been appointed as General Manager at Sofitel Brisbane Central

Previously the General Manager for Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach, Hanna brings a wealth of experience to Brisbane’s largest luxury property with previous appointments in London, Malta and San Francisco. Prior to his move to Queensland, Marcus oversaw the opening of Pullman Sydney Olympic Park, the first property of its type in the Pacific. An avid rower, Hanna has represented Australia at the world rowing championships; and is looking forward to returning to the water in Brisbane, where he was a member of the Australian rowing squad in the early 90’s. Marcus will relocate to Brisbane with his wife Kelly and young son Daniel.

Amery Burleigh has been appointed as General Manager at Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach

Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach is proud to announce the appointment of Amery Burleigh to the role of GM, effectively making her the first female General Manager in any Sofitel Australia wide. Ms Burleigh joins the Gold Coast team straight from two years as Executive Assistant Manager at sister property, Sofitel Brisbane Central. Amery Burleigh has many a years experience in five-star hotels which started in Silicon Valley at The Fairmont Hotel. She then joined Fours Seasons Hotels and Resorts and over a 10 year span, worked her way up through all areas of Food and Beverage in Seattle, Atlanta, Santa Barbara, San Francisco and Sydney properties to Director of Food and Beverage. Joining Accor in 2007, Burleigh worked briefly at Mercure Sydney as Director of Food and Beverage before moving to Novotel Brisbane where she held the role as Hotel Manager. She replaces Marcus Hanna who has been appointed General Manager of the Sofitel Brisbane Central, effective June 2012.

Simon McGrath has been appointed as CEO, Australia at Accor

Simon joined Accor in 2005 as General Manager, Sofitel Reef Casino Cairns and was later appointed Regional General Manager, overseeing all hotel operations in Northern Australia and Western Australia in addition to his role at the Sofitel. Simon’s career has allowed him to work in Thailand, Malaysia, Hamilton Island, Ayers Rock, Gold Coast, Cairns and Sydney. Resorts feature as a key element of Simon’s background; having worked at Ayers Rock Resort and Hamilton Island Resort in Executive roles. In December 2006 Simon McGrath was appointed to the position of Vice President Australia responsible for all Accor’s Australian hotels and in March 2012 Simon was promoted to the role of Chief Executive Officer for Accor Australia.
