Mandarin Oriental, Munich has reopened following the most extensive renovation in the hotel's history and just in time for its 20th anniversary. In keeping with the successful restoration of its public areas and the introduction of Matsuhisa Munich in 2015, the hotel has now unveiled all new guest rooms and suites to confirm its postion as one of the leading luxury hotels in Germany.
New management at IntercityHotel: Sandra Wiegmann has become the new Director of the IntercityHotel Kassel with effect from 1 October. Ms. Wiegmann replaces Petra Bantle. Sandra Wiegmann already works for Deutsche Hospitality, having served as Revenue Manager and Head of Reservations at the Steigenberger Grandhotel & Spa Heringsdorf since September 2016. Ms. Wiegmann completed an hotel specialist apprenticeship before going on to obtain a degree in Tourism Management. Her career has also included stints at the Travel Charme Strandidyll Heringsdorf, the Travel Charme Gothisches Haus in Wernigerode and the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Schwerin.
New management at IntercityHotel: Nikolaus Kunz has been appointed Director of the IntercityHotel Erfurt, also with effect from 1 October. Mr. Kunz will be following in the footsteps of Jürgen Kramer, who is retiring after more than 42 years with the company.
New management at IntercityHotel: Petra Bantle, will move to the IntercityHotel Dortmund in order to guide the hotel through its pre-opening phase and to take on the role of General Manager. Petra Bantle has her own prior experience with the Deutsche Hospitality brand portfolio. After vocational education and training in the occupation of hotel specialist at the Steigenberger Hotel Freudenstadt, Ms. Bantle held a range of different positions at the Steigenberger Hotel Bad Homburg, the Steigenberger Hotel Dortmund, the Steigenberger Inselhotel Konstanz and the IntercityHotel Ulm before being named Director of the IntercityHotel Kassel in 2014.
Promoting innovation and e-mobility - Rainer Zietlow, an experienced tour driver with the Mannheim-based special agency CHALLENGE4, sent out a strong signal for the future viability of e-mobility this afternoon as he embarked upon on a marathon 20,000-kilometre trip through Germany in a VW ID.3 electric car. Deutsche Hospitality supports this ambitious project by sponsoring overnight accommodation and catering costs. Olga Zielinski will take charge of the hotel with effect from 18 September 2020, when she takes over as General Manager from Sascha Nemeth. Ms. Zielinski has been working for RIMC for several years and has recently completed a highly successful stint as Director of the hotel the YARD in Berlin.
The Steigenberger Hotel Stadt Lörrach, which is located in the south west of the State of Baden-Württemberg and is operated by the RIMC Hotels & Resorts Group, has now successfully reopened. There has never been a hotel located so close to an airfield. The new 322-room Steigenberger Airport Hotel Berlin will open on schedule on 31 October 2020 to coincide with the launch of flight operations at Berlin Brandenburg Airport. The hotel will be sited immediately alongside the main terminal building. Its Director will be Steffi Wisotzky, who has recently turned the IntercityHotel Berlin Hauptbahnhof into one of the brand's most successful hotels. The landmark Steigenberger Airport Hotel Berlin will raise Steigenberger Hotels' presence in the German capital to three. The Hamburg-based property developer ECE was in charge of the development, leasing and realisation of the new Airport Hotel. ECE was also responsible for ensuring that the hotel was completed on schedule and that it will be ready to open at the time when the new airport is due to commence operations.

The Zleep Hotel Hannover is set to become the third hotel in Germany to operate under the Scandinavian brand Zleep. The hotel is being developed in conjunction with Krasemann Immobilien, a property group which is responsible for the realisation of the project. The Zleep Hotel in Hanover will be a new build extending over five floors. Scheduled to open at the end of 2022, it will offer 124 Nordic-design rooms, a generously proportioned lounge delivering a true sense of "hygge" flair, an integrated reception space, a lobby and a breakfast and bar area. Zleep Hotels are presently also under development in Hamburg, Frankfurt/the Rhine-Main region, Madrid, Prague and Zurich. Further locations are at the planning stage.
Danny Vorwerk is originally from the Netherlands, and the most recent appointments he has held have been Operations Manager at the Steigenberger Hotel Amsterdam and Financial Controller Netherlands for Deutsche Hospitality. After studying for a Bachelor degree in Hotel Management at the Hogeschool Notenboom in Hilversum, Mr. Vorwerk launched his professional career by securing various positions at NH Hotels in the Netherlands and Belgium. He finally arrived at Steigenberger after roles at BCN Utrecht and as Financial Controller Europe for the Azimut Hotel Group.
56-year old Richard Engelmayer completed vocational training in the occupation of cook before securing his first managerial position as Assistant Food & Beverage Manager at the Steigenberger Airport Hotel Frankfurt in 1993. After various stints as Food & Beverage Manager, Deputy Director and Hotel Manager at the same hotel, Mr. Engelmayer went on to become its General Manager between 2013 and 2018.
Michael Kain has been appointed to the position of General Manager at the Steigenberger Bad Homburg and will take up his new duties on 01. August. Mr. Kain has held a number of leadership roles at Steigenberger Hotels AG during more than 35 years with the company. The renovation and repositioning programmes carried out at the Steigenberger Parkhotel and the Steigenberger Grandhotel & Spa Petersberg are just two of the tasks he has successfully managed. After ten years, he is now returning to Bad Homburg. "Michael Kain is an excellent hotel manager and the perfect choice for this particular location," said Thomas Willms, CEO of Deutsche Hospitality. "He has gained a wealth of experience in the luxury hotel segment which he will now be able to put to good use for the Steigenberger Hotel Bad Homburg." Mr. Kain was also named Hotel Manager of the Year for 2020 by Trebing-Lecost, a publishing house which specialises in hotel guides.

The IntercityHotel family is continuing to grow. A new generation IntercityHotel is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2022 in Paderborn, a university city in North Rhine-Westphalia with over 150,000 inhabitants. Paderborn is in great demand as a venue for conferences and meetings.
