Scandic taking over central hotel in Frankfurt, Germany

Scandic Hotels, the largest hotel operator in the Nordic countries, is expanding in Germany with a city hotel in Frankfurt. The company has signed a long-term lease agreement with SH.I.R Real Estate regarding the operation of the current Wyndham Grand Frankfurt. The hotel, which will be called Scandic Frankfurt Museumsufer, will open under Scandic"s management in the beginning of 2018 after a major renovation to expand the restaurant section and create new meeting rooms for 450 conference guests.

AC Hotel Mainz opens as Brand’s First Property in Germany

AC Hotels by Marriott, a lifestyle hotel brand from Marriott International (NASDAQ:MAR), has opened today AC Hotel Mainz, the brand"s first property in Germany, offering entrepreneurial spirits a new way to hotel in the destination of Mainz. As the first boutique-style hotel in Mainz, the property adds to the brand"s growing global portfolio of more than 100 design-led hotels located in Brazil, Denmark, France, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States.

NOVUM opens first niu in Essen

The opening date for the first niu lifestyle brand hotel is fixed. From 15 November 2017, globetrotters, business people, young and old can check into one of the 145 rooms at the new niu Cobbles in one of Essen"s most central locations at the corner of Kruppstrasse and Friedrichstrasse. The EUROPACENTER Immobiliengruppe has developed office and commercial space on this pocket of land in several construction sections spread over a total of 50,000 m². The NOVUM Hotel Group has leased the new hotel building from EUROPA-CENTER and the interior architects JOI-Design are currently putting the final touches to the design features on behalf of the Group.

Thomas Fischer has been appointed as General Manager at Steigenberger Hotel Munich

45-year old Thomas Fischer has been named as General Manager of the Steigenberger Hotel Munich, which will open its doors in December 2017. Himself a native of Munich, Mr. Fischer is able to offer wide-ranging experience in the hotel branch. He most recently worked as a General Manager for Corinthia Hotels & Resorts in London and Budapest, and prior to this fulfilled the same role for Kempinski Hotels & Resorts in cities including Frankfurt and Moscow. Mr. Fischer has completed a Masters degree in Business Administration and the “General Manager Program” offered by Cornell University in the USA.

Renovation of the Europäischer Hof Baden-Baden continues apace

The Europäischer Hof Baden-Baden, the founding hotel of Steigenberger Hotels AG, is currently undergoing extensive renovation and conversion works. Developer Martin Buchli, Baden Baden"s Mayor Margret Mergen, Head Architect Peter W. Kruse and Matthias Heck, CFO of Steigenberger Hotels AG, were all on hand today to attend the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the new build of the Luise Wing of the hotel. Once complete, this part of the building will house an elegant arcade of shops, 45 rooms and suites and a roof top glass pavilion offering a terrace. Until the scheduled reopening in 2019, the hotel"s inner courtyard will also be redesigned so as to expose the main historic building in all its glory. The Europäischer Hof will provide a total of 122 rooms and suites once the conversion and renovation programme has been concluded. There will also be several bars and restaurants to meet all the culinary needs of the guests as well as a spa and gym area extending over an area of around 900 square metres. Four conference rooms will be available.

Steigenberger Hotel Stadt Lörrach opens its doors

By opening the Steigenberger Hotel Stadt Lörrach on 1 June, Deutsche Hospitality and RIMC Hotels & Resorts are expanding their cooperation and strengthening their presence on the German market. RIMC will act as lessee of the hotel and Deutsche Hospitality as franchisor of the Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts brand. The town of Lörrach is located only five kilometres from the famous tri-point where the borders of Germany, France and Switzerland meet.
