Vincent Wallez has been appointed as Executive Chef at Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya

Wallez was born and raised in Bayonne, France but has since traveled the globe developing his signature culinary style. His skills have been recognized by world-class resorts and restaurants, earning him tenure at multiple five-star establishments, from Russia to the Caribbean. Prior to joining the Andaz Mayakoba team, Wallez held the title of Executive Chef at Nizuc Resort and Spa in Mexico where he elevated Cancún’s gourmet scene. Now appointed at Andaz Mayakoba as Executive Chef, he will work to follow the Andaz brand ethos of providing inspiring, indigenous and unscripted experiences, creating new culinary and cocktail offerings unique to Mayakoba and Riviera Maya. In his cooking, Chef Wallez seeks a balance between flavors and classic techniques, focusing on fresh ingredients and visionary touches which can be found in all four of the diverse and unique restaurant concepts at the resort.

Stephan Karl has been appointed as Executive Assistant Manager of Food & Beverage at Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya

Karl arrives to the Andaz Mayakoba team with international experience and a creative flare for the position. He began his Hyatt career in 2006 as the Assistant Banqueting Manager at Hyatt Regency Mainz in Germany and has remained a part of the Hyatt family ever since. He continued on to hold executive positions at various Hyatt brands across the world, namely Park Hyatt in both Dubai, UAE and Sydney, Australia, as well as the Grand Hyatt Beijing. He has a strong belief in keeping a constant eye on the local culture and staying current. Karl enjoys exploring Riviera Maya and beyond with his family, getting to know Mexican culture and cuisine firsthand. Karl will work closely with Chef Wallez on developing the food and beverage concepts for each of the four unique dining venues at the resort as well as overseeing catering for meetings and events.

Tulio Baruch has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya

Baruch comes to Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya with extensive senior management and hospitality experience, having held previous senior executive sales and marketing roles in renowned Mexican hotels such as Nizuc, Rosewood Mayakoba, and Presidente Intercontinental. Born in Mexico, Baruch received his bachelor’s degree in hotel management from La Salle University in Cancún and holds deep insight into the Riviera Maya tourism markets, giving him a unique advantage. Baruch will manage bookings for the resort’s 14,000 square feet of meeting and event space including five meeting and event studios and a 6,000-square-foot ballroom, ensuring an unrivaled group experience for both business and social guests.

Carlos Hannon has been appointed as Executive Chef at Rosewood San Miguel de Allende

Carlos Hannon has been appointed executive chef of Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, Mexico’s preeminent luxury boutique hotel. In this role, Chef Hannon will lead the talented culinary team at the hotel’s three distinctive dining venues: 1826 Restaurant, Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar and La Cava. Chef Hannon’s appointment marks his return to the hotel and the Rosewood brand, having last served as executive chef at Rosewood San Miguel de Allende from 2010 – 2012 as a part of the hotel’s pre-opening team. Chef Hannon also played an important role on the pre-opening teams for Rosewood Mayakoba and Rosewood Sand Hill, and also was the executive chef at Rosewood Little Dix Bay in 2012.

Angela Garcia Carrasco has been appointed as General Manager at Royal Hideaway Playacar

Ms. Garcia-Carrasco brings 22 years of international hospitality experience to her role leading the hotel, with over 11 years in the function of general manager. She has held positions with many of the world’s leading hotel brands, including Hilton, InterContinental Hotels, NH Hotels and others. She joins Royal Hideaway Playacar after holding management positions at top hotels and resorts across Europe. Her expertise also includes advanced hospitality management, protocol and diplomacy studies at top-notch institutions including Cornell University, the International School of Protocol & Diplomacy and many others.

Claudia Pacheco has been appointed as Director Of Sales & Marketing at Royal Hideaway Playacar

As Director of Sales and Marketing for Royal Hideaway Playacar, Claudia Pacheco arrives after achieving success in numerous positions within the industry, most recently at Starwood Resorts Mexico, where she held the position of Director of US Leisure Sales. Prior to that, Ms. Pacheco notably served as the Director of Sales & Marketing at Mahekal Beach Resort and in a leisure sales capacity with Fairmont Mayakoba. Her career has included a specialization in group sales, corporate marketing, tour & travel management and promotions. In her new position, Ms. Pacheco will lead day-to-day operations of the Sales & Marketing team, focusing on implementing sales and marketing strategies targeted toward both new and existing markets.

Lin Schatz has been appointed as General Manager at Andaz Mayakoba Resort

The new Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya, set to open December 2016 in Riviera Maya, Mexico is pleased to announce the appointment of Lin Schatz as General Manager, leading the opening of the property and managing all aspects of the pre-opening stages of development. In his new role, Schatz will also be responsible for overseeing all property operations.A hospitality and Hyatt veteran, Schatz began his career with Hyatt Hotels Corporation more than 25 years ago. Prior to joining Andaz Mayakoba Resort, Schatz most recently served as General Manager at Andaz West Hollywood in Los Angeles and numerous other locations including Hyatt Key West where he was nominated for General Manager of the Year – Small Hotels.
