Room Mate Hotels, the international hotel chain founded and led by Kike Sarasola, is launching its latest brand: Room Mate Beach Hotels. Next summer, it will open its first beachfront hotel - Room Mate Olivia - owned by HIP, in Calviá, Mallorca.
Zleep Hotels is set to make its debut in southern Europe. Deutsche Hospitality has signed an agreement for the first Zleep Hotel in Spain which will position the young economy brand outside Scandinavia for the very first time. In late 2021, the Zleep Hotel Madrid Airport will open close to the capital's international airport and the Principe Felipe Congress Centre. It will offer 280 rooms and will join the Steigenberger Hotel & Resort Camp de Mar on Mallorca to become the second Deutsche Hospitality hotel in Spain.

For the first time in over 60 years of this association's career, the presidency falls to the representative of a Hotel-School in the Spanish State.
AMResorts, an Apple Leisure Group (ALG) company, and Hesperia Hotels & Resorts, a Spanish hotel group, announced the debut of the second Secrets Resorts & Spas property in Europe with Secrets Lanzarote Resort & Spa. Hilton (NYSE: HLT) announced the signing of a franchise agreement with Palacio de Arozteguia S.L. to open Hotel Palacio de Arozteguia Baztan, Curio Collection by Hilton, the first Curio Collection hotel in Northern Spain. A 14th-century palace of great architectural importance and a renovated historical landmark in the Navarra region, the 126-guest-room hotel is expected to open before the end of 2022.

Hilton has appointed David Kelly to the role of Senior Vice President, Operations, Continental Europe. Joining Hilton's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region from his current position overseeing Greater China and Mongolia, Kelly will oversee the operations of 57 hotels across 26 European countries. Kelly takes on his new role following the transfer of Jochem-Jan Sleiffer to become Hilton's Area President of Middle East, Africa & Turkey. Kelly joined Hilton in 1995, based in the USA, before heading to Australia to work in various operations and commercial roles for the company. Moving to China in 2012, at a critically important time for the company in Asia, he spearheaded the multi-brand growth of the China portfolio from 34 to over 210 hotels. In his current role since 2017, he has also led on various initiatives including strategic planning for China, setting out Hilton's vision for business growth in the region and by helping create a new localized version of the Hilton Garden Inn brand for the Chinese market. Kelly has championed diversity throughout his career, supporting the development of female leaders and increasing the number of women in General Manager positions. Kelly will assume his new position on 1 January 2020 and be based in Hilton’s regional office in Barcelona. He will relocate to the region with his wife Carol and son, Jayden.
