Marc Eichenberger has been appointed as Director at Grand Hotel Kronenhof

As of 1 April 2013, Marc Eichenberger will assume the position of Director of Grand Hotel Kronenhof, Pontresina, with responsibility for the hotel’s day-to-day operations. A 37-year-old Swiss national, Marc Eichenberger is a graduate of the Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern, where he qualified as an Hotelier and Restaurateur. He has extensive knowledge of the luxury hotel segment in Switzerland, having previously worked at the Arabella Sheraton Atlantis Hotel Baur au Lac in Zurich, Park Weggis Hotel in Lake Lucerne and Suvretta House in St. Moritz; the four years he spent at the latter means he also has excellent knowledge of the Engadine Valley. Both the Kulm Hotel St. Moritz and its sister property Grand Hotel Kronenhof are owned by the Niarchos family.

Lars Wagner has been named General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Geneva

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced that Marco Torriani will retire after 12 years as General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Geneva effective 31 December 2012.Mr Torriani retires following a 30 year illustrious career in the luxury hospitality industry in senior hotel management positions around the world. He joined Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in 2000 when the Group acquired the Rafael Group of hotels, including Hotel du Rhône in Geneva, where Torriani had been General Manager since 1989. During his time at Mandarin Oriental, Geneva, he successfully oversaw the hotel’s rebranding and renovation programme as well as the opening of the hotel’s “Le Sud Brasserie” and the Michelin starred “Rasoi by Vineet”. He has been instrumental in positioning the hotel as one of Switzerland’s leading luxury hotels. Mr Torriani will be succeeded by Lars Wagner with effect from 1 January 2013. Mr Wagner joined the Group in 2007 as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Munich during which time he oversaw the renovation of the hotel’s signature suites and guest facilities. He has successfully raised the profile of Mandarin Oriental, Munich both locally and internationally through his passion, creative management style and commitment to positioning the hotel as the leading luxury hotel in Germany.

Charlotte Renaud Boutilly has been appointed as Executive Assistant Manager at Le Mirador Kempinski

Recently appointed GM Jean-Marc Boutilly will be assisted in his daily task by his wife, Charlotte Renaud Boutilly, who is appointed as Executive Assistant of Le Mirador Kempinski Mont-Pèlerin Lake Geneva. Charlotte Renaud Boutilly who graduated from the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, her hometown, began her career at the Lausanne Palace & Spa as Sales Manager and later as Seminar & Banqueting Coordinator. She joined then the Hotel des Trois Couronnes in Vevey where she held the Hotel Manager position for more than 5 years before she made the decision to join the Crans Ambassador in Crans-Montana as Executive Assistant until August, 2012.

Jean-Marc Boutilly has been appointed as General Manager at Le Mirador Kempinski

Jean-Marc Boutilly is the new General Manager of Le Mirador Kempinski in Le Mont-Pèlerin. He replaced Jean-Marc Michel who has been transferred to Kempinski Seychelles Resort in Baie Lazare as the new General Manager. With more than 20 years of work experience in the hospitality industry in the Lake Geneva area, Jean-Marc Boutilly built up a strong background in food & beverage as well as luxury hotel management, and developed a passion for driving quality and service excellence. Graduated from Strasbourg Hotel and Catering School, Jean-Marc Boutilly worked over 20 years ago as Maître d’Hôtel and later as F&B Manager at Le Mirador Kempinski. He held leading positions in exclusive establishments in Switzerland, such as the Lausanne Palace & Spa where he worked as the Assistant of Jean-Jacques Gauer, the General Manager. Then he joined the Hotel des Trois Couronnes in Vevey as General Manager from 2004 to 2010 followed by a position of General Manager of the Crans Ambassador in Crans-Montana until now.

Schweizerhof Bern GM Michael Thomann has been appointed as Hotelier of the Year at Swiss business magazine Bilanz

The general manager of Qatari-owned The Hotel Schweizerhof Bern, Michael Thomann, has been named Hotelier of the Year by Swiss business magazine Bilanz. The 150-year-old hotel, which is owned by Katara Hospitality Ltd., reopened in June 2011, following a two-year refurbishment. Katara Hospitality Switzerland AG managing director Bruno H. Schöpfer said: "It was not an easy task for general manager Michael Thomann, who together with his young team spared no effort during the last months to breathe new life into a legendary establishment that is rich in tradition.” The property has 99 rooms and suites, as well as an 800m² conference and business centre, ballroom and 500m² spa. In the past, the hotel has welcomed guests such as Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor.
