Niklaus J. Leuenberger has been named Managing Director at The Alpina Gstaad

Niklaus J. Leuenberger, a Swiss hotelier originally from the canton of Bern, has been appointed Managing Director of The Alpina Gstaad, the first five-star hotel to be built in the Alpine village in 100 years. He brings more than three decades of experience with luxury hotels in Asia, the United States and the Middle East. Prior to joining The Alpina Gstaad, Mr. Leuenberger was Chief Operating Officer for Resorts Development Company, a subsidiary of the Alfardam Group in Dubai, overseeing the development of the $800 million St. Regis Hotel and Residential complex in Doha. He spent 27 years in management roles with The Peninsula Hotels in China, Hong Kong and the Philippines, before transferring to the New York flagship in 1992. Under his leadership, the New York hotel completed a comprehensive renovation in just 10 months and was recognized as having the highest employee satisfaction among all Peninsula Hotels. With this success under his belt, he was promoted to Regional General Manager and charged with overseeing all aspects of the development and construction of The Peninsula Chicago.

Christian Dangel has been appointed as Manager at the Steigenberger Bellerive au Lac

Christian Dangel has been appointed the new Manager of the Steigenberger Bellerive au Lac in Zurich, where he will take up the reins from October 2011. Before relocating to the shores of Lake Zurich, Mr Dangel's most recent position was as Director of the Park Inn by Radisson in Sofia, Bulgaria. He succeeds Nathalie Grisoni, who is moving on to pastures new after 12 years in the role.

Markus Iseli has been appointed as General Manager at The Palace Luzern

Palace Luzern will welcome Swiss-born Markus Iseli as General Manager on June 1. Bringing with him over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Patrick will oversee all hotel operations for the century-old, Palace Luzern. Prior to joining the Victoria-Jungfrau Collection hotel in Luzern, Iseli held positions at several top luxury hotels around the world, including the InterContinental in Istanbul, the Four Seasons in the Seychelles and most recently at Shangri-La Hotel & Resort in Kuala Lumpur.

Kerstin Rischmeyer has been promoted to Chef de Cuisine at Restaurant Jasper at The Palace Luzern

The Palace Luzern promotes Kerstin Rischmeyer to the role of Chef de Cuisine at Palace Luzern’s classic yet contemporary restaurant, Jasper , where she has served as Sous Chef since 2009. At Jasper, which has a Gault-Millau rating of 16, Kerstin uses local ingredients to create dishes such as sautéed sea bass, spring chicken breast and roasted saddle of lamb. She established her career in 1989 and worked as Chef de Partie at multiple hotels in Switzerland and Germany, including Hotel Albana, located at the foot of the iconic Matterhorn mountain, Hotel Chesa in the village of Champfèr, and Hotel Giardino in the southern tip of Switzerland.

Patrick Walther has been promoted to Chef de Cuisine at the Jungfrau Brasserie at Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa

Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa in Interlaken, promotes Patrick Walther to Chef de Cuisine at the Jungfrau Brasserie. In this role Patrick will be responsible for the creation of the brasserie’s contemporary Swiss menu, currently featuring dishes such as Zurich-style veal with wild mushrooms, organic trout from Lake Blausee poached in lemon-thyme broth, and Lucerne cheese soup with fried ravioli. Patrick launched his cooking career during an apprenticeship at the Restaurant Gallerie in Bern and has risen through the ranks at multiple hotels in Zermatt, Switzerland. Prior to joining Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa, Patrick served as head chef aboard the luxury cruise ship, MS Deutschland.
