Locke Opens Its First Property In Switzerland

Lifestyle aparthotel brand Locke announces its expansion into Zurich, Switzerland with the opening of its fifteenth property, Locke am Platz. Located in Enge, the aparthotel is spread across six floors, comprising 80 units, ranging from rooms, studios and suites alongside social spaces including a restaurant and bar. Enge is known for its expansive green spaces with popular parks and botanical gardens located nearby, as well as Lake Zurich; a haven for swimmers.

For the two partners, this is already the seventh joint project, with two more in the planning stages. With the opening and takeover of operations of the Mercure Zurich City scheduled for November 1, 2023, The Chocolate on the Pillow Group is also expanding into Switzerland for the first time. Located centrally in the "Vulcano," built in 2018 and an architectural highlight and urban landmark in the emerging Altstetten district, the hotel will undergo extensive modernization measures as part of the rebranding.

The latest figures released by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) have put even more spring in Swiss tourism’s step. Night stays in Switzerland for the months of June and July 2023 were recently published. And the news is good! Night stays (or hotel stays) were 8.6% higher in June 2023 versus June 2023. This confirms an earlier report indicating that in the first half of 2023, night stays increased 13.8% year on year.

Jörg Arnold will take over management of The Chedi Andermatt as General Manager on October 1, 2023; at the same time he will become Cluster Director Hotels Andermatt of Orascom Hotels Management. In this function, he will continue to grow the hotels and develop them into a prime alpine destination. Jörg Arnold (born 1960) was most recently General Manager of the 5* hotels Storchen and Widder in Zurich and Alex in Thalwil.
