Lluís Serra has been named President at EUHOFA

The nomination of Lluís Serra, managing director of EUHT StPOL, as a President of EUHOFA International has taken place at the General Assembly, held in Kathmandu (Nepal). For the first time in over 60 years of this association's career, the presidency falls to the representative of a Hotel-School in the Spanish State.  Lluís Serra, managing director of the University College of Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts of Sant Pol de Mar (EUHT StPOL), affiliated to Universitat de Girona, has become the 8th president of EUHOFA International, being the first time that this position is held by a representative of the Spanish State. The position was approved at the recent General Assembly that was held in Kathmandu (Nepal) on November 29th, at which he was unanimously elected. Founded in 1955, EUHOFA INTERNATIONAL is the first international association of universities and schools of hospitality management and tourism. It was created by the Alpine hotel schools with the aim of assessing the latest trends and development of the hotel sector and its impact on hotel training. In 1974 it became an advisory member of the Council of Europe. Currently, EUHOFA International has more than 200 universities and schools of hospitality management, tourism and culinary arts on five continents. The members of the association are the directors and deans of these institutions, leaders in their territory. EUHT StPOL has been a member of EUHOFA International since 1990, thus becoming the first school in Spain to do so. Together with EUHT StPOL, are also members of EUHOFA some of the most prestigious hotel schools in the world such as l'École Hôtelière de Lausanne (Switzerland), Hotelschool The Hague (Netherlands), Johnson & Wales University (United States) or École from Savignac (France), among others. In Spain, Les Roches Marbella and the Centro Superior de Hostelería of Galicia are associates.

Largest easyHotel opens its doors at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

Yesterday easyHotel Benelux fully opened the doors of its newest location, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. With no fewer than 153 rooms, this ninth establishment of easyHotel Benelux is the largest hotel of this fast-growing label to date. Part of the rooms have been available to guests since last July, but the hotel has been fully open since yesterday. Tribute Portfolio, Marriott International's newest collection of independent, characterful hotels, today welcomed The Slaak Rotterdam, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel to its European roster following a captivating transformation of the iconic 'Het Slaakhuys' building which was originally designed by Dutch architect Jo Vegter in 1952. The architecturally significant landmark was home to the influential Dutch newspaper Het Vrije Volk (The Free People) until 1976. Opening of £9 million repositioned Park Plaza Vondelpark, Amsterdam

Remco Gerritsen has been appointed as General Manager at nhow Amsterdam RAI

NH Hotel Group has appointed Remco Gerritsen as General Manager of nhow Amsterdam RAI to set up the creative hotel brand in Amsterdam. nhow Amsterdam RAI is the second nhow hotel in the Netherlands and, with 650 rooms and 25 floors, the largest new-build hotel in the Benelux.Remco Gerritsen, born in the Netherlands, studied Hotel Management at Stenden University in Leeuwarden. After his studies he started at KLM as Party & Location Manager, where his career path quickly led to his first position in Operations in 1997. The hotel industry started to ogle and Gerritsen started working for Golden Tulip. Golden Tulip was acquired by NH Hotel Group in 2002, so Gerritsen is no stranger to the hotel chain. In 2007, Gerritsen left NH Hotel Group for an international career in Europe and Asia at PPHE Hotels, Azimut Hotels, IHG Hotels and Maritim Hotels. After his last position as Director of Operations at Maritim, he now starts as General Manager of nhow Amsterdam RAI at NH Hotel Group.The out-of-the-box work attitude and drive for innovation and continuous improvement have been key factors in the appointment of Remco Gerritsen. Gerritsen is looking forward to expanding the lifestyle hotel brand in the Netherlands. "Nobody can get around the building, thanks to the fantastic design by the architectural firm OMA. Eden Hotels' Savoy Hotel Rotterdam Re-opens After Extensive Renovation

The reopening of the Savoy Hotel Rotterdam was celebrated on Thursday 4 July. Since 1961, the Savoy Hotel Rotterdam has welcomed guests from home and abroad. The Savoy Hotel has undergone a major renovation in recent months and has since been reopened. During the festive reopening, Robèr Willemsen, chairman of the Royal Horeca Netherlands (KHN), took the floor. In addition to complimenting words to Eden Hotels, he also took this moment to argue for more respect for entrepreneurs in the hospitality industry and in the hotel industry in particular and to express his concerns about the Labor Market Balance Act (WAB) and the increase in the tourist tax.

Ramada Apollo Amsterdam rebrands to Leonardo Hotel Amsterdam Rembrandtpark

Three months after the opening of Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam, Fattal Hotel Group announces another important milestone. From August 1, Ramada Apollo Amsterdam will change its name to Leonardo Hotel Amsterdam Rembrandtpark and continue under the European brand of the Fattal Hotel Group.
