Hyatt Select Announced as Hyatt’s First Conversion-Friendly Transient Brand in the Upper-Midscale Segment in the Americas

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) today announced plans for Hyatt Select, a new upper-midscale transient brand designed to meet the needs of modern travelers while delivering an efficient, cost-effective model for owners. The Hyatt Select brand will strengthen Hyatt’s upper-midscale presence complementing Hyatt Studios, Hyatt’s extended-stay brand in the category, which marked the opening of its first property, Hyatt Studios Mobile / Tillmans Corner, on Feb. 18.

FIU Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management appoints new chair

Florida International University's Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management has welcomed three new members and named a new chair to the school's Executive Advisory Board, Richard Brilliant, who is also an FIU Hospitality alumnus. The new board members include two FIU alumni John Boettger '85, managing director of Westmont Hospitality Group and Jorge L. Rodriguez '91 president of Latin America and the Caribbean at SUBWAY®, in addition to Mutluhan Kucuk, complex managing director for Loews Miami Beach Hotel and Loews Coral Gables Hotel.

Schlegel joined the Millennium Minneapolis over a decade ago as a building engineer, before being promoted to his current role of director of engineering. In this position, he will develop and implement plans to keep the Sheraton Minneapolis Downtown property, equipment, and grounds in an utmost state of repair.

Natalie Barria has been appointed as Director of Human Resources at Sheraton Minneapolis Downtown Convention Center

Barria began her hospitality career at Renaissance Minneapolis Bloomington's Director of Human Resources. She joined Millennium Minneapolis in 2021, where she manages all aspects of employee relations, including onboarding, employee benefits, ensuring compliance with labor laws, fostering a positive culture—and now, most importantly, recruitment, in preparation for the Sheraton Minneapolis Downtown opening.

Chara Blanch has been appointed as Director of Operations at Sheraton Minneapolis Downtown Convention Center

Before joining Aimbridge Hospitality, Blanch spent 20 years working for the government, particularly specializing in unions for the last decade. She began her hotel hospitality career in 2021 when she was hired as the human resources director at a union hotel within the Aimbridge Hospitality portfolio. Blanch has been celebrated for her contributions to the company, receiving Aimbridge Setting the Stage award in recognition of her dedication and commitment to supporting property staff.

Katherine Gilbertson has been appointed as Director of Finance at Sheraton Minneapolis Downtown Convention Center

Gilberton has held many positions throughout her 15-year tenure in the hospitality industry. Beginning her career in food & beverage, she made the transition to finance after joining the Radisson Blu Minneapolis in 2016. Gilberton joined the team in her current role after spending the last four years in finance management at the corporate office for Choice Hotels International.

Prior to joining Millennium Minneapolis in 2022, Eng served as Director of Sales (DOS) for the Moxy Uptown Minneapolis and was tapped to be the DOS for Moxy Downtown during the opening. Other hotels Michelle has been involved with include two Hilton properties in Bloomington, as well being part of the sales team during Embassy Suites Bloomington's full-scale renovation.

Tyler-Thull boasts over a decade of experience in the hospitality industry, having worked with prestigious hotels and brands in Minnesota. He joined Aimbridge Hospitality in 2016 and has held various roles at TownePlace Suites, Spring Hill Suites, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Aimbridge Corporate. In 2023, he was promoted to general manager of Millennium Minneapolis. Currently, Tyler-Thull is leveraging his robust business acumen and passion for hospitality to oversee the multi-million-dollar transformation of the Millennium property into the Sheraton Minneapolis Downtown. Tyler-Thull is a Board Member of Hospitality Minnesota Education Foundation and is actively involved in multiple community associations.
