Brian Dandro has been promoted to Director of Food & Beverage at Royal Sonesta Hotel Boston

The Royal Sonesta Hotel Boston has announced the promotion of Executive Chef Brian Dandro to the position Director of Food & Beverage/Executive Chef. In this role, Chef Dandro will oversee banquets, the culinary team, the pastry shop, ArtBar restaurant and patio, and in-room dining for the property, along with the opening of two new outlets; a lobby lounge and coffee shop. Chef Dandro has been Executive Chef at the Hotel since 2011. Prior to joining Sonesta, Chef Dandro spent three years with the Hilton Corporation as the Executive Sous Chef in Hilton Cambridge and the Resort Chef at Hilton Fort Lauderdale. Chef Dandro also worked at the Seaport Hotel as the Culinary Supervisor.

Jesse D. Souza has been appointed as Executive Chef at Taj Boston

A passion for regional American cooking informs Chef Souza's guidance of all culinary operations at Taj Boston. Among his many responsibilities, he oversees The Café, with its popular daily breakfast, lunch and dinner options, including New England favorites and authentic Indian specialty dishes; The Bar, that offers small plates nightly to accompany its extensive list of cocktails and wines and Champagnes by the glass; The Lounge, which features traditional afternoon tea on weekends and holiday teas from Thanksgiving weekend through December 31; seasonal Sunday Champagne Brunch on The Roof; 24-hour in-room dining, and all banquet and catering for the hotel's many corporate meetings and social gatherings. Previously Chef Souza spent seven years as Executive Chef with Noble House Hotels & Resorts, including Riviera Resort & Spa, Palm Springs, Calif.; Portofino Hotel & Yacht Club, Redondo Beach, Calif; La Playa Beach & Golf Resort, Naples, FL, and Grove Isle Hotel & Spa, Coconut Grove, FL. He also served as Executive Chef for Natasha's in Portland, Maine, and with Havana in Bar Harbor, Maine; as Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine for two Chispa restaurants in Florida, and as Executive Sous Chef for Little Palm Island Resort & Spa, Florida Keys, and The Claremont Resort & Spa, Berkeley, Calif.

Brian D. Macaluso has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at Taj Boston

Brian brings more than 20 years of hospitality industry sales and marketing expertise to his role overseeing all sales and marketing initiatives for the 273-room landmark hotel. Previously he was Task Force Director, Sales & Marketing, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, where he led sales efforts for a variety of Starwood hotels in Chicago, Atlanta, Texas, Colorado and Birmingham. His prior experience includes various sales leadership roles for Starwood at The Boston Park Plaza Hotel and Towers, The Sheraton Stamford and The Westin Stamford. Brian began his career in hotel sales with Hyatt and Wyndham hotels, after graduating from University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration.

Michael Mathis has been named President & Chief Operating Officer (COO) at MGM Springfield Development

MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) today announced that Michael Mathis will replace Bill Hornbuckle as President & Chief Operating Officer of the MGM Springfield Development effective upon approval of Mathis' individual licensing application, which is pending with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. Should the Company receive the sole Western Massachusetts license award from the Commission, Mathis will transition into leading the pre-opening effort and eventual operation of the facility.

Craig Reaume has been appointed as General Manager at Fairmont Battery Wharf Boston

Paul S. Tormey, regional vice president, North East United States and Bermuda and general manager of The Fairmont Copley Plaza, is pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Reaume to general manager of Fairmont Battery Wharf, Boston's premier waterfront retreat located along the Boston Harbor Walk. As general manager, Mr. Reaume will manage the operation of this 150-room hotel, which features Aragosta Bar & Bistro, Battery Lounge, Fairmont Gold and 6,000 square feet of meeting space. Mr. Reaume brings more 19 years of hospitality experience to Fairmont Battery Wharf. He began his career at the 1,600 room Delta Chelsea Hotel in Toronto in 1992 where he held several progressive positions, including Reservations Manager and Front Desk Manager. In 1997, Mr. Reaume was promoted to Director of Rooms/Operations at the Sandman Hotel Vancouver Airport. Within the same year Mr. Reaume was appointed to Rooms Division Manager, Delta Vancouver Airport. Mr. Reaume opened the Marriott Pinnacle Hotel as Hotel Manager in 1999 where he stayed for two years until he returned to The Delta Chelsea as Director of Operations. In 2004, Mr. Reaume was promoted to General Manager, Delta Toronto Airport West and in 2008 he joined Fairmont as Hotel Manager at The Fairmont Royal York. In 2011 Mr. Reaume was promoted to his most recent position as General Manager of The Fairmont Vancouver Airport, voted the best Airport Hotel in North America in 2011 and 2012 by Skytrax.

Awet Sium has been appointed as Hotel Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Boston

From day one, Sium dreamed of holding a leadership position with Four Seasons. While confidently ascending the management ladder, never lost sight of this dream. Sium began his career as a front office manager in Washington, DC, then moved on to become director of guest services at a property in Alexandria, Virginia. From there, Sium held management positions for two luxury resorts in Turks and Caicos and, following his time on the islands, returned to the hustle and bustle of city life, assuming the position of assistant general manager for Hotel Monaco, a luxury hotel in Washington, DC. Sium held the same position with the Hotel Monaco in Baltimore as part of the opening team and, following a successful opening, was promoted to the position of general manager for Vero Beach Hotel and Spa in Florida. Never losing sight of his Four Seasons dream, however, Sium joined the company in 2012 as Hotel Manager, Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis. Sium's ability to speak several languages including Tigrinya and Italian, paired with his love for travel and adventure, make him the consummate hotelier – and leader. The John Quincy Adams quote that sits front and centre in his office speaks volumes: "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." Sium states: "I've always subscribed to this philosophy. It reminds me to constantly push the envelope – and to dream big." When not at work, Sium enjoys spending time with his wife and young son and cooking homemade Italian cuisine. Richard Bussiere has been appointed as General Manager at The Langham, Boston

Jennifer Kemble has been named Director of Business Travel at Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center

Prior to teaming up with Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center, Kemble served as area director of business transient at The Westin Waltham Boston in Waltham, Mass. There she consistently achieved sales goals and developed action plans for transient markets while building new relationships and negotiating with all corporate groups. Before her work with The Westin Waltham Boston, she held several positions with Sheraton Boston Hotel including, assistant director of conventions and catering, sales coordinator, catering manager and sales manager. Her work with Sheraton Boston Hotel allowed her to grow customer retention and coordinate targeted marketing strategies. Kemble holds an associate degree in applied science from Newbury College in Brookline, Mass.

Alan L. Smith has been named General Manager at Boston Marriott Cambridge

Smith brings a wealth of executive level experience to his new post at the Cambridge hotel. Most recently, he served as general manager of the historic 315-room Courtyard Boston Downtown. Prior leadership roles have included resident manager at Boston Marriott Cambridge; director of finance and accounting at Boston Marriott Copley Place; controller at Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington, VA; and controller at Greenbelt Marriott in Greenbelt, MD.

Ricardo Verdan has been appointed as Director of Food & Beverage at Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center

Before joining Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center team, Verdan worked at various hotels under Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide including the four-diamond awarded Sheraton Boston Hotel and The Westin Waltham Boston. While overseeing The Westin Waltham Boston Food and Beverage Department, Verdan implemented a new marketing strategy that yielded more than $50,000 in additional revenue. Verdan’s experience also includes multiple hospitality positions in Mass. including Director of Food and Beverage at the former Sheraton Braintree Hotel, Sterling National Country Club and Sheraton Needham.

Stephan Amesoeder has been appointed as General Manager at Andover Inn

Waterford Hotel Group has named Stephan Amesoeder as General Manager for the historic Andover Inn. The recently renovated 30-room Andover Inn is located in Andover, Massachusetts, about 25 miles north of Boston on the 500-acre campus of Phillips Academy, one of the oldest private secondary schools in the United States. The Inn is professionally managed by Waterford Hotel Group, a national hotel and convention center management firm with offices in Waterford, CT. Amesoeder joins the Andover team with nearly 25 years of hospitality management experience, and as General Manager of the Inn will oversee all operational, sales and administrative aspects of the property. Most recently, Amesoeder had served as Director of Food and Beverage for Wyndham Hotel in Andover. His previous experience also includes general manager positions at Omni Hotels in New Orleans, LA, Sonesta International, Bermuda, and Emerson Inn by the Sea in Rockport, MA.

Wayne Murphy has been appointed as Director of Food & Beverage at Taj Boston

Murphy brings extensive hospitality leadership to the position, with more than 21 years of experience in all facets of hotel management and food and beverage gained in New England, the UK and his native Ireland. His list of accomplishments includes orchestrating a successful $19 million brand re-invention of seven dining outlets and in-room dining concepts for The Boston Copley Marriott; increasing revenue for all restaurants and earning #1 company ratings from meeting planners at The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common; and driving pre- and post-opening sales for four outlets at Boston Marriott Copley. Most recently, during two years as Executive Director of Rooms at Providence Marriott Downtown, Murphy inspired significant gains in guest and associate satisfaction across six front and back of the house departments while also assisting with food and beverage operations.

Jag Garces has been appointed as General Manager at Homewood Suites by Hilton Canton

Mr. Garces has been with Buffalo Lodging for over four years. Jag came to Canton from Buffalo Lodging's Hampton Inn & Suites Farmington Connecticut, where he was the General Manager for the past two years. In 2008, Jag became the Assistant General Manager of Homewood Suites University of Central Florida Area-Orlando. Jag has more than 10 years of combined experience in hospitality operations and sales and marketing.

Rachel Klein has been appointed as Executive Chef at Mandarin Oriental, Boston

Chef Klein arrives at the hotel with 18 years of culinary experience, most recently as Executive Chef of Aura and Tamo Bar at the Seaport Hotel. After garnering much praise in her previous positions in New York at Savoy, The Screening Room and Anissa, Chef Klein received critical acclaim for the opening of X.O. Café and Lot 401 in Providence, Rhode Island. Locally, Chef Klein’s accomplishments include opening Om Restaurant and Lounge in Harvard Square.

Alain Negueloua has been appointed as General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Boston

Mr Negueloua is a veteran hotelier with over 25 years of luxury hospitality experience. He rejoins Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group after six years as General Manager at Meadowood Resort in Napa Valley, California. Prior to this, during his nine year career with Mandarin Oriental, Mr. Negueloua held a variety of senior management positions, including Resident Manager and General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco, and General Manager of The Mark, New York. Before joining Mandarin Oriental, Alain gained over 13 years of managerial experience with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts. Macaire Matchett has been appointed as Director of Sales at Hyatt Place Braintree

The 204-room Hyatt Place Boston/Braintree hotel, anticipated to open in May of 2012, today announced that Steve Buckler has joined as general manager and Macaire Matchett as director of sales. Macaire Matchett joins the Hyatt Place Braintree as pre-opening director of sales, bringing extensive sales experience and knowledge of the Boston-area market to her new position. Most recently she was director of sales at the Homewood Suites by Hilton, Canton, Mass., responsible for leading sales and marketing for a new build hotel. Prior to that Matchett was a sales manager at the 157-room Hyatt Place Boston/Medford hotel for four years, responsible for group and corporate sales.
