Bob Ducy has been appointed as Director of Engineering at The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa

The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa is proud to announce the appointment of industry veterans Toby Scott-Long as director of operations, Bob Ducy as director of engineering and Tim Wright as director of security. With more than half a century of combined experience, Scott-Long, Ducy and Wright will continue to elevate the iconic resort’s legacy in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains. Joining the team with more than 35 years of experience under his belt, Bob Ducy will manage daily engineering and landscaping department operations. Ducy previously served as the director of engineering at The Fairmont Orchid Hawaii, The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, Pointe Hilton Hotels & Resorts, and various Marriott Hotels & Resorts. Ducy is credited with managing more than $40 million in property capital investment projects while increasing J.D. Power guest ratings through innovative new maintenance practices.

Toby Scott-Long will be responsible for managing the resort’s daily operations while overseeing food and beverage, housekeeping, rooms, security and engineering departments. Prior to joining The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa, Scott-Long served as the director of rooms at The Westin Calgary in Canada where he oversaw housekeeping, front desk, engineering, and security teams. Throughout his professional experiences, Scott-Long has been recognized for balancing financial budgets, guest experience and associate satisfaction. He was the recipient of The Westin Harbour Castle Toronto’s Leader of the Year award as well as Leader of the Quarter at Le Royal Meridien King Edward Hotel Toronto.

Julie Tainter has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa

AAA Four Diamond Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa is proud to announce the appointment of Julie Tainter as director of sales and marketing. With more than 30 years of experience, Tainter will collaborate with the resort’s sales, marketing, and public relations teams to drive sales and exceed revenue goals for the iconic 487 room desert property. Spearheading The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa’s sales and marketing efforts, Tainter will work with the Starwood field marketing team alongside a national and local public relations firm to oversee creative design, marketing, social media, and PR efforts. Additionally, Tainter will direct and supervise day-to-day sales operations encompassing groups, leisure, catering, convention services, and business development. Most recently, Tainter served as director of sales and marketing for Tucson-based Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa where she was recognized as the 2014 Woman of Influence – Hotel Champion by Inside Tucson Business. During her time at the resort, Tainter’s responsibilities included overseeing sales, marketing, convention services, and media while directing the creative design process and marketing efforts. Prior to that role, Tainter oversaw a portfolio of hotels and resorts as corporate director of sales and marketing for River Hospitality Management LLC and American Property Management Corporation, in addition to her own hospitality consulting firm - J. Tainter & Company.

Justin Macy has been appointed as Executive Chef at Tanque Verde Ranch

Tanque Verde Ranch, a historic guest ranch located on 60,000 scenic desert acres alongside Tucson’s Saguaro National Park, announced today that Justin Macy has joined the resort’s culinary team as executive chef. In his new role, Chef Macy will use his expertise in spa cuisine to put healthier spins on the classic comfort food that completes the dude ranch experience, while also overseeing the three daily meals guests enjoy as part of all-inclusive rates, and the resort’s active group and banquet catering services.

Todd Muilenburg has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at Embassy Suites by Hilton Resort Scottsdale

Todd Muilenberg has an exceptional history working with three-, four-, and five-diamond hotels and resorts. His decade of experience includes working in sales and marketing for locations such as the Renaissance Glendale Hotel and Spa, Resort Suites, and Fairmont Scottsdale. His career also includes leading the sales and marketing for hotels within both the Marriott and Embassy Suites brands. Currently, with Embassy Suites by Hilton Resort Scottsdale, Muilenburg is responsible for maintaining and building the hotel’s clientele and brand image.

Alan Klein, nearly a Scottsdale native and upstanding member of the Scottsdale community, has successfully led multiple hotels and major hotel transformations. With more than 24 years of hospitality experience in all phases of operations and all levels of management, Klein has proven results such as increased profitability, improved employee and guest satisfaction, and creating new revenue streams. Past turnarounds include the Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa in Tucson, the Saguaro in Old Town Scottsdale, and Monterey Beach Resort in California. Klein is active in his community and has served as the former Chair of the Southern Arizona Lodging and Resort Association, Board Director of Visit Tucson, Board Director on the Arizona Lodging and Tourism Association, Board Director of the Valley Hotel and Resort Association and is currently a Board Director of the Scottsdale Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Terry Porter has been named 2016 Chairman at Best Western® Hotels and Resorts Board of Directors

Terry Porter, CHA, serves as the 2016 chairman of the Best Western® Hotels and Resorts Board of Directors. He was elected to the Board in November 2013 to represent the interests of Best Western hoteliers in the brand's District I, which includes Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. She most recently served as the director and top producer for the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers along with The Westin Chicago River North. Additionally, Nancy served as account director for the St. Regis and Luxury Collection Midwest sales office, ITT Sheraton Midwest national sales office, as well as ITT Sheraton global sales office in Chicago.
