Today, Hotel Equities (HE) announced they have been selected to operate The Island Beachside Resort by Hotel RL in Fort Walton Beach. The Gulf-front resort boasts 331 guest rooms and 14,000 square feet of unique meeting and event space, including Gulf-front green space for weddings and special occasions. Built by Fred and Patricia Tolbert in the '60s, The Island is now owned by Tripp Tolbert, CEO of the Tolbert Group and developer, Jay Odom, CEO of The Jay Odom Group.

Hospitality veteran Macarena Sepulveda has been appointed Director of Event Planning and Meeting Experience at The Confidante Miami Beach, a playful oceanfront oasis located in Miami Beach's mid-beach neighborhood, effective immediately. In her new role, Sepulveda is responsible for managing the planning and execution of banquet events at The Confidante, leveraging the property's vibrant one-of-a-kind spaces to offer the perfect backdrop for meetings, weddings and special occasions. Sepulveda also oversees event services, including food and beverage, stewarding and operations to ensure a seamless and memorable occasion every time. The following year, in 2014, Sepulveda was awarded by the Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association as the "Catering Manager of the Year" while also being named "Event Management Rising Star" by the Marriott South Florida Business Council. Additionally, in 2014, Sepulveda was the recipient of the Marriott's Global Discipline Event Leadership GEM award for the Americas. With her extensive experience in a leadership role, Sepulveda is poised to proactively drive hotel growth within the Hyatt brand. Having earned a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management from Instituto Nacional de Capacitacion Profesional, a member of The Leading Hotel Schools of the World, she brings a detail-oriented and cutting-edge approach to the team.
Comfort hotels, franchised by Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE: CHH), welcomed a newly constructed Comfort Inn & Suites in Sarasota, Florida, as the brand continues to execute its strategy of opening more than one hotel per week this year. Bill Lee was previously Benchmark's general manager at The Grove Resort Orlando, where he successfully led the property from its pre-opening phase on forward. Mr. Lee has extensive senior leadership experience gained at multiple start-up and transitional projects in locations throughout the Caribbean, and for major brands including Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Rock Resorts International. In addition to The Grove Resort Orlando, Mr. Lee has worked for Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, also in Orlando, and the Sheraton Tampa. He resides in Gainesville.

Most recently, he held the position of director of finance at Westshore Grand, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel.
As Director of Sales and Marketing for Westin Tampa Bay, Beck brings more than 25 years of hospitality experience to the team, most of which were spent working locally in Florida. She will be responsible for driving the sales and marketing strategies for the 244-room hotel. Creative and results-oriented, Beck's skills in forecasting, budgeting, revenue control, P&L management and performance measurement stem from her previous years in leadership and director roles at various hotels including The Westshore Grand Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Hilton Tampa Bay Airport Westshore, Sheraton Suites Westshore and more.
The Sarasota Modern, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel, part of Marriott International, Inc., is pleased to announce the appointment of J. Christopher Ayala as its new director of culinary program. In this role, Ayala will be responsible for overseeing the hotel's entire culinary operation, including Rudolph's, in-room dining, and the catering and banquet offerings.

Goldberger was instrumental in the hotel's success, increasing the property's average occupancy each year.
