Regent signs agreement to Develop and Manage Regent Phu Quoc, Vietnam

Regent Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with prominent Vietnamese property developer BIM Group today in Hanoi, to manage Regent Phu Quoc, a luxury hotel and residential development in the heart of Phu Quoc, Vietnam"s largest island. The signing ceremony was attended by the Chairman of Regent Hotels Group, Steven Pan, and Doan Quoc Viet, Chairman of BIM Group. With the launch of Regent Phu Quoc in 2019, Regent Hotels & Resorts" global property portfolio will increase to nine and Regent Phu Quoc will be the company"s third mixed-use development comprising luxury residences and a hotel. Even in its early stages of development, the property has already scooped an award as Winner in the New Hotel Construction & Design Vietnam category at the 2017 Asia Pacific Property Awards. Regent Phu Quoc will be in the heart of Phu Quoc Marina, set to be the hottest new destination in Vietnam. The spectacular 400-room waterfront property will bring true luxury to this new lifestyle destination. It will offer both spacious hotel rooms and private residences; each unit will be equipped with a Lake Villa, Beach or Sky Villa that will include a private swimming pool and magnificent sea views. Regent Phu Quoc will also offer world-class dining and Michelin-starred dining options, spectacular private beaches, a luxury spa, pool and gym facilities. As with all Regent Hotels & Resorts, the property will combine indigenous design that encapsulates the essence of the locale, with understated luxury, providing guests with extraordinary world-class accommodation experiences and living spaces.Vietnam's Phu Quoc is set in the Gulf of Thailand, off the coast of Cambodia. More than 70% of the island is classified as a National Park and a protected area thus providing visitors with abundant natural landscapes, pristine beaches and tropical jungle to explore, as well as a traditional fishing village that displays strong French influences till this day. Regent Phu Quoc is located at Bai Truong, on the west coast of the island which is known for its sunsets. It is just 10 minutes" drive from the airport.

Joseph Colina has been appointed as executive assistant manager at Sofitel Legend Metropole

Joseph Colina has been appointed as Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi's new executive assistant manager. Colina recently moved to Hanoi from Washington DC, where he was previously the director of operations at Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square. The American began his career as director of guest services at Sofitel Minneapolis in 2005, before becoming the director of guest services at Sofitel Chicago Water Tower and the director of rooms at Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square.

Pieter Van Der Hoeven has been appointed as area general manager for Vietnam at Minor Hotels International

Minor Hotels has appointed Pieter van der Hoeven as area general manager for Vietnam. Based out of Anantara Hoi An Resort & Spa, van der Hoeven will oversee operational and sales functions across all Minor Hotels brands in Vietnam. He will report to Thomas Meier, senior vice president, hotel operations, Asia. Prior to joining Minor Hotels, the seasoned Australian hotelier has been with Outrigger since 2008 in various leadership positions across Asia-Pacific, except for between July 2013 and December 2014 when he was general manager with Raffles Hotels in Cambodia. His other previous experience includes senior roles with Anantara Hua Hin Resort and Evason Hua Hin Resort, Evason Ana Mandara in Vietnam as well as The Peninsula Bangkok.

Vietnam’s first dine-‘n’-slide hotel begins construction

Vietnam"s first hotel to use tubular slides to carry guests between floors, Fusion Suite Vung Tau, has started construction on June 1, 2017. Designed for the modern traveller, Fusion Suites Vung Tau will provide a range of 171 unique and well-appointed suites and apartments, perfect for young families, couples, or groups of friends.
