Stephan Chaline has been appointed as General Manager at U Sapa

Absolute Hotel Services Indochina/Indonesia Regional Director Mark Heather is pleased to announce the appointments of Stephan Chaline as General Manager for U Sapa, effective December 15, 2014. Stephan has more than 12 years of experience in the hotel industry with a proven track record in 4 and 5 star hotels during 10 years in Europe and 2 years in Thailand, namely Phoenix Hotels Group in Asia and Europe, Stein Hotels & Resorts as well as time at a two Michelin Star restaurant in Europe. He has a very strong background in particular F&B operations. U Sapa is a 4 star deluxe boutique hotel located in the heart of the city close to City Center Park. The hotel opened with 57 rooms and suites, with 18 more rooms being available from mid 2015. U Sapa features include Bellevue, an all-day dining restaurant, Dejavu bar, a gym, a business center and a library.

Anthony Peter Slewka has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi

Anthony Slewka-Armfelt has directed commercial activity for all Sofitels across Southeast Asia and India since 2008. In 2009, Sofitel regional positions were moved on property where Anthony was positioned in two Sofitel opening projects, first in Phnom Penh and then in Bangkok. In Hanoi, his focus will be trained on a single hotel while he maintains regional sales responsibilities for Sofitel. Slewka-Armfelt’s journey to his current role as a director of sales and marketing proceeded outside the usual channels. While his peers marched from hotel school into sales offices of various brands, Slewka-Armfelt was deployed in many parts of the world as a NATO commander.

Iain McCormack has been appointed as General Manager at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort

No stranger to the world of luxury hotels, McCormack joins the resort from the multi-award winning Gili Lankanfushi in the Maldives where he was general manager for four years. Previous positions include Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort & Private Island in Jamaica, Cap Juluca in Anguilla and Cotton House in Mustique to name but a few. McCormack’s international leadership experience in leading resorts worldwide coupled with his vision and know-how will take InterContinental Danang to the next level of luxury. Opened in 2012, this iconic 197-room beach resort has already been named one of the best new hotels in the world by Conde Nast Traveller USA; included in the Luxury 50 List by World Spa and Travel; awarded Best New Luxury Hotel by the World Luxury Hotel Awards; and voted Asia’s Leading New Resort and Vietnam’s Leading Resort at the World Travel Awards 2013.

John Allanson has been appointed as General Manager at Six Senses Con Dao

Six Senses Con Dao John Allanson joins the team as general manager, following a successful two-year role as resident manager at Six Senses Laamu, Maldives. He succeeds Edouard Grosmangin, who moves to the Seychelles as general manager for the 2015 opening of Six Senses Zil Pasyon. John’s 20 plus years of all-around experience and executive management are no less than exemplary, including a history with Rocco Forte hotels at the Lowry Hotel, Manchester. He has worked in several luxury hotels throughout the United Kingdom as a general manager since 2007, including Hoole Hall Hotel and Spa, Old Course St Andrews, Macdonald Hotels and the privately-owned Taplow House Hotel. In October, 2012, John moved abroad to join Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas. While based in the Maldives, he worked with the resort’s innovative sustainability team on policies and procedures in addition to overseeing the daily operation of the 97-villa resort. President Bernhard Bohnenberger of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas says of John’s promotion, “John infuses the kind of charismatic leadership that fosters development among our hosts and stakeholders while reinforcing the vision for an environment that helps people reconnect with themselves, others and the world around them. Anthony Quin has been named General Manager at Mövenpick Hotel Hanoi

Quin, an Australian national, has spent the last two years at the Hilton Seychelles Resort & Spa. Previously Anthony worked in Vietnam’s Quy Nhon and Mui Ne, Vanuatu, Fiji, Canada, Dubai, Doha, New Zealand and in his home town of Melbourne, Australia. Starting his hotel career with SPHC group in the Whitsundays Australia, he then moved within the Bass Hotels & Resorts/IHG. Having worked Corporate, Resorts and Airport properties, he then took a challenging role and joined the Rydges group in Doha, Qatar for the opening of the Hotel in 2000. His first general manager’s role was with the Warwick Group in Vanuatu. He then joined the Hilton Group and finally settling with the Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts family.

Andrew Donadel has been appointed as General Manager at PARKROYAL Saigon

An Australian, Andrew started his hospitality career with The Westin Sydney and Montreal Marriott Chateau Champlain before moving on to Ascott International where he spent six years managing Somerset, Citadines and Ascott serviced residences in Singapore and Australia. Prior to his appointment, Andrew was General Manager of the 180-unit Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Beach Road, Singapore, where he guided the property from its pre- opening stages to a successful launch last May. At the same time, he also oversaw the management of the adjacent 90-unit PARKROYAL Serviced Suites, Singapore. Both properties are owned and managed by Pan Pacific Hotels Group.
