Pacifica Hotels and New Ownership Group Begin Rebrand for Hotel Indigo Santa Barbara

Pacifica Hotels, the largest owner and operator of independent, design-inspired hotels on the Pacific Coast, is refreshing the Hotel Indigo Santa Barbara property in collaboration with new ownership starting with a name change. The hotel was recently purchased by the same hotelier family who owns the historic Culver Hotel in Los Angeles and will be rebranded as an independent lifestyle hotel under the new name "The Riviera Beach House".

Sheila Buciuman has been appointed as Hotel Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay

Buciuman began her career as a diamond receptionist at the world-renowned Waldorf Astoria, acting as a front office associate, as well as managing the day-to-day experiences of Hilton Honors Diamond members. In 2015, she joined The Ritz-Carlton brand at its Palm Beach location and progressed her career primarily in leadership roles for hotel operations, from Front Office Manager to earning a promotion to Assistant Director of Housekeeping and Laundry. Following a move to Georgia, Buciuman received a number of awards and accolades at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead including The Ritz-Carlton Cobalt Award in 2014 for successful implementation of a Marriott and Ritz-Carlton Rewards memberships and revenues program. During her tenure at the resort, she was promoted to Executive Assistant Manager where, under her leadership, the Rooms division and Spa achieved their all-time highest profitability since the opening of the hotel in 1984. Prior to joining The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay, Buciuman served as Director of Operations at the St. Regis Atlanta where she spearheaded the successful completion of the hotel's $20-million renovation. Additionally, Buciuman lead her team to achieve the #1 ranking in customer engagement metrics within the St. Regis portfolio in North America for an impressive four years in a row from 2018-2021.

Collin Smelser has been appointed as Executive Chef at The Wayfarer Downtown LA

Collin Smelser brings more than a decade of culinary expertise to the trendy downtown Los Angeles hotel. Smelser will be responsible for overseeing all food and beverage initiatives at the property's four dining outlets including the The Rooftop, Lilly Rose, The Gaslighter, and The Kitchen. Additionally, Smelser will oversee the menus for in-room dining, catering, and private events. Smelser most recently worked as Executive Chef at Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles where he was responsible for all menu development and the daily operation of the Food & Beverage Department. Prior to that, he was Executive Chef at The Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis, Missouri. Smelser's earlier years of his career were spent in Colorado, serving as the Executive Chef at The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera in Edwards, Sous Chef at Sonterra Grill in Colorado Springs, Restaurant Chef at Antlers Hilton in Colorado Springs, and Executive Chef at Plate World Cuisine in Colorado Springs. Smelser received an AOS in Culinary Arts from New England Culinary Institute in Vermont.
