The 200-room Holiday Inn Resort Kuakata is due to open in early 2026 and the 150-rooms Crowne Plaza Kuakata will open its doors to guests in Q1 2028. Located on the second largest beach in Bangladesh, both hotels will be best in class products in the country.

The HMAs cover management of three hotels developed by SL International Construction Co., Ltd., including Centra by Centara Hotel Thiri Hpa-An, Hpa-An Hilltop Resort & Spa, and Centara Hotel Mandalay. In the last 12 months, Centara has inked management deals for a total of nine Myanmar properties, including the latest signings with SL International Construction. MUMBAI, Ginger Hotels announces the signing of three new hotels -two in Chennai and one in Patna -designed around the brand's lean luxe philosophy of offering a vibrant, contemporary and seamless hospitality experience to its guests. The two Chennai properties will take the total number of Ginger hotels in the city to five, while the Patna property will be the brand's second hotel in the city.

According to the latest China Construction Pipeline Trend Report, analysts at Lodging Econometrics (LE) report that, China's total hotel construction pipeline continues to trend upward to an all-time high of 3,574 projects/647,704 rooms. Up 19% by projects and 9% by rooms year-over-year (YOY), this is the 12th consecutive quarter China's pipeline hasincreased.China has 2,282 projects/408,403 rooms presently under construction. Projects scheduled to start construction in the next 12 months experienced a massive increase of 105% by projects and 57% by rooms YOY, to stand at a record-high 842 projects/132,469 rooms.

Analysts at Lodging Econometrics (LE) report that despite the COVID-19 outbreak, China's total construction pipeline continues to expand to an all-time high of 3,533 projects/645,764 rooms, up 24% by projects and 9% by rooms year-over-year (YOY). China has 2,330 projects/412,142 rooms presently under construction. Projects under construction remain near record-highs at the end of the first quarter even though many projects are delayed two to four months. Projects scheduled to start construction in the next 12 months experienced an enormous increase of 92% by projects and 45% by rooms YOY, to stand at a record-high 744 projects/120,458 rooms.
Vietnam's tourism industry is set to lead Asia's return to business as social distancing restrictions are lifted and domestic travel is set to return. The Vietnamese government announced the lifting of social distancing restrictions on April 24 setting the stage for the return of a domestic market of up to 70 million travellers per year that has been growing at a rate of 20% for the past five years. Speaking on The Future of Travel podcast by Bangkok-based branding agency QUO, Wink Hotels CEO Michael Piro said that the speed at which Vietnam reacted to Covid-19 revealed an underlying strength and resilience that is now setting the country on the road to recovery. "Vietnam is no stranger to crisis and the government was very quick to respond," said Piro. "You can feel the authority, leadership and control. They were very thorough using every channel possible to get the Covid message out and this inspired a sense of social responsibility and togetherness across the country." Now with social distancing measures lifted, restaurants filling up again and airlines such as Vietjet running six daily return flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City as of April 23, the demand for domestic travel particularly by a young, entrepreneurial population, with two-thirds 70 aged below 35 years old, is apparent.
Centara Hotels & Resorts, Thailand's leading hotel operator, is further expanding its presence in Vietnam, following the signing of Hotel Management Agreements (HMAs) for two large-scale resorts being developed by Novaland Group, a leading Vietnamese property and real estate developer. The coronavirus outbreak in 2020 has been a severe challenge for the hotel industry in China, putting the risk management capability of each operating hotel to the test. While from the perspective of hotel investment and asset management, which are more strategic and forward-thinking than day-to-day operation, the industry will recover from the downturn eventually, the impact of this outbreak will force investors to reconsider their strategic planning in hotel investment and in asset management.
Analysts at Lodging Econometrics (LE) report that China's total construction pipeline boomed in the fourth quarter of 2019 and closed the quarter at 3,526 projects/643,435 rooms, up 28% by projects and 11% by rooms year-over-year (YOY). At the end of 2019, both projects and rooms in the construction pipeline are at new all-time highs. China has the second largest pipeline in the world.
Radisson Hotel Group has celebrated the start of the new decade by announcing the signing of 17 new hotels in India.
