Sameh Sobhy has been promoted to General Manager at Semiramis InterContinental

Ignace Bauwens, Vice President of Operations UAE, Near East and Africa, InterContinental Hotels Group, announced the promotion of Sameh Sobhy to General Manager of the Semiramis InterContinental Cairo.Sobhy joined the Semiramis InterContinental in 1987 as a member of the Sales and Marketing team and throughout 26 years he assumed different roles within the InterContinental Hotels both in Egypt and the UK.

Yasmine El Gawhary has been appointed as Director of Rooms at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza

El Gawhary has served at the Cairo property for close to eight years and was also a part of the task force involved in training the Front Office staff at the much anticipated Four Seasons property in Beirut, in addition to assisting across several departments at Four Seasons Hotel London at Canary Wharf. Commenting on El Gawhary’s appointment, Olivier Masson, regional vice president, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts said: “Yasmine started her career with Nile Plaza during its opening in 2004 as Administrative Assistant, and her great passion and endless dedication to her job and the Hotel earned her many promotions in the Rooms Division – from Assistant Front Desk Manager, Front Desk Manager, Housekeeping Manager, Front Office Manager to Assistant Director of Rooms. Her eagerness to handle more responsibility and roles led her to participate in many task force assignments in London and Beirut, where she did a fantastic job and made us all proud. Yasmine has always been a great example of booming energy, professionalism and enthusiasm, indeed a true Four Seasons person."

Andreas Haugg has been appointed as Executive Chef at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza

Having spent years travelling around Europe, perfecting his skills and learning from master craftsmen such as Johann Lafer (Germany) and Anton Mosimann (UK), Haugg took his first position as executive chef at a hotel in New England, USA, in 1998. It was while there, in Boston, that he first encountered Four Seasons. He started his with the former Four Seasons Hotel Berlin, then he moved to Four Seasons Hotel London. Andreas crossed continents to Four Seasons Resorts Maldives at both Kuda Huraa and Landaa Giravaru, and then took a position at Four Seasons Resort Mauritius before coming to Cairo.

Simon W. Stamper has been appointed as Area General Manager at InterContinental Hotels Group Citystars

Stamper will be responsible for the overall commercial operations and management of all three of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) hotels that reside within the Citystars commercial and residential complex, which includes Holiday Inn Cairo-Citystars and Staybridge Suites Cairo-Citystars. Stamper brings with him over 25 years experience in the hospitality industry and will play a vital role in maintaining IHG Citystars position as an iconic symbol of Cairean heritage, and its reputation for personalised service and practical luxury tailored for today's affluent travellers.

Roy Buitenkemp has been appointed as Director of Food and Beverage at the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza

Buitenkemp is an equal asset to Four Seasons. He has more than 11 years experience in the hospitality field and has worked in a number of prestigious hotels and restaurants throughout the world, including Adour Alain Ducasse restaurant at the St Regis Hotel New York, the Waldorf Astoria New York, and InterContinental Nanjing China.

Tarek Nour has been appointed as Director of Rooms at the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza

Nour is no stranger to Four Seasons − his career within the hospitality group began in 2002, when he was appointed as a reception agent to open the first Four Seasons resort in the Middle East, Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh. In 2005, Nour was appointed to Reservations Manager, before moving to the Hotel’s housekeeping department, and has since contributed to the opening of Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano in 2007, and most recently, the opening of Four Seasons Hotel Beirut in 2009.

Roger Kacou has been appointed as Senior Vice President Africa at Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts

Roger Kacou joins Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ Executive Committee to head up Africa based at the company’s Area office in Cairo as of August 30, 2010. Roger will drive the continuing success of Mövenpick’s existing portfolio in Africa, comprising 16 hotels, resorts and Nile cruisers spanning 5 countries, in addition to developing new destinations across the region.
