Sharon Gabriel has been appointed as Director of Sales at Suncadia Resort, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel

A natural leader with over 20 years of group sales experience working with leading national hotel brands throughout California, Gabriel most recently worked at Napa Valley Marriott for eight years as senior sales manager and director of group sales. In this position, she led the hotel to continuously exceed revenue goals while assisting with new hires, managing the vertical market, and collaborating with revenue and marketing strategies. Prior, she was sales manager at several southern California hotels and resorts, including Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego, Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad, and Hyatt Regency Long Beach.

Clay Blake has been appointed as Executive Chef at Suncadia Resort, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel

Suncadia, A Destination Hotel, is pleased to announce the appointment of Clay Blake as executive chef. With more than nine years of experience in the industry, Blake will be responsible for ensuring resort guests and home owners experience the best local, northwest-inspired fare in a lavish and comfortable setting. Blake is a pacific northwest-native, born in Klamath Falls, Ore., and growing up in Puyallup and Spokane, Wash. After taking various classes at both Washington State University and the University of Cincinnati, he would discover his true calling at the Cincinnati Culinary Arts Academy. The ability to not only nourish but entertain and delight through food had always come naturally to him, though it wasn’t until enrolled at culinary school that he realized it was what he was meant to do. As executive chef at Suncadia, Blake looks forward to creating an environment where timing, speed, teamwork, communication, athleticism and artistic impression come together to make Portals the number one Washington restaurant east of the Cascades and the number one destination for weddings.

Shawn Milburn has been appointed as General Manager at Suncadia Resort, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel

Suncadia, A Destination Hotel, is pleased to announce the appointment of Shawn Milburn as general manager. With more than 16 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Milburn will be responsible for overseeing all areas of hospitality for The Lodge, The Inn, Trailside Condos and luxury homes. He’ll also oversee the resort’s food and beverage operations, meeting spaces, golf courses, Glade Spring Spa and swim and fitness center.Milburn was born and raised in California, and attended Bard College in New York where he studied International Health and Medicine. Milburn returned to California to hold a general manager position, among others, for Windsor Hospitality Group, Inc. in Santa Monica, Calif. He then worked as general manager for Embassy Suites Hotel and Spa in Monterey Bay, Calif. and Napa Valley Marriott Hotel and Spa in Napa, Calif. Trading in one beautiful view for another, Milburn moved away from the ocean and valleys to the gorgeous cascade mountains of Suncadia.

Michael Rayburn has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at Suncadia Resort, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel

Rayburn is no stranger to the hospitality world, having begun his career during a summer internship at Marriott’s Tan-Tar Resort in Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks while studying restaurant, hotel, institutional and tourism management at Purdue University. He found his passion for sales and marketing while working at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort & Spa in Vail, Colo., discovering the thrill and sense of achievement that comes with closing business deals and building client relationships. Since then, Rayburn has successfully directed large sales teams at five premier properties resulting in record production and two “Sales Team of the Year Awards” from Sage Hospitality and Renaissance Hotels. A love of the outdoors has brought Rayburn and his vast skillset to Suncadia, where he can easily enjoy his hobbies of paddle boarding, biking, hiking and golfing, in addition to spending time with his family. Rayburn looks forward to promoting the beautiful and unique property, “the vast scope of nature and stunning beauty allows visitors to keep returning for new and fulfilling experiences,” says Rayburn. “I look forward to implementing a strategic sales and marketing plan with my team, so more visitors can discover this wonderful place, establish traditions and begin making cherished memories.”

Rick Shell has been appointed as Executive Chef at Suncadia Resort, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel

Suncadia, by Destination Hotels & Resorts, is pleased to announce Rick Shell as its new executive chef. With nearly 20 years of restaurant and hospitality experience, Shell most recently served as the Director of Food and Beverage at The Chattanoogan Hotel in Chattanooga, Tenn. In his new position, Shell is responsible for supervising the culinary program of the all-seasons mountain resort, including concepting menus and overseeing kitchen operations for the three on-site restaurants, along with managing all catering and food service for events and in-room dining.

Jesi Siemons has been appointed as Wedding Catering Sales and Services Manager at Suncadia Resort, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel

Suncadia Resort, by Destination Hotels & Resorts, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jesi Siemons as wedding catering sales and services manager. After holding a variety of positions at Suncadia since 2010, Siemons is now charged with planning and executing all aspects of weddings held at the 6,400-acre resort, from contracts and vendor relations to catering and wedding party activities, to create a one-of-a-kind experience. Siemons primary goal in her new position is to uphold Suncadia’s standards as a popular all-seasons wedding destination. By implementing a range of packages for weddings of all sizes and creating activities that unite not only the couple, but also both sides of the family, she hopes that Suncadia can offer something much more than just a wedding venue.
