Robert-Jan Woltering has been appointed as General Manager at Fairmont Mayakoba

In his role, Woltering will work to strategically continue positioning this prized resort among the elite of Caribbean luxury destinations. Nearing its 15-year anniversary, the award-winning resort continues to redefine responsible luxury travel while providing extraordinary experiences for the most discerning guests. To achieve this level of merit, Woltering will work with his team of over 700 Heartists to continue delivering an exceptional service that comes from the heart, for which Fairmont Mayakoba is well-known, whilst magnifying the experience of each guest through culinary, wellness and cultural adventures that create loyalty and lasting memories. Woltering brings over 30 years of international hospitality experience to Fairmont Mayakoba. He began his career in 1987 when he held progressive food and beverage roles with Hilton International and Sheraton Hotels in The Netherlands, France and Madagascar. After joining Hotel Sofitel Luxembourg in 1995 as Food & Beverage Manager, he relocated to Dubai in 1997 as Executive Assistant General Manager with City Centre Hotel and Residence (managed by Sofitel). In 1999 Robert-Jan was appointed to his first General Manager position of the Grand Hotel Mercure Alfa in Luxembourg, before moving in 2004 to Hotel Mercure Prague Centre Na Porici, Praha, Czech Republic. From 2004 until 2015 he held several General Manager positions with Sofitel Hotels, including Sofitel Gent Belfort & Sofitel Brugge, Belgium; Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, The Netherlands; and Sofitel München Bayerpost, Munich, Germany, where he was subsequently promoted to Area General Manager Sofitel Germany. Robert-Jan returned to the United Arab Emirates in 2015 as General Manager, Fairmont Dubai before being appointed Regional Vice President, Fairmont and Raffles Hotels United Arab Emirates. Over the last 18 months he held interim support General Manager roles, first at Raffles Hotels Singapore and most recently at Fairmont Kea Lani. In addition to his impressive roles throughout his career, Woltering has served as a board member in the Amsterdam Red Cross, French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Netherlands and the Amsterdam Tourism and Convention Board and speaks fluent English, French, German, Dutch and Spanish will be his fifth language very soon.

Julian Smaldoni has been named General Manager at Thompson Playa del Carmen

Prior to joining Thompson Playa del Carmen, Smaldoni served as Managing Director of Faena Hotel and Universe in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Smaldoni possesses extensive years of experience in the hospitality sector, having served as General Manager for several notable properties throughout Mexico, including Capella Bahia Maroma and Ixtapa Resort & Spa; Tides Riviera Maya (now Viceroy Riviera Maya); and Quinta Real Huatulco and Gala Resort Playacar in Playa del Carmen and Huatulco (now Sandos Playacar and Dreams Huatulco).

Michel Mustiere has been appointed as Executive Chef at Grand Velas Riviera Maya

The AAA Five Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Maya on Mexico's Caribbean Coast has appointed Maitre Cuisinier de France Michel Mustiere as Executive Chef, effective immediately. Mustiere brings with him more than 25 years of culinary experience in various countries and different prestigious restaurants and hotels worldwide. Formerly Executive Chef of the resort's award- winning French restaurant, Mustiere is one of only seven chefs in Mexico, 300 in the world to attain the prestigious Master Chef title.

Dennis Clark has been appointed as General Manager at Fairmont Mayakoba

Dennis Clark has been promoted to general manager, Fairmont Mayakoba. Clark brings over 35 years of hospitality experience to this position, starting at Hyatt Hotels. In 1983 Clark joined Ritz Carlton hotels where he held several progressive positions. In 1994, Clark joined Fairmont as director, food & beverage, Fairmont San Jose and held that position until 1997 when he was promoted to hotel manager. In 1998, Clark transferred to Boston when he was appointed general manager, Fairmont Copley Plaza, Boston. Clark relocated to his most recent position as general manager the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle in 2003.

Victoria Campos has been named Director of Sales at MAHEKAL BEACH RESORT

A veteran of the hospitality industry, Campos boasts an illustrious 25-year career working for well-known hotel companies such as Hilton Hotels and two luxury resorts; Four Season's Punta Mita and Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya. Long known for repeat guests, Campos's primary responsibility is to ensure Mahekal is strongly positioned in key and emerging markets. In addition to leading the sales and reservations team, Campos is responsible for all advertising and public relations efforts continuing to bring positive awareness to the resort which recently underwent a name change and significant improvements.
