Erika DiProfio has been appointed as Director of Marketing at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa

DiProfio is a San Diego county resident with more than 15 years experience in hospitality marketing for leading restaurant and consumer brands. Most recently, DiProfio served as vice president of marketing & public relations of Slater’s 50/50, an innovative casual dining southern California restaurant company. While there, she led the $40-million, marketing-centric company through an explosive growth period, successfully expanding from two to seven restaurants within a four year period.

Sean Coogan has been appointed as Regional Director of Operations and General Manager at Welk Resort San Diego

Sean Coogan, as Regional Director of Operations and General Manager at Welk Resort San Diego, will oversee operations in Palm Springs and Tahoe, as well as San Diego. Coogan will be transitioning into this new role immediately. He has been a leader with Welk Resorts for more than 25 years, starting as Box Office Supervisor, and advancing through a number of appointments to his most recent position as general manager. In his new role, Coogan’s leadership, good humor and commitment to a first-class guest experience will continue to inspire his teams and grow the company.

Greg Schmidt has been named General Manager at Residence Inn San Diego Sorrento Mesa/Sorrento Valley

Greg Schmidt has been named the general manager of the hotel near MCAS Miramar. He previously served as the general manager of Residence Inn San Diego Rancho Bernardo/Carmel Mountain Ranch. Schmidt began his career with Marriott in 1987 as a server at Courtyard Nashville Brentwood in Tennessee. The Ritz-Carlton San Francisco in California hired him in 2000 for housekeeping and reservation sales. Four years later, he was promoted to assistant general manager at Residence Inn San Francisco Airport/Oyster Point Waterfront before attaining the general manager title at Courtyard San Jose Cupertino in 2006. Heading back to San Francisco in 2008 to work as the front office manager at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, Schmidt then decided to take on the sales manager role for the Western Mountain Pacific Sales Office.

Michael J. Slosser has been promoted to VP and Area Managing Director at Destination Hotels

Destination Hotels announced the promotion of Michael J. Slosser to vice president and area managing director. In his new role, Slosser will lead the comprehensive renovation and repositioning of San Diego's historic Town and Country Resort & Convention Center. The property was acquired June 1 by a partnership comprised of AECOM Capital, Atlas Hotels and Lowe Enterprises and is part of the Destination Hotels collection. Slosser will continue to provide area leadership for L'Auberge Del Mar and Paradise Point Resort, as well as any future California properties added to the company's portfolio.

Roy Hendrickson has been named Executive Chef at Kona Kai Resort & Marina

Most recently from Zimzala at the Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, Chef Roy was also previously a sous chef at Sam's and Kona, a stand-alone restaurant in Sunset Beach, where he focused on creating Hawaiian-Asian fusion cuisine. His experience with Asian-fusion cuisine began prior to Sam's and Kona, while he was a chef at Tantalum – a restaurant in Long Beach that allowed him to work with talented chefs and exposed him to new techniques and experiences.

Amanda Hawkins-Vogel has been appointed as General Manager at Hilton San Diego/Del Mar

Hawkins-Vogel is currently employed by the Hilton Del Mar's management company, Sage Hospitality, one of the top hotel investment and management companies in the United States, based in Denver, Colorado. She will be relocating from across the country from Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she's led as General Manager of the il Lugano hotel. In her new location in Del Mar, Hawkins-Vogel will continue to work with Sage and the Hilton brand to deliver the best guest experience and drive positive results and returns for the hotel.

Jerome Strack has been named General Manager at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe

Benchmark Hospitality International, a U.S.-based hospitality management company, has named Jerome Strack general manager for the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, the historic hotel located near San Diego. The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe is part of Benchmark Hospitality’s Personal Luxury Resorts & Hotels brand collection. Greg Champion, executive vice president & COO, made the announcement. Jerome Strack was previously regional director of food & beverage, North America, and regional director of operations, North America, for Warwick International Hotels. In this position he oversaw six properties in North America and the Caribbean. Prior to this appointment he served as area general manager for Horizon Hospitality of Palisade, Colorado, where he transitioned the company’s boutique hotel to four star status and supervised two additional limited service hotels. Mr. Strack was vice president and general manager for the Saguaro Ranch Development Corporation of Tucson, Arizona. He previously held the title of general manager for hotels in Burbank and Los Angeles, and began his US hospitality career in the Front Office. Prior to this he held positions of increasing responsibility for hotels throughout Europe. A native of The Netherlands, Jerome Strack is a graduate of the Hotel School Wageningen, Netherlands, where he majored in hospitality administration. He subsequently furthered his education at Cornell University. Passionate about horses, Mr. Strack is ideally suited for the equestrian charm of the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. He and his wife have relocated to Rancho Santa Fe.

Jenna Spittler has been appointed as leisure sales manager at L'Auberge Del Mar, by Destination Hotels & Resorts

Spittler began her career in the hospitality industry in 2007 as sales and marketing coordinator for the Four Seasons Worldwide Sales Office in New York, NY. In 2011, Jenna moved to California to join the team at La Costa Resort and Spa as travel industry sales manager. Most recently, Spittler served as director of leisure sales for both Omni La Costa Resort and Spa and Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa. Spittler is an honors graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara with a degree in global and international studies. She is an active member of the Junior League of San Diego and is passionate about the Nebraska Cornhuskers, beach destinations and country music.

Jeffrey Miller has been named General Manager at Andaz San Diego

Jeffrey Miller brings 24 years of experience with Hyatt to his new role at Andaz San Diego, with previous positions at the former Park Hyatt Los Angeles, Grand Hyatt New York and Hyatt at The Bellevue, where he oversaw the successful rebranding of the hotel. During his time at Andaz Wall Street, Miller was integral to the hotel's success, including overseeing a multi-million dollar renovation of Andaz Studio meeting and event space that suffered significant damage from Hurricane Sandy in early 2013.
