The 189-room hotel is steps from the iconic San Francisco cable cars, in the center of the city's best shopping and surrounded by culinary excellence. The hotel is ideally located in the heart of Union Square surrounded by fashionable shopping, sophisticated dining spots, bars and live entertainment. Boasting a unique and eclectic style, The Barnes' newly remodeled rooms are in the process of getting a few more finishing touches and additional renovations of shared spaces are coming this fall.

Marriott International, Inc. has appointed San Francisco Bay Area hotel veteran Clif Clark as General Manager of The Westin St. Francis and Area General Manager of San Francisco. As the leader of The Westin St. Francis, he will guide the strategy and vision for the 1195-room property, inspiring a culture of uncompromising excellence while driving exceptional guest experiences and financial performance. He will also be responsible for directing operations for five additional Marriott properties located in San Francisco including Marriott Marquis, W San Francisco, JW Marriott, The Clancy, and Marriott Union Square.

Hyatt Regency San Francisco Plans September Debut of Multimillion-Dollar Guestroom Renovation

Hyatt Regency San Francisco, one of San Francisco's premier waterfront hotels in the Embarcadero district, is excited to announce a multimillion-dollar guestroom enhancement. The project is managed by renowned design firm Looney & Associates and is expected to be completed September 2022. The hotel will remain open during the renovation process and is continuing to accept leisure, business and group reservations.

Elgin Thomas has been appointed as Director of Engineering at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco

With years of experience in opening, developing, and managing hotels, Elgin Thomas will be responsible for overseeing the hotel's operations and maintenance as the new Director of Engineering. Previously, Thomas was the Director of Facilities at The Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences, San Francisco where he managed the engineering team and achieved some of the best employee satisfaction and guest engagement scores within the Marriott and Ritz-Carlton brands. In his past work experiences, Thomas was an experienced Hospitality Manager at the Towneplace Suite-Northlake Atlanta, Courtyard by Marriott-Oakland Airport, and Courtyard by Marriott-Newark where he had an outstanding track record of exceeding department goals.

Chris Bean has been appointed as Executive Sous Chef at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco

Chris Bean first joined The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco in 2011 as a cook at the former Dining Room restaurant before joining the in room dining culinary team. With a passion for the culinary arts, Bean then worked in various positions in the banquet kitchen before being promoted to Kitchen Supervisor, followed by Banquet Sous Chef. In 2018, Bean took the opportunity to sharpen his culinary skills as the Sous Chef in training at Parallel 37. For his leadership, culinary excellence, and achieving high guest satisfaction, Bean won The Ritz-Carlton Five-Star Employee of the Year award in 2016 and The Ritz-Carlton Leader of Fourth Quarter award in 2019. As the new Executive Sous Chef, Bean will assist in leading and overseeing all culinary staff, kitchens, and restaurants at the city landmark hotel.

Carlos Gomez has been appointed as Director of Restaurants at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco

With vast experience within the hospitality industry, Carlos Gomez held various roles in the Middle East and Europe. He started as an F&B Management Trainee with the Hilton in Doha, Qatar, then became Restaurant Director for Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai. After a few years in the Middle East, Gomez returned to Spain and joined The Ritz-Carlton, Hotel Arts Barcelona working a variety of positions including Director of Marina & Pool Operations, Director of Banquets, and lastly Director of Restaurants for Enoteca by Paco Perez, a Two Michelin Star restaurant. In his new role as Director of Restaurants for The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco, Gomez will oversee the Lobby Lounge, Parallel 37, and in room dining operations.
