Royal grew up in Virginia and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Industrial Psychology from Radford University. After completing his education in 1979, he joined Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. Royal held various managerial positions in the food and beverage and human resources departments at Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC, Four Seasons Hotel Houston and Four Seasons Hotel Austin, Texas.

A native of Shanghai, James Xi began his hospitality career at Shanghai Hilton in 1987. In early 1991, he immigrated to the United States to complete his MBA majoring in hospitality management at University of Houston. This commenced his journey with the hospitality industry overseas, where his experience spanned across the prestigious hotel brands, Hilton Hotel & Conference Centre, Embassy Suites Hotel, DoubleTree by Hilton and Adam’s Mark. He held numerous leadership positions at these hotels, including as executive assistant manager and resident manager.
