Alastair McAlpine has been appointed as General Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake

After a near four-year stint as General Manager of the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi in Malaysia, Alastair McAlpine is trading the tropical island exoticism for some classical Chinese elegance as he is newly appointed General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake, a UNESCO-recognised region.Alastair graduated in Hotel Management from the Scottish Hotel School at Strathclyde University in 1993. He started his Four Seasons journey at the former Regent Hong Kong in 1996, first as a Management Trainee and then as Assistant Director of Food and Beverage. This was followed by four postings as Food and Beverage Director in the Maldives, Tokyo, Washington DC and New York. Alastair was the opening Resort Manager at Lanai, Hawaii from July 2005 to June 2008, before his first General Manager posting in the Maldives at Kuda Huraa. Alastair moved to the Seychelles as General Manager in November 2009, and then to Langkawi in late 2011. Hangzhou will be Alastair’s tenth Four Seasons property.

With branding undertaken by German luxury hotelier Kempinski and French consultancy Landor in consultation with Chinese historians and design experts, the Beijing location can be thought of as a modern interpretation of a Ming dynasty scholar's studio—albeit a much more opulent version. “We have moon gate-shaped doors, the furniture is Ming design; the style, the pattern is from Ming design as well," says NUO Beijing General Manager Adrian Rudin.

Sarah Wang has been appointed as General Manager at Hyatt Place Luoyang

Sarah Wang has been selected as General Manager of Hyatt Place Luoyang, effective from August 1, 2015. Wang began her career with Hyatt in 2002 as the Front Office Assistant Manager at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, before progressing in various rooms-management positions at Hyatt Regency Xian, then advancing to become Director of Rooms at Hyatt Regency Jinan in 2011. Since 2014, she has been the pre-opening and opening Executive Assistant Manager for Rooms at Grand Hyatt Dalian.

Johnny Kiu has been appointed as General Manager at Hyatt Regency Wuhan Optics Valley

Johnny Kiu has been selected as General Manager of the newly reflagged Hyatt Regency Wuhan Optics Valley, effective from August 17, 2015. Kiu has vast hospitality experience working for a number of international hotel chains—including Four Seasons, Marriott, Peninsula, Shangri-La and Intercontinental—while located in Hong Kong, Indonesia and various cities in China. He joined Hyatt in 2013 with his first General Manager assignment at Hyatt Regency Guiyang, where his replacement will be announced in the near future.

Paul Wright has been appointed as General Manager at Park Hyatt Beijing

Paul Wright has been selected as General Manager of Park Hyatt Beijing, effective from August 17, 2015. Wright started his tenure in 1994 at Hyatt Regency Perth, before advancing in various food-and-beverage management positions at Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove, Hyatt Hotel Canberra, Grand Hyatt Melbourne and Grand Hyatt Bali. In 2008, he became Hotel Manager of Park Hyatt Dubai and subsequently Grand Hyatt Beijing, before his most recent assignment as General Manager at the rebranded Grand Hyatt Incheon since 2012. Wright’s replacement at Grand Hyatt Incheon will be announced in the near future. Ronald Kang, currently Area Vice President and General Manager of Park Hyatt Beijing, will be temporarily assigned to the Beijing Support Centre for Hyatt Special Projects, effective from September 1, 2015. Ronald’s next assignment will be announced in the near future.
