Based at Pan Pacific Suzhou, he will also be in charge of the daily operations and overall performance of the 481-room hotel.

Sky Duan joined Swiss International Hotels & Resorts in 2012 as the Corporate Director of Revenue & Distribution and was subsequently transferred in 2014 as Executive Assistant Manager to oversee the pre-opening preparation of the Nanchang property in January 2014. The hotel successfully opened in November, where Sky oversees the day-to-day management of the 470 room hotel with extensive F&B facilities, including a large 800 seat Chinese restaurant that features 55 large luxury private dining rooms. He is reporting directly to Vice President Operations – Roger Mair.

In pioneering study, Professor Hanqin Qiu of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and two co-authors have found that China's high-speed railway has increased domestic tourism demand. The researchers investigated the effects of the 1,070-kilometre Wuhan-Guangzhou stretch of the railway on domestic tourism receipts in three Chinese provinces, finding that it has produced significant benefits for tourism in Guangdong and Hunan, with Hubei lagging behind. Yet the overall situation, they suggest, broadly confirms that "transport infrastructure is a necessary precondition for the development of the tourism industry".

He was part of the opening team as executive chef of the Shangri-la property in Tainan, Taiwan and an executive sous chef at China World Hotel, Beijing.
