Largest hotel in the city opens in the historic Dortberghaus

Comfort, design and sustainable mobility: in a ceremony today, Dortmund's City Council Ludger Wilde opened IntercityHotel Dortmund. Centrally located between the train station forecourt and the city center, IntercityHotel is the largest hotel in the city, boasting 231 rooms, five conference rooms, a restaurant and bistro lounge with bar and terrace. The gleaming interior of IntercityHotel Dortmund was conceived by Italian architect and designer Matteo Thun. With the FreeCityTicket, which is included with a stay at the hotel, guests can use public transport free of charge and explore the city with all its leisure, cultural and shopping opportunities in a climate-friendly way.

Florian Steinmaier has been appointed as General Manager at The Charles Hotel, a Rocco Forte Hotel

Mr Steinmaier joined The Charles from Villa Kennedy, Frankfurt, where he was General Manager since January 2020. He has held posts at a number of renowned establishments, such as the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof Hotel in Frankfurt, the Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski and the Roomers Hotel, in Munich. He began his career in the industry as a hotel clerk at the Mandarin Oriental Munich, before moving to its sister hotel, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London, where he managed The Park restaurant. Steinmaier then moved to Switzerland to study at Les Roches School of International Hotel Management, where he graduated from his bachelor's degree with honours in 2009.

2024 Opening for new Hampton by Hilton Potsdam, Germany

As part of a franchise agreement with established partner and operator Signo Hospitality, Hampton by Hilton Potsdam will be the first Hilton property in Potsdam, situated in close proximity to Filmpark Babelsberg, a working film studio and theme park, offering visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the film industry. The city also boasts strong historic heritage with landmarks such as Sanssouci Palace, the summer palace of former Prussian King Frederick the Great. The 163-guest room hotel is expected to open its doors in June 2024, providing amenities including a breakfast area and bar, a meeting room, and gym.

196-Key Hampton by Hilton close to the new BER airport planned for 2024

Hampton by Hilton Berlin Airport West will be Hilton's first property at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, the German capital's international airport. Opened in 2020, the airport replaced Berlin Tegel Airport and Berlin Schönefeld Airport, which combined saw more than 35 million passengers in 2019. Scheduled to open in November 2024 and operating under a franchise agreement with long-standing Hilton partner tristar GmbH, the hotel will offer 196 guest rooms, a breakfast area and bar, a gym, and 150 parking spaces. The airport's terminals and the city centre are easily accessible by train in less than five minutes and 35 minutes respectively.

Matthias Sieber-Wagner has been appointed as General Manager at IntercityHotel Frankfurt Airport

Two hotels are now being run by the same familiar face. Matthias Sieber-Wagner, General Manager of the IntercityHotel Mainz, took on the additional responsibility of heading up the IntercityHotel Frankfurt Airport on 1 April 2022. Mr. Sieber-Wagner is following in the footsteps of the previous General Manager Uwe Troll, who has now retired after almost 50 years in the hotel business and five years at the helm of the IntercityHotel Frankfurt Airport.
