Marriott to Bring EDITION Hotels Brand to Italy’s Lake Como

Marriott International, Inc. today announced it has signed an agreement with Bain Capital Credit and Omnam Group to bring its EDITION Hotels brand to Lake Como. Owned and developed by Bain Capital and Omnam Group through a fund managed by Kryalos SGR, The Lake Como EDITION is slated to open in 2025 with 145 luxurious guest rooms, including two penthouse suites, a lively lobby bar, a floating pool, and multiple restaurants and bars overlooking Lake Como with breathtaking views of the Bellagio mountains. The property is a 19th century building located on the western shore of the prestigious Lake Como, a short drive from Central Milan. It will be converted into a luxury lifestyle destination that brings new life to Lake Como while honoring the intimate history of the building and its rich heritage.

Set on a rocky cliffside, this year Villa Treville, the hidden gem of the Amalfi will offer guests an elevated stay with the addition of a new spa, Botanical Bar and acquisition of Villa Maura. The property has a glittering past, and has been a favourite address for artists, writers, and creatives since the 1920s. Villa Treville was also the eccentric residence of Franco Zeffirelli, the famed Italian opera and film director and accents from his time at the property can be seen throughout. La Traviata Wellness & Spa, named after one of Zeffirelli's operas, will be housed in the property's newly renovated Art Nouveau Green-House, offering visitors a relaxation experience surrounded by lush gardens with vistas over the sparkling sea. The spa will use the products of luxury beauty-guru Dr Barbara Sturm, a frequent guest of the property, and treatments can be enjoyed in the secluded gardens or spa itself. Originally part of the property, the reacquisition of Villa Maura will take the total number of villas to six, with each offering an insight into its previous owners via different décor and aesthetics. This season the Moroccan style Bianca Bar, housed in what was Zefirelli's salon, presents a new Botanical Bar. Specialist mixologists will create cocktails with homemade infusions from the estate's gardens for guests to enjoy on the vine adorned terrace, sitting on plush sofas under the Amalfi sun. Also, new this year, Executive Chef Vincenzo Castaldo will be offering a new Chef's Table experience at lunch and dinner, as well as a mouth-watering pastry corner celebrating Campania's confectionary heritage during breakfast service. After a sweet treat, guests can enjoy outdoor yoga and pilates on La Rotonda terrace or work out in the property's new Technogym.

Mandarin Oriental Announces Its First Mountain Resort In Cortina, Italy

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has signed a long term management agreement with Attestor Limited to rebrand and manage the historic Hotel Cristallo in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. The property will undergo a substantial renovation after closing in the second quarter of 2023, re-opening as a Mandarin Oriental resort in the summer of 2025, ahead of the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics.
