Doors re-open at Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese

Five star hotel Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese has re-opened following a complete redesign by French architect and interior designer, Jean-Philippe Nuel. Situated in a former 19th century Roman palazzo, Nuel has taken inspiration from the building's original architecture as well as the landscaped gardens of the adjacent Villa Borghese to bring a fresh look with a nature-inspired colour palette for the city retreat. The 78-room hotel lies on a quaint street in the centre of the city, just moments from iconic landmarks including the Villa Medici, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. Edoardo Giuntoli, the hotel's General Manager says, "In a city which is home to some of Europe's most exciting historical buildings, it was essential for the new design to subtly incorporate Rome's rich history along with Sofitel's French elegance. What we've created is a chic fusion of the Italian La Dolce Vita heritage with modern French Art de Vivre." Each of the guest rooms features a Baroque-inspired ceiling that creates the illusion of a blue sky above as well as a signature Sofitel MyBed* bed and marble bathroom complete with Hermès toiletries. The hotel's Prestige Suites, some with private terraces, offer luxury amenities including leather key card holders, a choice of room fragrance and monogrammed pillowcases. Suite guests can also enjoy bespoke experiences, from touring Europe's oldest apothecary to vintage Vespa rides to well-known movie locations.

Chapter Roma - Art and Soul

Since flinging open its elegantly arched doors in May, Chapter Roma has been establishing itself as a vibrant creative hub in the heart of Rome's charming, cobblestone Regola district. Housed within a late-1800s heritage building, the 42-room hotel has been conceived by acclaimed South African designer Tristan du Plessis as an homage to the area's industrial past. Exposed brick, raw steel, brass and copper are set against an elegant canvas of vaulted ceilings, herringbone floors, and midcentury Italian furniture, while graffiti and statement artworks spark conversation throughout the public areas. The guestrooms are provocatively art-free for relaxing reflection—creating an urban oasis in the midst of the bustling capital—and an organic food market is planned to celebrate the surrounding countryside's exquisite natural bounty.
