The Santa Maria, a Luxury Collection Hotel & Golf Resort, is proud to announce the appointment of Hector J. Rodriguez Ladevèze as General Manager. A seasoned industry veteran, Hector will lead the 182-room luxury hotel that caters to business and luxury leisure travelers.Hector joins The Santa Maria Hotel with more than 20 years of hospitality management experience having led and opened hotels and resorts in Dubai, New York, Paris, Spain, Greece, and Costa Rica. A veteran of Marriott International, he has held various management positions and most recently served as General Manager at W Costa Rica - Reserva Conchal. Throughout his career, Hector has been instrumental in developing effective sales and marketing campaigns and food and beverage concepts with brands including The Luxury Collection, W Hotels, Jumeirah, Westin, and Le Meridien.Hector holds a bachelor's degree in International Hospitality Management and an associate degree in Financial Management from Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland. He is multilingual, a fluent speaker of French, English, Spanish and Italian.

Hotel La Compañia in Panama City Set to open in 2021

The latest development agreements within The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand include plans for Hotel La Compañia in Panama City, Panama, which will be nestled within the heart of Casco Viejo (Spanish for "Old Quarter"), a UNESCO World Heritage site. Expected to open in 2021, the 88-room hotel is set to become the first property in Panama that is part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand.

Idu Ribeiro has been appointed as General Manager at Panama Marriott Hotel

Marriott International announces the appointment of Idu Ribeiro as the new General Manager of the emblematic Panama Marriott Hotel. Idu joins this new position from the Marriott Executive Apartments Panama City, Finisterre, where he was served as General Manager for the past four years.A 21-year industry veteran, Idu began his hospitality career at the Westgate Lakes Resorts in Orlando, as Activity Coordinator and held subsequent positions at the Royal Plaza Disney Village and Ma rriott Custom House. In 1999, he relocated back to South America where he held different leadership positions in operations at the Hotel Marriott Plaza, Buenos Aires and other hotel companies. In 2014, he returned to Marriott as Director of Operations of the JW Panama Golf and Beach Resort, achieving outstanding results in associate engagement, house profit and guest satisfaction. His passion and enthusiasm were key factors in the rollout of many brand initiatives, especially his roll a BLT champion.Idu holds a degree in Hotel Business Management Administration by Universidad Anhembi Morumbia, Brazil. In his spare time, he loves to travel experiencing new cultures with his wife Daniela and two daughters and loves practicing different sports. Most recently, he had an amazing experience completing the IronMan 70.3 of Panama and Costa Rica.

JW Marriott to raise its flag in Panama City

Ithaca Capital today announced that the iconic Bahia Grand Panama Hotel in Panama City, housed in the tallest building in Panama and Central America, is set to become a JW Marriott® hotel. The hotel, which originally opened in 2011, has been operating as an independent property since March 2018. Ithaca Capital, Hotel ToC and Marriott International signed agreements to rebrand the hotel as a JW Marriott, under a long-term management contract with Marriott International.

Mauro Barros has been appointed as General Manager at AC Hotel by Marriott Panama City

With a career spanning over 28 years in the hotel industry, Mauro Barros joined Marriott in 2000 as Sales and Events Manager of the Marriott & Renaissance Costa do Sauipe Resorts in North-Eastern Brazil. He held subsequent positions at the JW Marriott Rio de Janeiro as Director of Events. In 2006, Mauro was promoted to Director of Operations at the Santiago Marriott Hotel, Chile. He later transferred to Venezuela as Director of Food & Beverage and Director of Operations of the Marriott P laya Grande, Caracas.In 2013, Mauro returned to Brazil as Director of Operations of the Itaipava Arena Pernambuco, Brazil; The Operating Company of FIFA World Cup Soccer Stadium in Recife. Mauro's most recent position was opening General Manager of the first Marriott Brand in Recife; Courtyard Recife Boa Viagem, Brazil. Under his leadership, the hotel was recognized by Great Place to Work as one of the best companies to work for in Recife. Mauro has an extensive international background leading all aspects of hotel operations. He is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, and he is committed to providing memorable and enriching experiences to the guests of the AC brand in Panama.
