Judy Hou has been named Chancellor at the Glion Institute of Higher Education

Glion Institute of Higher Education, one of the world’s top three institutions of higher education for an international career in hospitality management, has appointed Judy Hou as Directeur General/CEO to manage Glion-branded institutions in Switzerland and the United Kingdom, effective January 2014. Prior to Glion, Hou was CEO of Les Roches Jin Jiang Hotel Management College in Shanghai, China. Judy formerly served as the director of human capital for Hotel ICON in Hong Kong. She also was an adjunct professor for the School of Hotel & Tourism Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. During her tenure, Hou successfully developed the first fully integrated commercial and teaching/research hotel owned by the university. Hou has held various key management positions in luxury hotel companies, including learning and development manager for Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and served training manager for Park Hyatt Washington in Washington, D.C.

Knut Rupprecht has been appointed as Director at the Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality (SSTH)

Following the acquisition of the Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality (SSTH) in Passugg by the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) and hotelleriesuisse, the Board of Directors appointed Knut G. Rupprecht as Director from 1st March 2014. Mr. Rupprecht will develop detailed concepts for fully integrated, holistic syllabuses spanning classic apprenticeships, higher diploma courses up to Bachelor and Masters degrees in Hotel and Hospitality Management. He will use his extensive knowledge in the field and educational expertise while being assisted by his expert taskforce, headed by Chris Mason (Director). The former Academic Director of SSTH, Dr. Ursula Gehbauer Tichler, and Dr. Juan Perellon, EHL’s Chief Academic Project Officer will also support the new CEO.

Aiden McAuley has been appointed as Senior Vice President Operations, Europe at FRHI Hotels & Resorts (FRHI)

FRHI Hotels & Resorts (FRHI), the parent company of luxury and upper upscale hotel brands Raffles Hotels & Resorts, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts, is pleased to announce the appointment of Aiden McAuley as Senior Vice President Operations, Europe. In this new role, he has relocated from Singapore to Zurich and is now responsible for overseeing all existing hotel operations and future developments across all three brands - Fairmont, Swissôtel & Raffles within the European Region. During the past eight years Aiden McAuley had the position of Managing Director Swissôtel The Stamford & Fairmont Singapore and Regional Vice President, Asia-Pacific for Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts overseeing all Swissôtel properties in Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Australia and India. In this role he had the opportunity to venture into new markets and oversaw the opening of the first Swissôtel property in India, Swissôtel Kolkata. McAuley brings with him over 25 years of hospitality experience and first joined Swissôtel in 1999 as the General Manager of Swissôtel The Howard, London before moving to Singapore. Prior to joining Swissôtel, Aiden held positions at other international brands including Hilton.

Mansour Memarian has been appointed as Executive Chef at The Chedi Andermatt

German-Iranian Mansour Memarian, who has two Michelin stars under his belt, has been appointed Executive Chef and will head all dining operations at new luxury resort in the Swiss Alps, The Chedi Andermatt. In his new role, Memarian is not only responsible for the Front of House, but will oversee and manage the kitchens and The Chedi Andermatt’s restaurants including The Restaurant, which serves international and Asian cuisine, and the highly anticipated Japanese Restaurant with its sushi, sashimi and tempura bar.
