Sam Garcia has been appointed as Director of Event Planning at JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa

JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa has appointed Sam Garcia to director of event planning for the 575-room, AAA Four Diamond property. Dan Carraher, the resort’s director of sales and marketing made the announcement.Garcia began his hospitality career with Marriott in 1975 at its Los Angeles Airport property in various positions including catering and guest services. In 1985 he joined the Marriott Hotel Anaheim holding several titles including convention floor manager, convention services manager and ultimately director of convention services. During that time period he was awarded Convention Services Manager of the Year. In 1991, Garcia moved to Palm Desert, California, where he spent 15 years and held various leadership roles at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa, including director of event management and director of services. Under Garcia’s guidance, the resort won multiple awards of excellence in catering and events. In 2006, Garcia became an owner/broker for Desert Vacation Rentals & Sales in Palm Desert, specializing in residential property management for 10 years before returning back to the hospitality industry and Starr Pass Resort & Spa.

Tracy Nyemaster has been appointed as Director of Activities & Adventure at Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort

Tracy Nyemaster has joined Hilton Tucson El Conquistador as the new Director of Activities & Adventure. Nyemaster will use her expertise to implement new programming and establish “uniquely southwest” guest experiences – and oversees the Elements Spa and pool staffs. Nyemaster was previously Director of Guest Experiences at Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa, where she managed the "Kids Club" program and supervised daily recreational and concierge activities. Prior to the Westin, Nyemaster worked at the Grand Del Mar Resort as Recreation Supervisor.

Bryan Tubaugh has been appointed as Director of Group Sales at Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort

Hilton Tucson El Conquistador has hired Bryan Tubaugh as Director of Group Sales. Bringing nearly 10 years of experience to the team, Tubaugh most recently served as the Senior Sales Manager at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. Tubaugh has also held the positions of the Southwest Sales Manager and Sales Manager at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa and National Sales Manager at Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa.

Kevin Brady has been appointed as Director of Restaurants at Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort

Kevin Brady has been named Director of Restaurants at Hilton Tucson El Conquistador where he will oversee the resort’s six outlets, including, Epazote Kitchen & Cocktails, Sundance Café, Desert Springs Bar & Grill, Colibrí Lobby Lounge, Grab ‘N Go, and in-room dining. Bringing a wealth of experience to the team, Brady previously served as the Casino Wine Manager and General Manager of PY Steakhouse at Casino Del Sol Resort, where he led the casino’s wine program overseeing eight restaurants, including the Forbes Four-Star steakhouse. Prior to that, Brady was Associate Director of Food & Beverage and Wine Director for both Loews’ Coronado Bay and Ventana Canyon resorts.

Clyde Nakasone has been appointed as Director of Catering at Hilton Tucson El Conquistador

Hilton Tucson El Conquistador has promoted Clyde Nakasone to Director of Catering after being an integral member of the catering team at the resort for 11 years. Nakasone previously served as the Catering & Convention Services Manager at the DoubleTree Alana Waikiki, the Director of Catering for Creations in Catering in Honolulu and Food and Beverage Manager at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa.

Lynne E. Gomez has been appointed as Marketing Manager at Hilton Tucson El Conquistador

Lynne Gomez has been named Marketing Manager at Hilton Tucson El Conquistador. Gomez, a veteran, comes to the resort from the global wellness destination Canyon Ranch, where she most recently served as Account Executive & Production Specialist, Sales Communication Manager and PR Manager, as well as other related writing, public relations and marketing positions over her long tenure with the company.

Bonnie St. Dryden has been appointed as Director of Group Sales at Hacienda Del Sol Guest Ranch Resort

Hacienda Del Sol Guest Ranch Resort, a historic Tucson landmark welcomes new Restaurant General Manager, Peter Zadorozny and Catering Manager of Social Events, Joelle Fegan, and celebrates the promotion of Bonnie St. Dryden to Director of Group Sales. Director of Group Sales, Bonnie St. Dryden previously ensured unforgettable guest experiences at The Hacienda Del Sol Guest Ranch Resort as Catering Manager. Ms. St. Dryden has over 25 years' experience in the hospitality industry having served as Group Sales Manager at Tucson's Marriott University Park Hotel before joining the Hacienda Del Sol team. Marc Van Dam has been appointed as Group Account Director at The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa

Experienced sales and business development professional, Marc Van Dam, will also be joining the team as a group account director for the resort based in Dallas, Texas and is responsible for the Midwest and Eastern Canada markets. Prior to joining The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa, Van Dam served as the North American sales director for Savision Inc. as well as an independent consultant for PHM Hospitality Inc., where he completed various projects that led to an increase in overall sales productivity. In his new position, Van Dam looks to showcase his skills as an accomplished professional with successful quota attainment and the ability to build superior client and partner relationships.

Maria Elena Armenta has been appointed as Group Account Director at The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa

Joining the sales team as group account director, Maria Elena Armenta will be responsible for all group business within the Northeast. She joins The Westin La Paloma as a results-driven senior sales and marketing professional with a history of streamlining operations, improving productivity, and enhancing market share. Armenta previously served as the regional director at the Preferred Hotel Group in Miami. Throughout her career Armenta has been recognized as an effective team leader who is committed to building brand identities and driving home customer service excellence.

Deborah Weiss has been appointed as Group Sales Manager at The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa

Deborah Weiss returns to the AAA Four Diamond Westin La Paloma with 30 years of hospitality sales experience. As group sales manager, Weiss will be responsible for marketing the resort to the Southern California and Western Canadian markets. Prior to her current role, Weiss was sales manager for the Omni Tucson National Golf Resort, special projects coordinator for the Tucson Business Committee for the Arts, and a financial planner for American Capital Financial Services. Weiss has also been credited with recently completing a historic home renovation and partaking in a plethora of local volunteer activities.
