Daniel Gomez has been appointed as General Manager at Courtyard Houston Galleria

White Lodging is pleased to announce Daniel Gomez has been promoted to the general manager of the Courtyard Houston Galleria from his previous position as the general manager of the Holiday Inn Grand Rapids. During his 11.5 years with White Lodging Gomez has been the general manger of the Courtyard Grand Junction in Colorado and the Fairfield Inn & Suites San Antonio Downtown and has spent time as the Front Office Manager, Director of Sales and Housekeeping Manager at various hotels.

Alex Petrollini has been appointed as General Manager at Hilton San Antonio Hill Country Hotel and Spa

The Dow Hotel Company, LLC, (DHC) a hotel ownership investment and management company, today announced that Alex Petrollini, CHA, a six-year veteran of the company, has been named general manager of the 227-room Hilton San Antonio Hill Country Hotel and Spa. The property is owned by a joint venture between Prudential Insurance Company of America and DHC, which also operates the property. Petrollini most recently served as general manager of DHC’s 369-room DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago O’Hare, which earned its four-diamond ranking under his direction. As general manager of the Crowne Plaza Portland, Lake Oswego, Ore., also managed by DHC, Petrollini and his team earned the brand’s top ranking for meeting satisfaction. Prior to his tenure in the United States, he was general manager of the Vlad Inn Hotel in Vladivostok, Russia. Petrollini is a Certified Hotel Administrator and was certified as a Master Chef by the Cordon Bleu in London.

Jeff Wardlaw has been appointed as General Manager at The Hotel Contessa

Benchmark Hospitality International, a leading U.S.-based hospitality management company, has appointed Jeff Wardlaw general manager for Hotel Contessa , located on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Greg Champion, Benchmark’s chief operating officer, made the announcement. Jeff Wardlaw was most recently Benchmark’s acting general manager for The Heldrich Hotel and Conference Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Prior to this he served as director of rooms for the company’s Eaglewood Resort & Spa, located near Chicago, where he began employment as front office manager. Wardlaw served in the same position for Benchmark’s Chaminade Resort & Spa of Santa Cruz, California. He previously held the position of general manager for Hotel Arista near Chicago, the first LEED certified hotel in Illinois.

Brother Luck has been appointed as Executive Chef at Hotel Contessa

Benchmark Hospitality International, a leading U.S.-based hospitality management company, has named Brother Luck executive chef for Hotel Contessa, located on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas. Jeff Wardlaw, Benchmark Hospitality’s general manager at the hotel, made the announcement. Brother Luck has previously served as executive chef for Benchmark Hospitality’s Cheyenne Mountain Resort of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was initially executive sous chef for the property. Luck has also served as chef for World of Whirlpool, a private corporate conference center in Chicago, which is operated by Benchmark Hospitality International. Prior to joining Benchmark, Chef Luck served as chef de cuisine with a major hotel company at properties in Arizona and Texas, garnering awards for culinary excellence. Brother Luck has been honored with an invitation to cook at the renowned James Beard House in New York City. He and his family have relocated to the San Antonio area.

Edgar Garin has been appointed as Director Franchise Development for Central and South America at La Quinta Inns & Suites

La Quinta Inns & Suites announces the appointment of Edgar Garin, as Director of Franchise Development for Central and South America. Garin brings more than 25 years of hospitality management and sales experience to La Quinta. He most recently served as Vice President of Development for Radisson Hotels & Resorts Latin America. He will report to David Wilner, La Quinta’s Senior Vice President of Development. In addition to his most recent position at Radisson, Garin has held management positions at Lexington Services/Vantis International/TravelClick; Carnival Hotels & Resorts; and at Taj Hotels, Potomac Hotel Group and Sonesta International. Garin holds a B.S. from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration and a Master’s degree in International Business from Florida International University.

Scott Larsen has been appointed as General Manager at Crowne Plaza San Antonio

A veteran hotelier, Larsen joined HEI after 11 years with InterContinental Managed Hotels, where he most recently served as the general manager of the Holiday Inn San Antonio International Airport. There he directed the hotel through a $6 million renovation and led sustainability initiatives that earned national recognition for the hotel and a spot on IHG’s global green team for Larsen.

Thomas Economos has been appointed as General Manager at Sheraton Dallas North

HEI Hotels & Resorts (HEI), the nation’s fastest growing private owner/operator of hotel real estate, today announced several general manager promotions, transitions and appointments resulting from the acquisition of four hotels earlier this year. Thomas Economos was appointed General Manager for the Sheraton Dallas North, a 309-room hotel acquired by HEI in May, 2011. Previously, he was the General Manager of the Le Meridien Dallas.

Jennifer Richards has been appointed as General Manager at Le Meridien Dallas

HEI Hotels & Resorts (HEI), the nation’s fastest growing private owner/operator of hotel real estate, today announced several general manager promotions, transitions and appointments resulting from the acquisition of four hotels earlier this year. Jennifer Richards was appointed General Manager of the Le Meridien Dallas, filling the position vacated by Thomas Economos. Richards served as the General Manager of the Hilton Indianapolis North since 2009.

Jack G. Bickart has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at Lakeway Resort and Spa on Lake Travis

In his role, Bickart is responsible for leading Lakeway’s team of sales professionals and implementing new brand initiatives for the resort. Bickart has over 35 years of experience working in the hotel industry all over the east coast and Texas. Most recently, Bickart has been the Chief Sales Officer at Horseshoe Bay Resort in Horseshoe Bay, Texas where he was responsible for the revenue development and oversaw group and transient sales along with event planning for the last four years. Prior to that, he spent five years at Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at the 303 room resort. Bickart started his career at Smuggler’s Notch Resort in Smuggler’s Notch, Vermont and worked at two southeastern resorts before coming to Texas-- Wintergreen Resort in Wintergreen, Virginia and Daufuskie Island in South Carolina. While at Daufuskie Island and Barton Creek Resort & Spa his department won Department of the Year in 2000 and 2004 respectively.

Victoria Nickle has been named Spa Director at Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas

international Bliss Spa, winning the Condé Nast Traveler award for Best Urban Day Spa in 2001. Moving to the United States, she joined Steiner Leisure as corporate director of operations for Mandara Spa,s where she was responsible for the daily operation of 17 national and international resort spas. In 2006, she gained the additional responsibility of director of special projects, opening new spas for Steiner with partner hotels including Disney, Kerzner, Hilton and Marriott.

Didier Bosc has been appointed as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at Accor North America

Didier Bosc is appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Accor North America. He is a graduate of Amiens business school ESCAE and holds a doctorate in Management Control as well as a degree in law. He joined Accor in 1985 and progressed rapidly before becoming Vice President of Finance for Sofitel and Novotel North America in 2003. He has been Executive Vice President and CFO of Accor North America since 2007 and will retain his previous responsibilities as well as now supervising the cross-divisional services (IT, legal services, procurement, and technical services) of Novotel and Sofitel North America. Working with him, Erik Anderouard and Eric Buitenhuis remain respectively SVP Operations for Sofitel Americas and VP of Novotel Canada.

Jim Amorosia has been appointed as chief executive officer (CEO) at Motel 6 and Studio 6

Following Olivier Poirot’s decision to leave his positions to join another company, Jim Amorosia is appointed Chief Executive Officer of Motel 6 and Studio 6 from October 3, 2011. Jim Amorosia has an MBA from the University of Arizona. He started his career with Motel 6 in 1985 as Regional Marketing Director and went on to occupy a series of strategic positions. He was appointed Executive Vice President of Motel 6 in 2000 and has been President and COO of Motel 6/ Studio 6 for the last four years. He will be responsible for managing the Motel 6/ Studio 6 brands in North America and accelerating the transformation of Motel 6 business model, with the goal of significantly reducing capital employed over the medium term. He will be assisted in his task by Alan Rabinowitz, who is promoted to the position of Executive Vice President, Director of Business Affairs and General Secretary in charge of strategic operations for Motel 6 / Studio 6.

Abby Morgan has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at The Joule

Morgan joins The Joule from Hotel ZaZa, in the Uptown district of Dallas, where she began as Sales Manager for Group and Business Travel before being promoted to Senior Sales Manager during her five-year run. Prior to that, Morgan was Catering Sales Manager at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Dallas from 2005-2006 and a Senior Account Executive at Lone Star Park, where she was responsible for catering services and meeting spaces from 2001-2005. Morgan's foray into the industry was in 1998 as Catering Sales Manager for the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas.

Fritz Doss has been named Executive Chef at Sheraton Dallas Hotel

Prior to joining the Sheraton Dallas Hotel, Doss supervised and managed food and beverage services for Hyatt Hotels in Atlanta, Dallas, Irvine, Calif., Newport Beach, Calif., and Orlando, Fla. During this time, he cooked for prominent celebrities, business leaders and elected officials such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ted Turner, Walter Cronkite, Quincy Jones, Hillary Clinton, Angela Bassett, Gloria Estefan, Julian Lennon, and every sitting U.S. President since Ronald Reagan. He also participated in numerous high-profile events serving thousands of guests, such as catering three PGA Tour events, hosting three worldwide sponsors for the 1996 Olympic Games and hosting the NFL for Super Bowl XXIII. He was recognized as Hyatt’s Chef of the Year in 2007 and led his division to receive Hyatt’s Department of the Year, Culinary designation in 2009.

Dave Baxter has been appointed as General Manager at Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol

Before joining HEI in July 2005, Dave’s 35-year career in hospitality had taken him across the country, restoring solvency to the Westin William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, launching the hotel component of iDine Rewards network and overseeing $15 million in renovations at the Doubletree Hotel at the Entrance to Universal Orlando. With HEI, Dave was the general manager of the Sheraton Norfolk, Va. and most recently, he was general manager of the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport.

Fekade A. Wolde has been appointed as Director of Food & Beverage at Hotel Granduca

Mr. Wolde comes to Hotel Granduca having most recently served as the director of food & beverage for the Four-Diamond Omni Houston Hotel at Westside. He has previously served in several food & beverage positions at four and five star properties throughout the Houston market. During his years of service, Fekade Wolde has won the respect of his peers, as demonstrated by the numerous awards he has received. These include the "Manager of the Year" and "Manager of the Quarter" awards, and he was selected by executive management to be a Moments of Service trainer, implementing high-quality service programs at properties nationwide. He is the past recipient of Customer Satisfaction Awards and the Hospitality on Parade Food & Beverage Award of Excellence. Fekade Wolde graduated from Nairobi School of Business in Nairobi, Kenya, with an Associate's degree in Communications. He is a member of Houston’s Food and Beverage Directors Association. Mr. Wolde and his family reside in Katy, Texas.
