Leading hospitality management company Charlestowne Hotels announces the opening of Hotel Morgan, a Wyndham Hotel located in Morgantown, West Virginia. Hotel Morgan is the company's tenth opening in a collegiate market and eighth adaptive reuse project. Charlestowne worked in partnership with Thrash Group to oversee a year-long renovation of the 95-year-old property, and will now take over hotel management, inclusive of operations, marketing, revenue management, and talent acquisition.
Sandra McDowell was previously director of human resources for William R. Sharpe, Jr., Hospital of Weston, West Virginia. She earlier worked in human resources and sales management for Lowe's Companies, Inc.Ms. McDowell is a graduate of Clarksburg Business College, and a past Furniture Division board member of Catawba Community College. She resides in Buckhannon, West Virginia.
Following a multimillion-dollar revitalization project, DoubleTree by Hilton Huntington opens today as Hilton's first DoubleTree by Hilton property in West Virginia. The hotel welcomes guests to beautifully renovated guest rooms and meetings and events spaces, as well as a transformed lobby and business center. SWaN Hill Top, LLC (SWaN), an affiliate of SWaN & Legend Venture Partners, and Interstate Hotels & Resorts, a global leader in third-party hotel and resort management, have partnered to resurrect the historic Hill Top House Hotel, founded in 1888, into a luxury resort destination in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, focused on incubating "big ideas." Rising star Atrium Hospitality has appointed Hector M. Jeyakaran the new general manager of Embassy Suites by Hilton Charleston, WV, a 253-suite hotel in the heart of the capital city"s lively downtown. Jeyakaran brings more than two decades of hospitality management experience to his new role, including 16 years at Hilton-branded hotels in North Carolina. Jeyakaran"s appointment to Embassy Suites by Hilton Charleston, WV represents his return to the brand after a year as general manager of Residence Inn by Marriott Raleigh Downtown in North Carolina. For 13 years prior, he served in a dual role as director of operations for five Hilton hotels in Raleigh for Winwood Hospitality Group, Inc. and as general manager of Embassy Suites Raleigh-Durham Airport/Brier Creek. In 2012, he was named GM of the Year for the Embassy brand. From 2001-2005, Jeyakaran served as general manager of Cardinal Club (now City Club) of Raleigh. His career also includes director of food and beverage positions for Hilton North Raleigh and Millennium Durham in North Carolina, St. Anthony Hotel in San Antonio, Texas, and Westward Look Resort in Tucson, Arizona.

Julie Davis-Petit previously served as task force director of events, sales and marketing for Benchmark, working on assignments in New Jersey, Texas, Florida and West Virginia. Prior to joining Benchmark, she held the director of sales and marketing position for Marriott Autograph Collection – Hotel ICON, a property Benchmark originally opened in Houston, Texas. Earlier Ms. Davis-Petit held several senior leadership positions for hotels and hotel management companies in locations throughout California.

Todd Felsen, senior vice president of operations, made the announcement. Jason Jonilonis previously owned and operated a successful food and beverage consulting business, specializing in enhancing culinary quality. In this role he worked closely with staff, restaurant concepting and product development for hospitality and casino clients. Jonilonis has also served as a task force food and beverage director for Topnotch Resort in Stowe, Vermont. Prior to this he was with Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort & Spa™ of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Mr. Jonilonis’ distinguished 30-year culinary career includes serving as executive chef for the Casino Del Sol Resort, Hacienda Del Sol and Westward Look Resort, each of Tucson, Arizona. He has been a featured chef multiple times at the James Beard House in New York City. Many of the restaurants under his direction have received numerous awards of excellence, including Forbes Four Star and AAA Four Diamond ratings.

Ed Riley, general manager, made the announcement. A veteran hotel executive, Jim Koutsky was most recently chief financial officer for Visionary Destin, a resort and property management company located in Destin, Florida. He previously served as corporate controller for Callaway Gardens Resort of Pine Mountain, Georgia. Mr. Koutsky has held finance positions at Amelia Island Plantation, and during a 14-year period with Hyatt Hotels, served as controller for a number of downtown hotels and large scale resorts. He is a graduate of Southern College, located in Orlando, Florida. Mr. Koutsky resides in Bridgeport, West Virginia.

BENCHMARK®, a global hospitality company, has named Dyal Sandhu director of operations for Stonewall Resort, a Benchmark Resorts & Hotels property located in Roanoke, West Virginia. The appointment represents a return to BENCHMARK for Mr. Sandhu. Todd Felsen, senior vice president operations, made the announcement. Dyal Sandhu was previously opening director of food & beverage for the Zemi Beach House Resort & Spa on Anguilla in the British West Indies. He served in the same capacity with Viceroy Hotels & Resorts and earlier for Anantara Hotels & Resorts, Republic of Maldives. Mr. Sandhu’s previous position with Benchmark was as director of food & beverage for Bedford Springs Resort, an historic Pennsylvania property which Benchmark restored and operated at the time. Mr. Sandhu is a graduate of the International College of Hospitality Administration located in Brig, Switzerland. He has relocated West Virginia.
Benchmark Hospitality International has named Brandon Jourdan director of finance for Stonewall Resort. Mike Hager, general manager for the property, which is a Benchmark Resort located near Weston, West Virginia, made the announcement.Brandon Jourdan was most recently director of finance for Omni Bedford Springs, located in Bedford, Pennsylvania. Previous to this he served as controller for the Renaissance Hotel St. Louis Airport and the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
Benchmark Hospitality International®, a leading U.S.-based hospitality management company, has named Richard N. Ebright III director of operations for Stonewall Resort, a Benchmark Resorts & Hotels® property located in Roanoke, West Virginia. Michael Hager, general manager, made the announcement. Richard Ebright was previously general manager for the Scottsdale Cottonwoods Resort of Scottsdale, Arizona. Prior to this he served as hotel manager and assistant general manager of the Sheraton Downtown Nashville. Earlier in his career, Mr. Ebright held senior leadership positions at hotels in Oklahoma, Virginia, Texas and Arizona. He is a graduate of Scottsdale Community College and is a past Board member of the Oklahoma Hotel and Lodging Association. Mr. Ebright is relocating to West Virginia.
Myra Hughes previously held the position of rooms division manager for Stonewall Resort. During her tenure with the property, she has served as front office manager, assistant front office manager and front desk supervisor, which was her first position at the resort. Ms. Hughes has also served on the opening task force teams for Benchmark Hospitality properties in other markets. Prior to joining Stonewall Resort, Myra Hughes held managerial positions of increasing responsibility for a variety of hotels in West Virginia. She and her son are residents of Jane Lew, West Virginia. The Four Diamond-rated Stonewall Resort is a 208-guestroom property with a lakeside lodge and lakeside cottages, a conference center, restaurants, complete fitness center and swimming pool, spa and an 18-hole Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course.
Jenkins’ primary focus at The Greenbrier is to lead the resort’s efforts to regain Mobil Five-Star status. She was previously employed by The Sea Island Company for five years in a similar capacity and has 20 years of hospitality management experience. During her tenure with Sea Island, she led the company’s service and quality initiatives which resulted in a remarkable four Mobil Five-Star awards. Prior to joining the Sea Island Company, Jenkins served as the director of quality for The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island where she managed all aspects of quality and training development. As the director of quality, she participated in the company’s pursuit and reception of the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Jenkins began her hospitality career with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, where she was employed for 11 years. She is a member of the American Society of Quality and the American Society of Training and Development.
Joining The Greenbrier management team is Kmiec, who was most recently the resort director of sales and marketing for Sawgrass Golf Resort & Spa. While at Sawgrass, he was responsible for the redevelopment, repositioning and implementation of the sales, marketing and public relations efforts. A hospitality sales and marketing veteran, Kmiec has also served as vice president of sales and marketing for Nemacolin Woodlands Resort as well as its parent company, 84 Lumber. Kmiec’s leadership of the group sales efforts at both Sawgrass and Nemacolin resulted in resort sales records. In addition, he gained extensive experience with PGA TOUR events, particularly the 84 Lumber Classic, and will play an integral role in the recently announced Greenbrier Classic.
