Hilton Expands Rotterdam Portfolio with Two New Hotels

Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has signed a franchise agreement with Annexum to develop two hotels totalling 480 rooms in Rotterdam. Mainport Hotel Rotterdam, Curio Collection by Hilton and DoubleTree by Hilton Rotterdam Centre are due to open in 2024 following renovations, during which both hotels will remain operational and will be trading as Hilton affiliate hotels. Investment manager Annexum recently acquired the two hotels, which will become the first properties under the Curio Collection by Hilton and DoubleTree by Hilton brands in Rotterdam, and join Hilton Rotterdam and Motto by Hilton Rotterdam Blaak in the Dutch city.

Scandic Strengthens Position in Helsinki with Two New Hotels

Scandic Hotels has signed a long-term lease agreement with landlord Projekti GH Oy for two hotels with a total of 459 rooms in the unique Garden Helsinki, a multi-functional event arena in Helsinki, Finland. The agreement includes one Scandic Go hotel with 232 rooms and a 227-room Scandic hotel that are expected to open in 2028. The new hotels will be established in one of Scandic’s key destinations where the company sees growing demand from both corporate and leisure travelers.

S Hotels & Resorts acquires Mercure Glasgow City Hotel leasehold and starts major renovation of properties in Manchester, Edinburgh and Leicester as part of asset enhancement program

S Hotels and Resorts PCL (SET: SHR), a leading hospitality investment and management company and the hospitality arm of Singha Estate PCL (SET: S), has announced the latest phase of its “3P” (“Profit, Portfolio, Planet”) strategy in the United Kingdom, with significant renovations at several hotels in key cities, including Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel, Mount Royal Hotel Edinburgh, and The Grand Hotel Leicester, plus extensive upgrades at another eight hotels.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchising company with approximately 9,100 hotels spanning more than 95 countries, is further strengthening its position in Türkiye reaching approximately 105 open and operating hotels and a development pipeline of approximately 20 additional properties. BANKS Antwerp now part of the Carlton Hotel Collection

Carlton Hotel Collection is expanding. The four-star BANKS Antwerp, located in the historic heart of the city, is the latest addition to its international hotel business. With its idiosyncratic character and unique location, the hotel fits perfectly within the collection. Carlton takes over both ownership and day-to-day operations. After fifteen years, owners Carla Bartels and Daan Terlingen handed over the baton on July 1. On the same date, Roelof Meijering will start as hotel manager in Antwerp. BANKS Antwerp is the second hotel in Belgium for Carlton Hotel Collection, bringing the total number of hotels to thirteen.

Stoneweg Hospitality Extends Spanish Hotel Footprint With €83 Million Double Acquisition

Stoneweg Hospitality (‘Stoneweg’), the hotel investment arm of global real estate company Stoneweg, has acquired two hotels in Spain from Globalia Business Corporation, the Spanish tourism group, for €83 million. The investments have been made through a variety of Stoneweg’s discretionary funds and increase the Company’s hospitality exposure by 25%, from 1,281 to 1,691 keys, as well as its weighting to the Balearic and Canary Islands to 62%, a region where record visitor numbers are forecasted in 2023.

The volume of real estate investments in Italy in the first quarter of 2023 amounted to approximately 1 billion euros. Compared to previous quarters, the result highlights a lower activity across all asset classes as a consequence of the changes in the international capital market, mainly due to the rise in interest rates which took place in the last twelve months.
