Judicial Tribunal Of Paris: Airbnb Liable For Civil Damages Caused Through Their Platform

The judicial tribunal of Paris has issued an important verdict deeming Airbnb a "publisher" of the ads which appear on its site and, for the first time, requiring AirBnB to pay damages for illegal activity which took place through its platform. While AirBnB plans to appeal the decision, if the judgement stands it could have significant legal repercussions across France and Europe.

WTTC Call For Greater Clarity So Brits Can Travel Abroad Again

Lifting The Lockdown: What’s Next For Hospitality?

As the UK looks to emerge from the COVID-19 lockdown, business leaders have been calling upon the Government to set out its plan for how we might return to some sense of normality. Unsurprisingly, the hospitality industry has been amongst the most vocal, given numerous concerns over the practicalities of reopening venues under social distancing guidelines.

A Sustainable Exit Strategy: Managing Uncertainty, Minimising Harm

The lockdown imposed in the UK to slow the spread of Covid-19 has saved many lives. Across Europe, only full lockdown has worked to reduce the reproduction number of Covid-19 below 1, slowing the rate of spread and buying time. But the economic, social and other health consequences of the suppression measures are severe. The Office for Budget Responsibility anticipates a 35 per cent fall in GDP in Q2 if current restrictions remain in force through June, and unemployment is expected to rise by 2 million to 10 per cent. The longer lockdown goes on, the greater the chance of a significant permanent reduction in living standards.

Fairmont embarks on worldwide partnership with Montreux Jazz Festival

PARIS - Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, a world-leading luxury brand within the Accor group, is pleased to announce the launch of its global partnership with the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival (MJF). Fairmont Le Montreux Palace has also been an essential part of this musical odyssey. Located in the heart of Switzerland where the annual Montreux Jazz Festival takes place, the hotel welcomes artists, festival-goers, and music lovers to discover iconic spots including the festival's "House of Jazz", where daily jam sessions and concerts by both musical icons and emerging artists are showcased. With the 2020 Fairmont World Tour, Fairmont guests around the world will experience a taste of the celebrated music festival. After their performances impressed festivalgoers and a panel of judges at MJF 2019, Fairmont has invited two musicians, Jalen N'Gonda and Bobby Bazini, on the 2020 Fairmont World Tour. They will perform at 13 extraordinary Fairmont properties across the globe. From January 29 to February 12, 2020, Jalen N'Gonda will embark on his second tour with Fairmont, performing at six Fairmont properties in South and North America. To close off the tour, the two artists will meet at Fairmont Le Montreux Palace for a final "jam session" on March 7, 2020. Jalen N'Gonda and Bobby Bazini are integrated in the talent pipeline of the non-profit Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation (MJAF), dedicated to scout and promote up-and-coming artists."The Montreux Jazz Festival is proud to bring emerging musical talent to audiences all around the world, in a series of exclusive intimate and enriching experiences. New Hometel Concept room2 Receives Industry Recognition

Property developer Lamington Group has received industry recognition at The Association of Serviced Apartment Providers (ASAP) Awards, winning two awards for its new hometel concept room2.Lamington Group won the Industry Breakthrough and Innovation Award for the room2 hometel concept, awarded to a company which demonstrates a product or service innovation that has led to commercial success or had a significant impact on the Servi ced Apartment Sector. The company also won the SME Business of the Year Award, which recognises an outstanding small business over the last financial year thanks also to the performance of Lamington Serviced Apartments, its London-based portfolio. The room2 brand was created by Lamington Group, which opened room2 Hammersmith in 2016. The site was used as a pilot to test and refine the hometel concept, which was launched with the UK's first fully-fledged hometel in Southampton in 2018.Although it's only been six months since opening, the initial commercial signs and guest feedback for room2 Southampton have been highly positive. Occupancy forecasts for the first financial year have been revised upwards, surpassing expectations, and guests are not only advocates of the concept but are also keen to see further expansion across the UK.Robert Godwin, Managing Director, commented, "We are thrilled to be awarded the 2018 Innovation Award, which h as helped us to continue to grow and develop Lamington Group. This industry recognition confirms the support for and excitement around the hometel concept."A lot of hard work went into creating the concept and it was designed to push the boundaries of the hospitality sector and this has clearly been recognised by the industry as a real breakthrough. We thank the judges and ASAP for this recognition and their ongoing support, and we are looking forward to continuing to develop the room2 brand throughout the UK over the next few years." room2 has gone above and beyond the usual new hotel market requirements, such as modern design, quality bedding and free wifi. It has focused on creating memorable experiences for guests: the 24 hour stay; check-in via one of three methods; multiple dining options that include full in-room kitchens, as well as more traditional dining options; communal guest laundry, and long-stay lockers. Above all, the emphasis is o n allowing guests to utilise the space as if it were their own home, with flexibility and freedom.Following the success of room2 Southampton, the company is currently working on plans to open more hometels across the UK, with planning permission agreed for further hometels in Chiswick and Manchester.

The Hard Rock Hotel New York is clearly adapting to Gen Z’s modern view of luxury, shifting away from traditional extravagance and toward immersive experiences, personalization, creativity, and visually compelling spaces. The hotel delivers this through music‑infused amenities, rooftop social environments, bold design, and cultural programming that make the stay feel expressive and memorable.
