The three winning Bournemouth University students, who are in their final year of the BA(Hons) Hospitality Management Degree, attended the Master Innholders Conference held at the Hilton Hotel on Park Lane, London following the announcement that their entry on 'Maintaining Sustainable Competitive Advantage for the Hospitality Industry' had been given top spot in the competition.
Meliá Hotels International has announced at FITUR the addition to its portfolio of the Villaitana resort, consisting of two 4 and 5 star hotels on the Costa Blanca (Alicante, Spain). Both hotels will be operated under a lease agreement and will open shortly under the company's Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand.

Morgans Hotel Group Co. (NASDAQ: MHGC) ("Morgans" or the "Company"), the operator and 50% owner of the London joint venture that owns Sanderson and St Martins Lane, today announced that the joint venture partners have closed on the sale of the Sanderson and St Martins Lane hotels to Capital Hill Hotels Limited, a Middle Eastern investor with other global hotel holdings. The sale price for the two hotels is 192 million pounds Sterling, or approximately $300 million, and represents a value of approximately 542,000 pounds, or $847,000, per room.

Dorchester Collection announces that Le Richemond will join its growing portfolio of luxury hotels from 1 August 2011. Set on the banks of Lake Geneva, the prestigious 109-room hotel will be Dorchester Collection's first third-party management agreement. The group was selected against strong competition, following a change in ownership of the hotel.
Kempinski Hotels plans to take over the Royal Spa Kitzbühel in Jochberg at the beginning of the winter season, making it the group's second hotel in Austria. An appropriate letter of intent has been signed between Kempinski Hotels and PORR Solutions Immobilien- und Infrastrukturprojekte GmbH and Ambo GmbH, the owners of the luxury property in Jochberg in the Kitzbühel Alps. It is planned to finalize the management agreement before the end of June. The hotel, which opened in December 2009 and is today known as the Royal Spa Kitzbühel, a Leading Hotel of the World, is only a few kilometres outside of Kitzbühel, and boasts 144 elegant rooms and suites with panoramic views of the breathtaking mountain landscape surrounding the hotel. Delaware North Companies has been awarded a contract to refurbish and operate the landside restaurants at Scotland's Glasgow Airport, the latest expansion of the company's global airport hospitality business. This project, set to get underway this year and be completed in early 2012, represents a complete makeover of the airport's current pre-security food service outlets. The Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) is very proud to announce that Simone Hess, a student in the Master programme at EHL, has won the prestigious Hyatt Student Prize. Her prize, a one-of-a-kind creation by Baccarat, was presented to her on 20 April 2010 by Gebhard Rainer, Managing Director of Hyatt Hotels & Resorts (Europe Africa Middle East) at the EHL campus. In all there are 13 schools in Europe who are specialised in Hotel Management and that have been selected to compete in this competition. Competitors must be at least 21 years-old, hold a Master’s degree and speak fluent English.
